If helos are your main focus and you want to be relatively serious, then I highly suggest a joystick with an extension. An extension will make the biggest difference when it comes to controls. I myself ordered the VKB Gunfighter with 20cm extension. For 400€ you will only get the stick without a throttle but it's top quality! Warthog is also excellent for use with extensions. You can find many third party manufacturers and you could get the whole HOTAS with an extension for 400€. An extension will also solve the stiffness problem. However, the plastic gimbal is crap, AFAIK, so prepare to do some maintenance there with sand paper and grease.

Thank you very much for your work PilotMi8 and NineLine! That is great news to hear! We only need a couple reassuring words every few months to know that we are not forgotten. I can't wait to get to my choppers in summer when I get my new extended VKB joystick and a new PC!

I don't see a problem with this. Everything is how it used to be and now the there's only more choice. A certain online shop that I've used gives their customers a 3% "discount" when you pay with bank transfer instead of Paypal or other robbers. I'd always gladly pay with bank transfer if it would always save me 3%. At these prices that equals to loads of beer. :beer:

How far away do the new angled mounts put the joystick from the table and is the vertical drop any different?

I'm confused. Why wouldn't I want to buy the WarBRD for half the price instead to use it mounted with an extension if I know that the larger throw will not create problems? The biggest issue is the clearance to my chair as a straight extension puts the stick too much forward. Thus a curved extension is what I need. I'm really looking forward to the keyboard mount. An analog ministick and a properly curved extension are also a must for me. I'm getting a bit confused on whether I should and should've waited for all of these features as I've bought the throttle already. Can we expect to be able to retrofit analog ministicks to the throttle or a grip in the future?

I took apart the throttle yesterday. Apart from the funny amount of hot glue and a couple of hand filed plastic parts, all looks very simple and modular, very solid. I was impressed.

So, since the European dealer is of no use, when can we expect stock on Aliexpress? I'm willing to wait a month or two but will buy Virpil next week if I can't expect anything for the next few months. This VKB dealership system is really confusing for the customers. One thinks that he's talking to the representatives here on forums but they don't have any responsibility to the issue or any idea what's going on with other dealers. Should at least mention that in your signature as AeroGator is taking unnecessary flak here. I understand that the manufacturer needs partners around the world to deliver their products but it has not been made clear in any way how this works. With Virpil, you have one website and when you're talking to the reps, you know you're talking directly with the official source. VKB should make this stuff clear and keep the dealers on shorter leash.

Hi AeroGator, do you know if there will also be sticks with bases available soon and how long is the waiting time approximately? Any Gunfighter based stick with base will do. An extension would also be nice.

The ones on VKB stick are the same ones as in console gamepads. They are accurate and durable and should solve the issues of previous generations of flight control systems. Not meaning to hijack the thread in Virpil side of the forum, sorry. Virpil products are fantastic and, like said, I would gladly buy the whole set. Same goes for VKB. The perfect combo doesn't exist though and now we just have to mix and match.

+1 Patiently waiting to buy the VKB stick because of the analog stick. I already got the Virpil throttle and would really have wanted to buy the whole set.

+1 It's a great and highly capable chopper with some outdated systems. If it's upgraded for us like some of the airframes were, I would see nothing wrong with that. My main wants are FLIR and MWS (and maybe RWR) but of course only such stuff that was actually developed. These would provide it a modern attack capability while not being a sitting duck for the hunters. Two "simple" upgrades that provide a large increase in situational awareness. ED also has a habit of doing contract work for armed forces of various countries. Ka-50 and A-10C are exactly such projects that started as military simulator contracts. I'm certain that there is very concrete knowledge and good contacts with the right people. Ka-50 is also not operational anymore, which simplifies it's use in commercial products.

Will only buy it if it's a different variant with new capabilities. I will not pay third time for the same aircraft. A new variant would be very exciting though!

I've been thinking about this and also considered that if they have enough money from us, then they will have more resources to keep the modules alive. Thus I bought stuff just recently. On the other hand if there is even no promise to keep modules alive, then why waste money and hope for something that will never come and everything you currently have paid for will be useless in a couple of years? I will have to jump on your boat and pay only for products I can trust. There are too many of my modules broken for several years now without a promise to fix them.

I have used Babbel for basics and Fun Easy Learn for vocabulary on Android. That was for German language but they were the best Android apps for high quality, easy and relaxed learning and should work for any language they support. Babbel is not free but totally blew another highly rated app out of the water quality wise.

Can't wait to get back to DCS. I hope to see my favourite modules of Ka-50, UH-1H and A-10C fixed soon! Sad to come back looking how's it going and seeing all these modules so broken.
