  1. I´m not sure about that, but isn´t there some kind of "deep calibration" software on the TM support that allows you to zero all axis if the TARGET/windows calibration doesn´t help anymore? I think i read about that some time ago on SimHQ...
  2. I´m using TARGET for my Throttle and map my grips in DCS, so i have no profile for you. But maybe you wanna try joystick gremlin? I don´t have experience with this software, but it´s reputation seems to be excellent...
  3. Not blaming ED for this, but it somehow felt like beeing excluded from the community. I know Steam is a giant and if they won´t allow another exception for a DLC pre-purchase, there is nothing Ed could do about it. One can´t win against Steam in this term and we can´t demand ED confronting one of their buisness partners. So a very big thanks that you guys still don´t forget about us!
  4. Thanks a lot for these infos. That´s interesting, as i´m always between 90-93% Mil-power depending on carried ordonance. Never had to use AB, but i assume the Hornets FM isn´t perfect yet. I haven´t tried AAR below 25k for a single time since i started to do AAR with the Hornet about a year ago. I´m comfortable with it now, but i guess trying to learn it at lower altitudes would´ve saved me a lot of frustration...
  5. What are the standard refueling altitudes? I always set the tanker on orbit at 25000ft or 30.000ft in ME... i guess that´s not correct/realistic?
  6. Virpil is going for a F-14 Throttle? Any more infos about that?
  7. That´s not the point. I´m not talking about using the grip loose without tightening it. The point is, that this could happen WHILE tightening the grip as pppl might be used to the warthog base, where you can comfortable tighten the grip without holding it in place. If they do so with the WarBRD, they´ll damage their connector pins as the grip will fall to the side if not holded in place. Pretty much obvious, isn´t it? And it makes very much sense. As i said. tighten something (flightstick grip or whatever) by taking screws out and make something loose by tightening screws... that is what makes absolutely no sense. That would be like trying to get dry by jumping in the swimming pool. Or just name one thing in the world, that is beeing tighten by taking screws OUT. If i had some hardware that is tight and starts to wiggle after screws get tighten, i´d send it back.
  8. Iam a little bit surprised, since mine is sitting tight without the smallest movement and i have my screws still in as well. It also doesn´t make any sense, to tighten something by removing the screws and make it move by tighten these screws, regardless if it´s a flightstick grip or whatever. My interpretation is, that removing these screws is related to the connector itself. When i put my Hornet (or WH) grip on my TM base, the stick is stiff on the connector itself without tighten the screw wheel. I could take my hands off and it wouldn´t fall off to the side. Very different with my WarBRD base, without tighten the grip, the stick is loose on the connector and would fall to the side if i´d take my hands off. This would cause critical damage to the connector pins and to avoid that, you should take the screws off so the base connector would fall to the side together with the grip without damaging the pins.
  9. Well, that highly depends on your overall setup...i have the TPR system for like a year now and i´m absolutely happy with it. Quality, precision and materials are what you would expect for that price. BUT, they are definately not suited for "under a desk" use. If your seat/chair position is too high in relation to the pedals, operating them (especially toe brakes) is a pain. I used them for a couple of months under my desk before i got my simrig and it was not fun. On my rig now, the pedals are just a little bit lower than my knees (maybe 10cm in difference) and it´s just perfect. Also keep in mind that the system is relatively heavy, but will still slide over the bottom. It´s better to mount them. And as the OP stated, the springs are a bit too soft.
  10. I think this restricts GPS (SATelite NAVigation) to aircrafts beeing able to use GPS navigation in real live. Not sure, but that´s what it sounds to me.
  11. So, i hope this is posted in the correct section I used the search function but haven´t found any discussion about this yet and i´m realy wondering why. I played a lot of ArmA 3 (~3000hrs), spent a lot of time in the mission editor there and love the similarities the DCS editor does have (well, in some ways). Something i realy miss is the option to share missions directly. Back in the days i shared some of my better missions on the Steam Workshop and there is a very easy option for that implemented in the ArmA editor. There is just a simple button wich pops up a window where you can choose if you want to share a new mission in the Steam Workshop, or update one that is already uploaded. I´m not sure about how Steam Workshop license work and if there is even interest in that from ED´s side, but i think that would be a great addition to the editor. Maybe in combination with an upload to the ED homepage in tandem, missions crafted by stand alone DCS users for DCS steam version users and the other way around. Not every DCS user is active on the forum or searches the ED homepage for new missions and this would be a good way to provide easy access to all user built missions for the whole community. What do you guys think, or what is ED saying about this?
  12. You can select the output device in the sound tab separately for each channel. I play DCS with my PC connected to my TV and have my 5.1 sound system connected to my soundcard and my headphones plugged in to my TV. Main sound channel has the soundcard as output device and headphone channel as well as VoIP channel is set to my TV as output device. So i´m getting engine sound and detonations etc. on my 5.1 sound system and VoIP, radio chat and warning sounds over my headphones. If you have plugged your speakers to your (onboard) soundcard and you headphones via USB, try to set your headphone channel and VoIP channel to your USB output device and main sound channel to your (Realtek?) onboard soundcard as output device. edit: Well this however only makes sense, if you can hear the sound on your speakers while you got your headphones on. I have "on-ear" headphones instead of "over-ear" and i get clear radio chat while still beeing able to hear the engine sound and stuff like having a helmet on. Great for immersion btw...
  13. Forgot to make the Maverick SOI would be my first suggestion as well...
  14. Try to set PRF to HIGH. It´s the lower button on the left side of your radar displayed ddi

    F-15E?

Well, the pilot can (almost) completely operate the F-15E without WSO, so there is not realy a need for a backseat AI except for a lower workload. Yes, that sucks a little bit for SP as it complicates operating the bird effectively, but it´s still full mission capable (when complete). But if there is multicrew for MP, it doesen´t make much of a difference in my opinion. I´m doing mostly SP / 2 player coop missions in DCS and rarely MP, but this realy wouldn´t be a deal braker for me...
  16. The slew sensor isn´t very good on the Warthog, that is true. But in comparison to the X-55/56, the Saitek/Logitech HOTAS are waaay more overpriced than the Warthog and Saitek/Logitech hasn´t done anything about the numerous and partly significant problems this thing has. They came up with two "rebuilt" versions, all having the same problems the very first X-55 already had. I heard of ppl owning both, the 55 and the 56, saying quality even got worse. There are only two differences. New stickers and higher price. I owned the X-55 for several years and i had ghosting issues from the beginning, buttons stopped working after a while and in the end some buttons on the throttle did only work at certain throttle positions. Be careful with the wheel for throttle friction, setting this too tight will cause some of these problems... Replaced it with the Warthog and never had any issues with it. Besides the slew sensor, the Warthog is in every aspect 10 times better than the X-56 and opens the door to a world for modding and customise your flight controls, the Saitek/Logitech counterparts can never provide (while beeing only 100 bucks cheaper than the WH). If you treat it well and grease the gimbal from time to time it will serve you many years without issues and you can use the grips on various bases of other manufactors. I use my WH grip on a Virpil base for sidestick now and the Hornet grip on the Warthog base center mounted with metal extension and it still works perfectly. Impossible with the X-55/56. In relation to the quality, versatility, precision and used materials, the Warthog provides great flight controls for a moderate price, while the buggy and plastic X-55/56 is totaly overpriced.
  17. Overall i find this to be a nice deal for Hornet owners, but if the Kuznetsov is only updated with this module they should give a little discount for Su-33/FC3 owners too. Is there any info about the price yet, or did i miss that?
  18. Is the Y axis detected by Windows? Then maybe a win calibration might help. If not i´d open it and check if any cables or plugs are loose. Otherwise i would suggest contacting customer support. But there was orthodox christmas last monday and they are propably on holidays. I placed an order on december 28 wich is not shipped yet...
  19. Well that's true. I meant very easy in comparison to the first try of course. "easy" is always relative...
  20. I would simply drill out the screw with a drilling bit that is tiny smaller than the screws core diameter. Then clean up the thread with a mini steel brush and don't forget to use high quality replacement screws that won't snap in half again. As long as you know what you're doing, it's actually very easy with the correct tools.
  21. Very nice, congratulations. When i started to train AAR i thought it was the hardest thing on the planet. I played with activated wake vortex from the beginning and it took me uncounted tries before i was able to refuel complete, but it felt awesome when i finally made it. After that, it got better pretty quick. Now able to fully refuel with 3 ext. tanks, stay in position when the tanker starts turning and easily connect during the turn and/or to brake down perfectly with massive overspeed (was not a goal, but i simply suck at measuring velocity). Just keep training and it will become very easy.
  22. You would need to install the Software in order to perform a firmware update, but you don't need to map keys in the software. However, you'll loose a lot of the Warthogs capabilities if you choose not to use the TARGET software, no matter if it's the script editor or the GUI. It has it's flaws, but the possibilities the software provides are great. You'll find a lot of people here in the forum that hate it, while there are also a lot that love it. I don't wanna miss it...
  23. If you want it cheap and easy, i'd suggest getting an extension for your WH and place your chair on some kind of bottomplate, wood or metal. Drill 4 holes into it that match with the holes of the Warthogs baseplate, attach the TM base to it's baseplate and mount everything on your bottomplate, voilá. Just make sure your bottom plate has a fitting size and is heavy enough not to move around.
  24. Realy good idea! Gotta try this out as well.
  25. So it's definately the base. I'd open it and check if any cables or connectors are loose. Otherwise contacting Virpil support is propably the best solution for your issue. I'm sure they know what to do and have replacement boards or sensors in stock if needed. edit: I heard of a few ppl having issues with the internal cables of the WarBRD base, so you may wanna check this out before contacting Virpil...
