Submodi, A/G Modi).
  2. This should be an option in the axis tune menu. I´ve got the ANT ELEV mapped to a spring loaded axis wheel and it works perfectly (in the F-15 and the F-18), but not so much in the F-16, as the antenna recenters every time i release the axis wheel. It´s very annoying in the F-16. There must be a way to make this suitable for both, position and spring loaded axis wheels...
  3. Well, depends on the scale. The Tamiya Strike Eagle in 1/32 scale is about 140€. The F-16 too. And then the additional PE parts... a proper plastic model kit can get expensive as well...
  4. I have both, the T50CM2 base as well as the WarBRD base and can also recommend both. However, i cannot say anything about the newer versions CM3 and WarBRD-D. VKB provide superb quality too, Winwings quality is ok (I do have the Super Taurus throttle, my brother owns the Gunfighter MK3 and T-Rudder pedals), but i´d still recommend Virpil over WinWing and VKB as Virpil is compatible to TM and Realsimulator grips, providing you a much bigger choice of grips for your base without opening the grip and installing separate adaptors. The T50 has a nice and easy solution to swap springs wich can be a bit tricky with the WarBRD. And you can increase/decrease the stiffnes of the stick via tension screws, without having to swap springs at all. The WarBRD base on the other hand comes for a way better price and has, imo, a better gimbal construction as the cams are mirrored (2 cams per axis), while the T50 (CM2 at least) only has a single cam construction with 1 cam per axis. Some people reported issues with the single cam system of the T50CM2, namely that the cams are not 100% perfectly shaped resulting in they need slightly more force rolling left, than rolling right (or vice versa). I for myself cannot confirm this issue with my model and Virpil seems to have replaced the íssued cams for free. There is a thread about it here in the Virpil section of the forum. Also no idea if that was improved on the CM3. The WarBRD base is better suited for non-extension use as it has a "standard" axis deflection (comparable to the TM Warthog base and most other bases) and does not need to be mounted as it comes with a desktop baseplate. Like others have already said, the T50 should be used with at least 100mm extension, as it has only roughly half the axis deflection of the WarBRD base When it comes to grips, you should be aware that TM grips are comparably heavy due to their metal construction, so you may need to use a stiffer setting on your T50 tension springs or, depending on your extension length, install heavier springs. With the WarBRD base, you´ll need to install the heavy springs. I´m running the TM Warthog grip on the WarBRD base and even with the heavy springs, it still shows permanently 1% pitch down in the Virpil Software. However, this is not beeing registrated in DCS and the F-16 flies perfectly level so it´s not an issue at all. The TM Hornet grip is a bit lighter than the Warthog and was perfectly centered. As others have said, the TM Hornet grip will be perfect for the Hornet, Harrier as well as the upcoming Strike Eagle and will also serve you well with other aircraft. It´s a good grip, i still have mine as a backup not willing to sell it. Just be aware that it does not come with a palm rest like other grips and when used in sidestick setup, this can be uncomfortable. It´s better suited for a center stick setup so you can rest your arm on the right leg. The TM A-10/F-16 grip is slightly cheaper, comes with the same amount of buttons (23 in total) and is a full metal construction, even the trigger is made out of metal. The TM Hornet grip has the upper part and the trigger made out of plastic, so the TM A-10/F-16 grip has better haptics imo. If that´s important for you, just saying. The TM grips also tend to slightly turn left and right when beeing used on Virpil bases / extensions, due to their inferior fixation nut. Just a mm or 2, but enough to damage your pins, wich is why you should loosen the screws on the Virpil bases connector so it can move with the stick. On the 200mm extension, this can be solved with a rubber washer. If you specificly want a dedicated Hornet/Harrier/F-15 grip, you are ok with the amount of buttons on the grip and that´s the maximum you´re willing to spend, i´d say this base/grip combo is the best choice you can make. If you want way more buttons on the grip and you are willing to spend more for a way better grip with a superior fixation system and some other advantages, you should take a look at the Realsimulator F-18 CGRH grip wich i can highly recommend. Definately the best Hornet grip on the market. However, it comes with a not so nice pricetag, starting at 390,-€ ex. VAT. But you´ll get what you pay for and i never regret bying it. Cheers
  5. My update was only a 5 GB download...
  6. Now that you mentioned it, this is also the case for me.
  8. Absolutely. Two of my friends also run the G2 and both get horrible headache pretty fast when playing at 60Hz. I´m just blessed with less sensitive eyes, i guess.
  9. I ran the G2 at 90Hz for like half a year, until i found out it can also be run at 60Hz. Absolutely identical to me. No flickering or any other refresh rate related issues for me, so i didn´t need any training to get used to 60Hz. Even kept the 60Hz setting for other VR games wich my system can easily run at 90fps (ACC, AMS2, HL:A, F1 22 and a few others) as i´m too lazy to change refresh rate for specific games.
  10. Hello everyone, I´m having 2 issues with a Hornet mission i just started to craft. The first one is related to the waypoint sequence. When i´m on AUTO sequence and i reach WP10, the sequence switches to WP12 and skips WP11. WP10 and 11 are about 20nm from each other, so this should not be the issue. The second issue i´m having is with enemy aircraft not showing up on the SA page. 2 groups are set to "invisible on map" and "invisible on planner", one group is only set to "invisible on planner" for test purpose. The box for invisible on MFD is not activated. Leaving them visible is not an option, as i don´t want players to be able to override the F10 map options via "force own settings" and the units should not appear in the threat section of the briefing. I know, that "invisible on map" also made units dissappear on the SA page before and for a while after "invisible on MFD" was implemented. But to have units beeing invisible on map but not on the MFD used to work properly and i´m pretty sure this still works in some of my other missions (will have to test this again tbh). What am i doing wrong? Or may the file be corrupted? Mission attached, but it´s a long mission (roughly 2h to reach WP10) and demands night time AAR before the specific aircraft groups are activated. If anyone could still take a look at this, i´d be deeply grateful. Thanks in advance 13 Skywatcher.miz
  11. Hello Sir, Tbh, i can´t realy say what you are doing wrong. Or even if. Maybe this is related to the Mod itself. What i can do is to provide you a few screenshots how i set up an AI flight (F-16C) that properly attacks a SA-11 site in one of my missions. Not sure if both actions (Search then engage / Attack group) on image 2 and 3 are realy neccessary, but this is how it works for me. Hope this helps. I
  12. Macht Sinn.
  16. Well, it is about pre-order and we figured out that DCS Steam users get treated different with the Mudhen pre-order by RAZBAM. And then some people came up with the "switch to standalone" stuff. Maybe because of that. Tbh, i don´t know why that broken record has to be repeated again and again because, as you already stated, ppl use the Steam version for various reasons. Some standalone users seem to be like vegetarians, who have to tell flesh eaters all the time how happy they are and how much better everything is since they stopped eating meat. And then wonder when their discussion partner tells them how tasty a juicy steak is. Not at war with you or anyone else, sir. Burn the heretic!
  17. That just means, it is irrelevant to the vast majority of players wich version is more stable.
  18. I´m flying regular on crowded servers (Growling sidewinder / Flashpoint Levant / Buddy Spike) and i cannot confirm the Steam version beeing less stable than the standalone version of my friends i´m playing with. In fact, the guys with standalone i´m playing with have more crashes than i have, even while i´m in VR and most of them are playing in 2D. I highly doubt that this is related to the version, but more to the hardware ppl are using. edit: I had exactly one crash since 2.8 and that was related to SteamVR crashing.
  19. 1. Download rate. 2. Customer protection. 3. Payment methods. 4. DRM via Steam servers. 5. Comfort. Switching language or between OB / stable is just a mouse click. No need for a reinstall or fiddle around with any files like back in the 90s. Same for moving the DCS install to another drive. Game starts as if nothing was changed, also no need to fiddle around with any files. 6. Refund is just a mouse click without having to deal with the dev studio. 7. A working friends list. 8. Games guaranteed to work even after the developer is bancrupt because of 4. 9. Most people have Steam anyways . No need for another annoying launcher or transmitting payment informations to another platform. Some ppl are sensible with their payment infos. 10. Modules are cheaper in general. Just a few €uros, but for some ppl this may make a difference as not everyone is living in the rich west like we do. 11. DCS embedded in the same ecosystem like the rest of the games. 12. I can buy modules on Steam and transmit them to standalone anytime. Vice versa is impossible. I don´t think it is that hard to accept, that some ppl are just not willing to switch from steam to standalone because of one (or several) of these advantages. That broken "switch to standalone" record sometimes sounds like a sect trying to convert people, but not like a reasonable arguement. At least not to me.
  20. You obviously didn´t get my point. Read my comment again and try to understand it. I never said it must be sold for 1$. I was just giving an example that the price for a software copy is relying on the numbers of sold copies and nothing more while for a physical product (like a car), the production costs for each unit are a significant part of the price, in addition to the developement. This is not the case for software copies. Or can you tell me how much are the production costs for a software copy in addition to the developement costs? Last time i checked, it didn´t cost me any money to copy a file. Do you pay any money for copying a file on your computer? Again, i´m not demanding a lower price. The price is absolutely ok for me. My point was, that they would loose money by selling copies on steam is just nonsense. So much for joining the real world, sherlock. Next time follow the correct order: read, get the hang of what you are reading and then answer.
  21. That´s not what i was saying. My point was, that the copy itself does not produce any costs in addition to the developement and they just need to sell enough copies to earn money. IMO, the price for the DCS modules is absolutely justified and i never demanded they should sell it for 1$. I just said, that in theory it would be possible to sell any software copy for 1$, IF enough copies are sold as sopftware copies do not have additional production costs for each single unit that has to be sold. At least for me, copying a file does not cost me any money at all while a physical product can not just be copied but has to be produced physically generating production costs in addition to the developement. That is not the case for a software copy. This and nothing else was my point. Absolutely. As i already said, my point was not referring to the price itself, but to the statement they would sell copies on steam with a loss wich is just nonsense. DCS has roughly 26K reviews on Steam and since (IIRC) less than 10% of Steam players write reviews, this is a significant customer base. Selling it (in theory) for 1$ was just an example that if enough copies are sold, the price for the copy itself is totaly unimportant. Of course they wont sell enough copies of a DCS module so that 1$ will ever cover the costs of the development.
  22. It´s not like they are producing cars where each unit has its own production costs that have to be considered. They are only selling a copy of their product, so how can they make a loss with that? In theory, they could sell each copy for 1$, as long as they sell enough of them they will earn money. Plain and simple with software.
  23. Instead of beeing disapointed, people should keep in mind that we are talking about a pre-order delay, not a release date delay. And even if it was, this wouldn´t be the first module beeing delayed. Not realy a big deal IMO. What are 48h anyways? literally nothing compared to the time we´ve been waiting for this module. The delay might not even be related to the module itself. Maybe there is an issue with the shop and they want to start pre-order for the ED shop and Steam at the exact same time (or vice versa), maybe ED or Razbam have staff needed for the process beeing sick, etc. etc. Can be anything, but i would assume if there would be a significant issue with the module itself, the delay would have been more than 2 days. Just my 2 cents...
