My fault. I feed the troll...

Correction, not yet in the F-16. The F/A-18 does already have that feature.

Looks great. Please realize it:worthy:

I have my TV as standard screen connected to my PC. My 5.1 sound system is plugged in my PC soundcard and my headset plugged in my TV. For the headphone (and VoIP) channel i have the TV selected as output device and for the rest have the PC soundcard selected as output device. Works great, warning sounds and radio calls on my headset, engine and other envroinment sounds on my 5.1 sound system. edit: And got the TV selected as output device for external VoIP software as well, to keep the immersion for MP

The Hornet is a great and versatile entry into full fidelity aircraft and now is the best time to get it. As stated above, get the Hornet+Persian Gulf bundle and then the supercarrier on 50% discount. If you prefer naval ops or not, you won´t regret it. Just be aware that the SC is on pre-purchase and will approximately be relased at the end of Q1. The Hornet is not finished yet and still missing some features, but it´s very much mission capable and a dream to fly.

The 30% cut is not such a big disadvantage for software developers, as some people want to make believe, since they sell way more games via Steam than they would stand alone. Otherwise EA would stay off Steam. They don´t sell cars, where they would have to sell each car for a price that exceeds the production costs of one unit in order not to loose money. Software devs sell only copies of their product and the price they take for it is pretty unimportant. They just need to sell enough of them in order to make profit. At a 50% discount for each copy, they simply need to sell double the copies and will still have profit unlike i.e. a car manufactor. There weren´t that much discounts on Steam about 10 years ago. Until Valve did a long term research about discounts and they learned, the higher the discount, the more games they sell. At a 50% discount, they sold 6 times more games making triple the money. After that, Valve started to have massive discounts in short intervalls. So the claim, discounts are bad for software developers is a myth and nothing more. The total opposite is fact. I´m downloading updates for all of my Steam games with about 40 (fourty) MB/s on a 400Mbit connection. What again is your standalone download speed for DCS updates? Calling us fanboys, because we prefer a Ferrari over a Ford Fiesta on a no speed limit highway? You´re the man sherlock, you totally got it! :megalol:

I haven´t tried 10 or 15cm with the standard spring, but with the Virpil 20cm (s-type) extension only and TM Hornet grip on top, the spring of the WH base struggles to recenter the stick and with the even heavier WH grip attached, it doesen´t recenter at all. I´m now using the WH base with Sahaj´s blue spring and Virpil 10cm extension + 5cm extension + 20cm s-type extension with Hornet grip on top and it´s okay. Sahaj offers the red spring for 10-20cm extensions and i would highly recommend that for you. And if switching springs anyways, Sahaj´s silicone rings are also worth a look. Can only recommend them, the original rubber ring wears out relatively fast and silicone has a much longer lifetime...

I´d suggest the universal base plate from Virpil. I use two of them, one for my WarBRD base and one for my TM base

100% agree with that. Also Steam provides fast download servers, sales with up to 90% discount, formidable community and modding support (i.e. Steam-Workshop), easy swap from stable to alpha/beta versions and a lot more, most stand alone game users can only dream of. This can only come from someone who never touched Steam. Plain and simple. Back in the very first days when Valve released Half-Life 2, i remember Steam to be horrible. But the platform evolved greatly over the years and i don´t wanna miss it anymore. I strictly stopped purchasing PC games outside of steam years ago and this won´t change. I realy don´t care about if it would be better for the devs (sorry for that, but i´m not Mother Theresa and at least i´m honest), because Steam is better for me. And that´s what counts in the end of the day. If ED or any other dev/publisher would not massivly benefit from Steam, no one would pay the 30% cut Valve takes from them. Electronic Arts (wich is by far bigger than ED) left Steam behind in 2012 because of the 30% cut and is now coming back to Steam with all of their games, admitting that their own platform (Origin) cannot compete with Steam and that it was one of their worst decisions to leave. EA had to learn it the hard way. According to steamspy, all Steam users together have a complete playtime in 2019 of 92 million years. This prooves Steam to be by far the most important games marketplace in the world and that every dev/publisher very much benefits from Steam, while Steam beeing at the same time highly customer friendly. edit: Another thing i realy love is the fact, that i can just copy/paste my complete Steam folder to another SSD or even a different PC and all the games will perfectly run without reinstall. This feature is steam exclusive afaik.

Honestly? No. The attached thumbnail wasn´t your placed order?

As stated above, you will need to tell the base via Virpil software that there is a different grip attached, but that´s all. DCS can handle a controller beeing plugged in/out pretty good, there is no need to restart DCS after plugging in controllers or switching grips. It would be similar with the TM base and Target. But besides that, i would highly recommend to cut your base from power supply before switching grips. I wouldn´t want to have electronic signals running through the pins while i break contact. And while DCS will recognize the "new" controller, cutting of power to the base won´t make much of a difference. I was switching between Warthog and F/A-18 grip regulary on both my TM and my WarBRD base before center mounting the TM and never restarted DCS but only turned off the USB hub my controls are plugged in.

No taxes?

No, my brother wanted to purchase one. But he was too late to order one, as it was sold out 5 minutes or so after shop restock...Pretty hard to get one of those i guess. If you have already ordered one months ago and didn´t recieve it yet, you should definately contact virpil and ask what happened...

I use the Warthog grip on a WarBRD base and there is no issue mapping the buttons ingame. You will only need the software to calibrate the base, select the attached grip and if the base is mounted on the right or the left side. The rest is up to you, maybe a firmware update in order to use the TM F/A-18 grip as it needs the latest firmware to work, but thats all.

Good luck with that. For the pedals, i´d highly recommend some with toe brakes. As stated before, your interests may change and if so, you´ll regret having purchased some without toe brakes. I had the chance to try out the Virpil ACE 1 pedals of a co-worker and they are absolutely great. This was the first time i regret having purchased the TPRs instead of going for the even cheaper Virpil pedals. Well, they weren´t available back then, but i should have waited just a few months until these hit the market...

True, but our propeller guys are a little bit short of content in DCS and they need more variety keep them addicted. My brother primarily flies warbirds and he loves the WW2 planes in DCS, but is somehow disappionted about the maps, available servers and the asset pack. I was afraid he may leave DCS behind in favor for a different WW2 sim and i´m very happy about the newsletter, as he is very excited about it and can´t wait for the new map and asset pack content. I want him to stay, because i´m still trying to make him purchase the Hornet in order to addict him to modern jets and the newsletter gave me hope

I have always strictly followed ED´s tutorial to open the bleed air valves after the right engine was cranked and IIRC it opens back both "RHT BLD" and "LFT BLD". I have never faced that issue of no external center line tank fuel consumption...

Same in green here. Got a Warbrd for sidestick and a TM center mounted. I wanted to switch to a T50 within the next months, but i assume i will have to regrease my TM base a couple of more times while waiting for a CM3 (wich will hopefully fix that design flaw) to be available...

Well, i´m facing a similar problem as i have my Hotas and paddles mounted to my rig and there is literally no frame or anything that is meant to mount MFDs. I haven´t purchased any MFDs yet as i was concerned of about how to mount them and that´s how i ran into the Monstertech MFD mounts just yesterday. I think with that gimbal they could easily be attached to my sidemount where my throttle is attached. This beeing said, i don´t have a Monstertech rig. I won´t need to prepare my rig by drilling new holes or something, just switch the screw of the MFD mount gimbal. Got to take a look on that Foxx Mounts triple MFD mount though... I´m not aware of any standalone MFD mounts, but maybe you want to convert a center stick desk mount into a MFD mount? Wouldn´t that work? edit: I googled the "Foxx Mount triple mfd mount" and i could only find some pictures. I think it´s not some kind of specific mount meant to attach MFDs, but rather some kind of customized stick mount holding their MFD mounting plates. Similar to the Monstertech MFD mounts. At least that´s what i think i saw on these pictures. Propably that´s the way to go for you...
-
Monstertech offers specific MFD mounts with or w/o gimbal to be used with their deskmounts side mount https://www.monstertech.de/en/product/mfd-tablet-mount/ center mount https://www.monstertech.de/en/product/mfd-tablet-center/

I own both and would definately recommend the Hornet. As many ppl stated, the Viper is far behind the Hornet in developement and has less variety in ordonance + the Hornet provides naval ops/anti ship capability (at least in theory, as the AGM-84 is still WIP). Also there won´t be any discounts on the Viper in the nearby future while the Hornet is on a 25% discount right now i think, so you would get way more for your money. Both will be fantastic jets once completed, but the Hornet is definately closer to that stage. So get the Hornet first and the Viper later...

The Hornet does only have flaps full/half/auto options. Afaik there is no way to make them stay up during flight.

Very nice work, especially the MFD´s frame looks great. Good luck with your project!

Any New F-16 Throttle being made anywhere?
VpR81 replied to Davee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Same here. I mean, i´m not a virtual Tomcat pilot (maybe some day), but while we are blessed with numerous grip replicas from various manufactors, it would be much appreciated to have more variety in the throttle replica section... -
Hi, i don´t think so. My Brother wants to order the T50-CM2 Throttle as well, but it´s all the time out of stock. On the Virpil Homepages restock schedule they say, that they will restock the shop on january 30. and the CM2 Throttle is marked with "coming soon" in the shop. I placed two orders in the last 60 days, first took 2 weeks to arrive and the second 3 weeks. 110 days is pretty long in my opinion. In this case, i would just drop Virpil a few lines when your CM2 will be available. edit: They changed date to january 26 and the T50-CM2 Throttle is listed as "restock item" for this day. So i think you will get yours around that date...
