    Bombers

I think they are off set so that the needles are either horizontal or vertical at normal operating temperature, makes it easier to see if one is outside normal with just a quick glance. Man that aircraft made enough noise at low speed without adding a supersonic bang to it as well :D
  2. I thought Rudel is in Florida, which if he is, gives legitimacy to the EST as a time zone for posting :)
  3. I'll second that, great book and great pictures in it too
  4. Just been reading through my Tomcat Bye Bye Baby book again, lots of references to how the Lantrin system on the Tomcat was better than the one on the F-15E as it has a bigger display and higher resolution There are quite a few mentions of it in the book, but I liked this one:
  5. I'm sure it was at one point, some of the images have changed recently, I don't remember seeing the carrier on the team page before.
  6. Living here in Belgium I have found a lot of commonality between words we used in Scotland and what they use here in Flemish (Vlaams). I have no feeling for languages at all, been here for almost 10 years now and still cannot hold a conversation in Vlaams, I can read it tolerably well, but I cannot get the words out when I try to speak it. Oh, and here a f*cker is a person that breeds animals :D
  7. No but it does help stirrrrr the pot :D That would be "Witte pens" here :) Lekker! Zwarte pens = black pudding, lekker ok
  8. Looking at what is behind the team page on their website looks kinda flat toppish... http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/team/
  9. On Hawaii time too :P
  10. Well they got a step closer, the K4 has a flare gun... :D
  11. Oooh! Thunderbirds confirmed :D I hope it is Thunderbird 1
  12. I'll just have to wait until Faggot Friday ...

    15's day

Well at least it mentions a year... Quite looking forward to this one :)
  14. Just sitting here reading this thread and B-Boom another F-16 goes Mach about town :pilotfly: There have been a lot recently, sometimes it is months between the sonic booms but over the past month or so we have been having at least one a week. Fairly rattles the windows and doors :D
  15. Solo Turk Took this series of pictures of an F-16 last summer, it was sitting at the cusp of being supersonic, certainly there was a loud CRACK as it went past me, it was not a boom like we hear from the other F-16s when they are at altitude when they exceed M1.0 The third picture was about when the Crack was heard and he was slowing down in the 4th pic. There is about 0.3seconds between each picture
  16. Thanks for sharing:) While not a big problem, pages 6 and 7 are out of sequence in the final pdf.
  17. Never ever been able to do that. Always two circles for me. (my eyes are the problem, not the binoculars)
  18. Maybe it was the meteor was the first jet put into production then, senility catches up on you after a while :D
  19. Some excellent photos in that book :)
  20. Yeah can't wait to fly the Meteor too, it flew and entered service before the Me262 But as far as I recall the first jet to fly was the Heinkel He178.
  21. It's not that I keep the F104 on a pedestal... But the do locally, they used to fly from our local airbase and they still have quite a few stored around the base.
  22. Still we could have the likes of that 747 that flies POTUS around, I believe it has some self defence capability.
  23. Oovee's Spintires won an award from Intel back in 2009 with their proof of concept demo in the best threaded category and came 2nd over all. I've enjoyed watching this come to fruition over the years. https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/level-up-2009-winners-announced
  24. Twin engined Hawk? looks kinda like that from this angle :music_whistling:
