Stupid question, but did you calibrate the axis in Windows first? Because i remember a similar issue with my WarBRD base when i set it up for the first time. It was solved by calibrating axis in windows, after that i could calibrate axis in the Virpil software without any issues...

Very true. But it's not his opinion, it's his arguments. Well, in fact "never heard of this island", "no historical background" and "holiday island" aren't arguments at all. It's just a sign of lacking historical and geographical education and/or frustration. That's the point. Anything else is debatable.

Abolutely. Regarding to todays newsletter, we can hope to see it going early access in 2020. I still have doubts, but i'm hoping for this so desperately...

I think finishing the Hornet in 2020 is a realistic goal, even with the features that need correction. On the other hand, look at the A-10. There are still coming bug fixes and feature corrections, so i assume the Hornet will be going stable release this year but will still need work and corrections after beeing "finished". Not sure about the F-16, it's still far behind the Hornet. Finishing the F-16 this year in tandem with the Hornet seems to be promised a little bit too much. But we'll see...

Recommendations on new stick base?
VpR81 replied to pchRage's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
They don't. VKB bases do and it's basicaly a different connector, making it necessary to remove the original connector and wire the new one to your TM grips. It's not that kind of adapter you just install between grip and base. And these adapters are difficult to get as stated above, since they're all the time out of stock. If you're willing to do so and comfortable with buying base+grip in a bundle, VKB is propably a better choice than Virpil. If you want uncomplicated compatibility to your TM grips and purchase a base only, Virpil is. -
What exactly is the historical background of the caucasus region? Never ever heard of anything important took place over there... And what's the point of having WW2 planes prior to have a real WW2 map like normandy? Ppl should be thankful, that the devs earning their monthly income with this kind of work have put this amount of time and work into an addon we get for free. This is by far not a matter of fact, but a very noble gift to the community. Wether the map has tons of historical background, or not. It brings variety and that's what counts i guess. So thank you ED for a free map and all the work and effort you put into it! Keep up the great work

Totally agree with Imacken, beeing able to supply your customers with replacement parts is a basic rule for producing industry (where TM belongs to). Also TM is in general able to do so for other parts/products they produce in china as well. Therefore it makes absolutely no sense not to have these simple screws in stock for customer supply. TM has most propably a central storage warehouse for each national/continental market, like every worldwide operating company has. Imagine Mercedes Benz in the US would not be able to supply local customers with simple bumpers for a 100.000€ car, just because the specific model is produced in europe and they're not willing to send in some bumpers from overseas? And then advise the customer, that he should try to get some from ebay while they didn't tell him the supply part number... Epic fail. @ BlacleyCole Nevermind mate, you sounded pretty desperate so i'm glad i could help you out.

Recommendations on new stick base?
VpR81 replied to pchRage's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Definately Virpil. VKB bases are very nice as well. But first of all they don't offer separate bases, you will have to buy the complete stick what directly disqualified them for me. Also they have different connectors as stated above and you won't be able to use your TM grips. Unless you install a VKB-TM adaptor into your grips, but these are difficult to get as they're always sold out. Also this willl void the warranty of your new F/A-18 grip, as the grips have to be disassembled. For sidestick use i'd recommend the WarBRD base, as it is meant for desptock/sidestick use while the T-50 base has less deflection and is suited for center mounted use with extensions. The WarBRD base has about the same deflection as the TM base has, just with softer springs and center. I use the WarBRD base with the original WH grip side mounted as well as the TM base with extension and F/A-18 grip center mounted. If my TM base starts to show some play or even breaks i will definately get a T-50, no doubt. I'm absolutely happy with the quality of the WarBRD base and the T-50 is said to be even better. -
Let´s just hope these screws are the only TPR replacement parts TM does generally not have in stock. I don´t want to imagine i need new cables or sensors one day and get the same answer the OP got from TM.. This is realy remarkable, TM still offers replacement parts for the cougar but not some simple screws for their primary pedal system. Could no one at TM imagine, that it might be possible ppl could loose some of these screws? Unbelievable... Blacley, let us know if you can get some of these screws as it might be helpful for other ppl running against the same wall. Cheers mate

I noticed that. I wonder about this too, since i had to contact TM support a few times and they were always helpful and relatively fast. That TM does not have a load of these replacement screws in stock is close to an outrage. It realy suprises/shocks me as well, as i own the TPRs too and expect full support for them. No doubt, TM is failing here. But in case of just a 4 cent screw wich is not covered by warranty if lost and wich is easy to get, i´d rather get one by myself instead of waiting for any support, TM or whoever. Virpil sent me wrong screws with my WarBRD base so i couldn´t attach it to the included as well as the universal baseplate. They were simply too long. I did not even think about contacting them because of four tiny screws i´d have to wait about 2 weeks for (even while this would be covered by warranty), went to the hardware store and purchased a 100pcs box (just in case) for 3.99€ of screws that perfectly fit. What i´m trying to say is, that my priority would be to make sure the OP is able to use the TPRs and get back on the stick ASAP and none of us can make TM supply him although i´m aware of you are right that this is worrying. Therefore telling him screw measures and hints where to get those screws is the only reasonable attempt to help him, as he asked exactly for that.

The screws are fine threaded M3x20mm. You should be able to order them online if your local hardware store does not have them in stock. Is unnecessary anyways, since you can get a 100pcs box of these screws for like 4€ while TM would propably take 10€ from you for a set of 4. Besides the prices, i experienced the TM support to be excellent everytime i had to contact them.

I´m aware of that, but without any incoming missiles and no AAA fire i assume they explode because of nothing...

I had a Saitek X55 before and switched to the TM Warthog HOTAS when the Hornet launched early access. I´ve never looked back, nor regret it. The TM Warthog is definately worth it´s money, i´d buy it again any day. Just be aware that it´s not perfekt. The gimbal i.e. is made from plastic and needs regular greasing to avoid sticktion. The base has to be disassembled for that, but there are good tutorials on YT on that topic. If you´re going to stay with DCS/Flight Sims and the WH fits your budget, go get it!

Well the Harpoon and the HARM are both still WIP, while it looks to me as if the HARM works better (does more damage) in SP than in MP. I often have HARMs in MP exploding before they reach the target wich i never expierenced in SP. Well... Harppons too, but those get destroyed by enemy air defense. Unlike HARMS in MP, they sometimes just detonate because of nothing. When the HARMs not getting destroyed, they hit in 9 out of 10 shots, but it appears to me as if they´re doing significant less damage than in SP...
-
tbh i hope they go for gound/sea radar modes more than anything else...
-
Interesting. How is it set up? In the mission editor, or during briefing?
-
Are there any aircraft modules in DCS that come with a DTC feature at the moment?
-
Absolutely nothing wrong with that, i sometimes buy second hand as well. But i bet your 2nd hand Heusinkveld pedals were still several hundred bucks. Would love to have some too, but new they´re absolutely out of my budget and i could´t find a decent ebay offer for used ones yet... Can´t identify it on the pics, but are yours SPRINT or even ULTIMATE pedals? Nice pit project by the way. Looking good next to your sim racing gear!
-
That is indeed interesting. You should talk to ED, that would be a dream to have in DCS!

I´m doing slotcar racing as a hobby and the controllers/switches need regular greasing as well. Tamiya offers specific switch/controller lubricant originaly meant for those and i used it to grease my WH gimbal too. Propably not a perfect solution, but the Tamiya lubricant is antistatic (so no worries about electronics), can be used on both metal as well as plastic and i had good results with it...

I came from the X55 to the WH as well and it was a huge step forward, in terms of precision and the quality of my controls hardware. It also opened the door to a world of modifying and customization the X55 could never provide. The compatibility to Virpil and Realsimulator bases/grips furthermore makes the overall system very versatile. It´s not perfect (gimbal needs greasing from time to time) nor cheap, but this is an investment in your flightsim hobby you won´t regret! The increased joy during flight was worth every cent. Just be aware that it comes with less buttons than the X55 and only one spring, wich is significant heavier than what you might be used to. Softer and even stronger springs can be purchased from 3rd party manufactors like Sahaj and there are a lot of other spare parts to adjust it to your needs, like slew mods or customizable replacement panels. Cheers

Nevermind, just be aware that it is what the title says. It won´t tell you specificly when to use rudder in combat, but helps getting a fine grasp of when it might be useful.

besides landing i´d say this pretty much depends on your IAS, AoA and (close) combat situation. edit: In combination with seat time/training, this is a very good guide about the topic in generall. Well, not realy. It´s the bible:
