Change the waypoint task "CAP" under advanced waypiont actions to "Attack targets". Then you can set wich type of targets (helos, bombers, fighters, cruise missiles, etc) shall be attacked by the group and you can set the attack range in NM. Under stop conditions you can set the time or the waypoint (or LUA file, flag etc) the rule should stop. If you want to have even more specific behavior, you could add " Set Option" -> "ROE" under advanced waypoint actions and set the rules of engagement for each of your waypoints. Cheers

Are you talking about the TPR or the TFRP paddles? Since your thread says TRP wich is a bit misleading.. If it´s the TPR, are you talking about these screws? https://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=1793&pictureid=11444 If so, these are fine threaded M3x20mm edit: You don´t want to contact TM for just one of these screws, do you? TM will propably take 10 $ or so for a complete set of 4 from you. In a hardware store, you´ll pay less for a box of them. It´s 3,99 for a 100pcs box over here. Maybe with a different head, demanding different tools (f.e. screwdriver instead of the 2,5mm hex key), but who cares? Your choice...

Coming from the X52, the Warthog HOTAS will be a great upgrade you won´t regret. Depending on what you´re flying, i´d recommend not to buy the complete HOTAS. If your focus is on the Hornet, get the F/A-18 grip + the WH throttle and buy a VPC base. Will be about the same price as purchasing the WH HOTAS + the Hornet grip and you get around the gimbal issues. You just don´t get the F-16/WH grip that way. If you want both, the Hornet as well as the F-16/WH grip, get the HOTAS set + Hornet grip, purchase a better base later and sell the Warthog base on ebay if it´s still working perfect (or keep it in reserve).

True, it is. Most fighter jet grips are in fact i guess. Also sim grips made from plastic can have high material quality as well like VPC or VKB, but metal still has much better haptics and has a much better appearance in my opinion.

I purchased the F/A-18 grip shortly after TM released it and i´m absolutely happy with it. The Hornet is one of my all time favorite fighter jets and 99% of my DCS time takes place in the Hornet, so the grip was a must have from day one. It only has 2 not so dramatic drawbacks in my opinion. One is, like someone else said before, the plastic trigger instead of a metal one like it is with the original WH/F-16 grip. Second one is, that the upper part of the grip is made from ABS plastic while only the lower part (the one you realy grab) is made from metal. Very good built qualitiy, but still plastic (but hey, VPC and VKB grips are almost the same price while completely plastic). TM stated that this was not to reduce costs/price, but neccesary for balance on the base due to the Hornets grip shape. Well, real Hornet fans would have payed the higher price for a all metal construction anyways (at least i would have) and on a TM base with it´s heavy springs i realy doubt this to affect balance on the base. On my VPC warbird base with standard springs installed for example, balance definately benefits from that material combination. But both issues are not a deal breaker, at least not for me. The F/A-18 grip is a good way for slightly more immersion in the Hornets pit. Especially when center mounted, i can only recommend it. The price isn´t realy moderate, but regarding the built quality still ok in my opinion. I got it for a realy nice price and i saw a lot of ppl on the forum having a lucky deal as well. If you like the Hornet and spend a lot of time in it´s pit, don´t think twice if you see a good deal. Go get it!

Just wanted to say, that my order arrived today. The base itself is realy nice, but the screws are too long to mount it on both baseplates, the standard and the universal one. Thankfully i had some that fit perfectly, so that was nothing to worry about. Firmware update and calibration took a few minutes, but both TM grips work perfectly on the base. The springs are much softer than i expected compared to the TM base. Definately too soft for use with extension and the heavy TM grips, as you guys said. I don´t regret the purchase, it is a realy nice upgrade to the TM base, although i need to get used to the softer springs and different cams. Thanks again for the help cheers

Always enjoyed the GR tutorials and learned almost everything about the Hornet from them. A very good and enternaining source for DCS knowledge. Their campaign mission videos are also great.

I´m waiting for TWS since the Hornet´s early access start. As long as TWS + submodes are added to the Hornet with the next update, i won´t be disappointed.

I´m not going to use the WH grip with an extension on the Warbrd base. This will only be a sidestick config. For center mount i´m going to use the F/A-18 grip with extension on the TM base and will propably switch to a T50 base in a couple of months. Sadly the curved extension is not in stock right now and i had to place my order without it. But while the Hornet grip is slightly lighter than the original WH grip, i think (hope) that should do it on a T50 base in the future. Anyways, these are the only issues with that VPC base/TM grip combination? No known electronical or software issues with this setup? Wich base did you take for your center mounted setup? The T50 or the Warbrd? Cheers

Well, that´s a good point and tbh i didn´t take that into account. Absolutely with you there, the way they advertised it is a cheek. Also if you look at the fact, that i´ve seen ppl here on the forum getting the Warthog grip via TM customer support for around 100-120€ + shipping and they now sell the grip officially for 180€. Truly greedy, as you said. On the other hand, the Warthog grip is closer to an F-16 grip than to an A-10´s and the F-16 module is a better choice to re-hype their old grip/base than the A-10C module. Not defending TM, but at least from a marketing point of view it makes sense. Cheers

You got me wrong. What i was trying to say is, that TM just want´s to make more money by offering the grip and base separately due to this sells better. It´s not like i´m thinking TM is doing so to give people access to the Stick without beeing forced to buy it together with the base. I think they do so, just to avoid ppl buying a grip from different manufactor only because TM doesen´t offer a separate WH/F-16 grip without the base. Also they want to sell bases to ppl not willing to buy a complete Stick/HOTAS. So i realy do understand TM´s greed, it´s just that i don´t think they primarily aiming for dumb ppl buyng grip, base and throttle separate from each other, spending double the price compared to just buying the WH HOTAS. That would be horrible market analysis. It may be welcome to TM, but i realy think they´re aiming for selling their grips to ppl who otherwise wouldn´t buy a complete TM stick/HOTAS. Since the DCS: F16-C module is in early access, they propably have a lot of requests for the grip only from people that don´t even have any other TM controls and TM sees a chance to make these ppl new customers . Simple marketing i guess... I am a good example for that. I got my TM stuff for a while and i´m overall happy with it (base is still working perfect), but still want to get a better base for christmas. I will keep the TM grips, because i don´t want a plastic fantastic, no matter how good it´s manufactured - it stays plastic. Realsimulator, VKB, or Virpil were my candidates. Realsimulator only has their force sensitive base, wich i´m a bit sceptic about if i would like that, so no RS base for me. VKB has a different connector, but offers TM adaptors and it would be ok for me to convert my grips for the VKB base. BUT they don´t sell their bases separately from their grips, wich is the reason i will not buy a VKB base. I just don´t want to spend money for their "high quality but still plastic" grip wich i don´t even want to have. I would love to use the nice VKB base, but the fact Virpil is offering separate bases drawed me to their shop. So a separate offered base was the only reason Virpil making me a new customer. I´m pretty sure a lot of people thinking the same about the WH grip and TM just realised that. Cheers

Don´t think so. I think TM just realised, that separate grips and bases sell better than the complete package. Not everyone is willing/able to afford a Virpil or Realsimulator base after the TM base broke (and they do sometimes), so people are either buying a new Stick (base + grip) or try to repair it if TM doesen´t sell them a base as spare part. I believe most people won´t buy a new Stick, but rather try to repair it or even save a bit more money to get a different base. They propably got a lot of requests for base only or grip only. Also i think the DCS: F-16C module propably draws a lot of people with non TM bases to TM´s customer service asking for the grip only. Selling the base separately is just a way to keep customers and not having them buy a base from a different manufactor and selling the grip separately is meant to reach customers using already other bases. At least thats what i think it is...

Thanks for the hint, the WinWing HOTAS already catched my eyes and it looks promising. Only problem is, that it´s incompatible with my rig. From the pictures i´ve seen, i won´t be able to mount the throttle. And as you assumed, i`m only interested in a throttle. However, i haven´t seen any confirmed information that winwing is planning to sell it separately one day and last time i checked, their customer support seems to be horrible. If both changes, i may get one if i find a way to mount it to my rig. -

I would propably buy a F-16 throttle when the F-16 module is further developed one day, lets say as far as the Hornet is now. But not a grip, makes no sense if one already has the WH. More than a F-16 throttle, i would like to have F/A-18 throttle replica. Would buy that on day one. -
That´s truly some interesting info from you guys. Especially those pictures from you Baur helped a lot and covered everything i wanted to know about the measures. Less than a week if in stock sounds realy great, so i may get it prior to christmas. Did you pay with paypal? So extension related damages primarily meant for the grip instead of the base, or am i wrong? Anyways that´s ok for me, since i use a rig with no desk or whatever between me and the paddles and i don´t plan to use the warbrd center mounted. Space from left to right would propably be an issue with the Warbrd/WH deflection, rather than front/rear for me... I guess there is no way around a T50 base within the next few months... Or a T50+extension now and the Warbrd later? Damn, that´s a realy hard decision... Ah btw, maybe another question. Not sure if it´s worth asking since they´re officially compatible, but i´m still a bit concerned about it... Are there any known issues when using the TM Warthog or the TM F/A-18 grip on the VPC bases? Should work perfectly, shouldn´t they? Cheers

Hi all, I´m planning to upgrade my gear with a VPC WarBRD base and i did some research about it, but couldn´t find all the informations i need. I learned that the WarBRD base is meant for sidestick/desktop use without extensions, having about the same axis length as the TM Warthog base. Also, that use of extensions will void the WarBRDs warranty. My plan is to use the WarBRD base for my F-16 sidestick config and start to use the TM base, attached to its baseplate, center mounted with extension for my F/A-18 config. I´m aware about the TMs flaws in that term (gimbal, axis length) and that the VPC T50 base is a much better choice for that. But my budget says no to both at a time and my TM base is still working perfect. I want to order the WarBRD base together with the VPC curved extension, wich i think is a very nice one. I will never use it on the WarBRD base, but only on the TM base. Before i order any of that, i have a few questions about the VPC bases: 1) Can VPC identify the use (or non use) of an extension in case of a warranty related re-shipment? I´m asking this, because i don´t want to get into trouble just for ordering the WarBRD base together with the extension. 2) Do the VPC bases (T50 and WarBRD) fit on the TM baseplate? 3) If No.2 is not the case, can someone please give me the measures between the screw holes on the WarBRD base? 4) Do both VPC bases have different measures between their screw holes? 5) If No.4 is not the case, would a WarBRD baseplate with T50 base fit on a TM baseplate preparation, or would i have to drill new holes to mount the VPC baseplate to my rig? 6) How long does it usually take from order until delivery when ordered from Germany? 7) Prices on the VPC homepage are ex. VAT, but what do i have to pay in the end when delivered to EU/Germany? I hope i haven´t forgot anything and thank you guys in advance for your time Cheers

Very true. I used VS in combination with AWACS picture reports. When there were a lot of targets on the screen getting closer and i wanted to find out if there are some realy flying towards me. With RWS you had to lock on targets to see heading and speed, since there was no DL and no LTWS simulated back then. I found VS to be a good way to separate these targets without having to lock on to each of them prior to engagment and still have full scan range/width. However, i dont know if VS makes much sense with LTWS available but it would be nice to have it for completeness.

It´s been a while ago... but isn´t VS primarily meant to find targets closing in on you, assuming the target with the highest approach velocity beeing the most dangerous one? I remember to use this mode a lot in a well known F-16 sim in younger days. I´d love to have it in the Hornet...

Buttons in flight sims are like money and ammunition. You can never have enough of it :D Seriously, TARGET provides way more functions than just more buttons. For example, it defines the cuttoff/idle positions of the throttle as switches for a more realistic engine start/cutoff. This may be a peanut example, but i for myself like these little details and i don´t wanna have 2 way switches with only one position beeing able to be mapped. And there are a lot more of these little things with TARGET. You`re absolutely right, you don´t need TARGET for a great flight experience, but it´s also true that you´re missing a lot of the hogs potential without it. Not to talk about the script editor... Nice setup btw! May i ask what keyboard you have on the left side?

When creating/editing a profile, the cougar is listed as choosable device in TARGET GUI. I cant test it since i dont own the cougar, but i think this should work.

TARGET is way more versatile than DCS ingame mapping and provides more options. It allows you to map every switch position without beeing dependant on DCS "Joystick special" commands. Like Weegie said, GUI is more basic than the script editor, but does enhance the WH functions significant compared to DCS. Easy to use and provides a lot of options for your hotas, but to tap the full potential of the WH, you will need the script editor. There are some good tutorial vids on Youtube for both. If you re not willing to get into the SE, just try GUI. It will let you hot swap the grips without issues. Just make sure to exclude TM paddles (if you have some) from your profile, because TARGET morphes your hotas (and your paddles) into one virtual controller. Windows only allows 8 axis per controller and the WH hotas w/ paddles does have 10 axis. GUI is only used to map keys, axis are still set in DCS. So excluding the paddles doesent make much of a difference. cheers
