Duct tape an ak47 to a pylon and you've got a good start.

Is there any sort of wing bounce, flex, torque, vibration etc animated when undergoing an appropriate amount of force? I'm not sure how much the real wings react to airflow, just curious if it's something that is implemented.

Few things: game crash and emergency flaps/gear
S. Low replied to S. Low's topic in Bugs and Problems
4) "In-Cockpit" afterburner sound only works when I'm facing forward. When I look over my shoulder (using track ir5), the afterburner sound goes away. Sound comes back as soon as I look forward again. -
Ah ok cool. Well that solves part of the mystery, now I'm just curious why he can't identify an unknown when it is within 50nm? Something to do with jamming?

1) Entire game crashed. I was on the second mission of cage the bear, was in route to waypoint one. I had the tape player playing some music. I stopped the music, pushed my button to flip sides, and the whole game just shut off. No error or anything. Just poof, desktop. Steam version. 2) I'm practicing guns BFM with a mig21, he got a small burst of guns into my fuselage before I maneuver killed him. Master alarm went off and my alarm panel shows hydraulic failure. Gear won't lower. I tried the Emergency Gear extend but it only raises the gear lever? I tried mapping it to keys and hotas buttons but the gear lever just comes up, no landing gear lowers. 3) The manual says emergency flaps up and down are detent positions past the normal travel path of the flap lever. I can't get this to work at all. Even the keybindings just act as redundant flaps lower and raise to the normal flap lever position. Is this a bug or not implemented?

I'm still new so maybe this is obvious but I've not found it in the manual or Chuck's guide. Now I know there's a way to use the IFF somehow as a human RIO (I just haven't practiced the back seat yet), but I was wondering if there's a way to command Jester to do an IFF interrogate? Or maybe this isn't what I'm looking for. What I'm wondering is why do I often have "unidentified" sensor tracks on TWS that are within 50nm? If it's unidentified, I assume Jester (or human rio) can identify it somehow? Or is this an automatic process of the AWG-9? Thanks!:book:

Yeah I know. I'm asking when the "in-cockpit" pilot body was going to be completed? Makes the experience cooler imo. Also those cool scenes in trailer with Rio holding the hand hold are just fluff I assume?

Im not entirely sure why you'd need to get the F5 before the F14. Just understand that you have to be gentle on the stick, and beyond that it's just practice and stick time. I dove into the F14 a week or so ago and it's amazing. Best flight sim experience ever. And now I want to get the F5 just for funsies, not because I think it's some sort of training wheels.

The initial post mentioned in-cockpit pilots would be added shortly. Are they in and I missed how to activate, or are they delayed? Thanks.

Thank you to both the recent responses. This does help. I've since reduced my curvature to 0 for the stick axes and it seems fine. If I feel the need then I'll max it to 5. I'm used to tiny inputs from flying helo. Your explanation is very helpful. Reminds me almost word for word of inspecting parts that I make with cnc, discerning changes in the .01" range. Eventually you can see very small details and variations but it takes practice. Thanks again for the help.

Oh man, that helps a bunch. Thanks!

I can't figure out how to read my airspeed, please help my brain noodle out these hieroglyphics. So as I read and understand it, the first 3rd of the dial shows knots (times 10). This seems pretty straight forward in that when the arrow points at 15 the Airspeed is 150 knots. And this section ends at 200 knots, right before the .7 mach. Correct? Now my confusion: .7 mach is 466 knots according internet converter. Is there a way it is reading to me the Airspeed in between 200 and 466, or am I misunderstanding the calculator? Also, I think the inner dial reads knots. So when it says 40 I assume that means 400 knots, but this doesnt correspond correctly with the mach number unless I'm calculating incorrectly. Further, if when the inner dial is at "40" it means 400 knots, then why when I check map does my airspeed say 529ish? 529, as I recall, actually would correspond correctly to the mach number according to the calculator. But I'm a bit corn fused by which thing I'm reading incorrectly

I fly helicopters with no curves. I've been learning the tomcat with curvature set at 20 with 0 deadzone. Granted I've only been flying this for about a week, but I have to say that air to air refueling is driving me nuts. I can't focus on controlling the aircraft and preventing PIO because I can't for the life of me figure out why i can't maintain speed with these tankers. Is it just not possible to maintain speed? Is this a "feel" situation where I just have to learn how to throttle up and down constantly in a way that "clicks" at some point, like when you first fly a helo? I know part of this is I can't read the air speed dial in the tomcat at all. Those prominent mach numbers are of no use to me and I don't understand how the inner dial works. 40 x 10 should be 400 knots , so if I'm at 400 knots I should be about matching a tanker doing 429, yet I ZOOM past it and then I check the map and it shows my airspeed at over 500. Lol I'm clearly reading something incorrectly. I can trim the aircraft out just fine. Several attempts now I've had great control and was nearly in the basket, but then I get PISSED because I can't maintain airspeed properly and it seems like the tanker isn't maintaining airspeed either. Is this why it's so hard in real life, because there's no way to maintain airspeed, you just gotta rub the throttle back and forth like you're rubbing a magic lamp and hope you stay in position? I'm frustrated... gotta work at it I guess haha

This is a fantastic answer and I agree completely. I spent many years playing, testing, and providing feedback etc on apache mods for arma 2 and 3. In my head I thought of sims as "realism in context," but I think you describe it better in that you need to bring to life the "character" of the tomcat, and I think you succeeded. Commanding jester to set custom waypoints, cycle through radar modes, change radio channels or set new ones, set cms programs, all while I manage flight has been a really great experience and it's the dream I always had when working on arma apaches. I wanted to have full control of the aircraft in singleplayer, whether that was through direct control or commands. And the arma commands were very limited. The tomcat got it done to a degree I've never seen before and I'm loving every second of it. Especially when I land hard and jester gives me shit about it, or if I miss the refuel basket and he asks me if I need him to reach out and grab it :/ Understanding that a 2 seat aircraft should not be gated to only multi crew is one of the best aspects of your design philosophy

Carrier Landing Instructions (from an 8 year old)
S. Low replied to S. Low's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Glad y'all enjoyed this :D Kids and their brutal honesty are fantastic. My daughter hasnt watched me attempt mid air refueling yet :/ -
My 8 year old was watching me practice my first ever carrier landings and she got a lot of entertainment out of watching me crash into the back of the carrier... When I finally succeeded she ran off to draw up these highly detailed visual aids of the do's and don't's of carrier landings. They are hung up right next to my computer for easy reference. Thanks, kiddo lol.

Haven't had the module very long yet, but my favorite so far is when I get a bandit at 12 ready for guns, jester says "let's see some of that pilot shit!"

Dear Heatblur, holy cow, what an amazing job!
S. Low replied to TheHighwayman's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I just picked this module up on Friday. It's absolutely stunning. Granted the only other paid module I have is the uh-1 (love u, huey), but I can tell this f14 is a passion project. You guys earned every penny of the price of this game. I've been flight simming off and on since the 90s and this module just screams masterpiece. It's like seeing the brush strokes of a van Gogh for the first time or something to that effect. I wish you the best of luck in future endeavors, and hope to see more campaigns. I'm still busy learning the f14 so I haven't touched all the mission content yet but I know I'll want more lol -
Purchased the f14 a few days ago. I'm blown away and loving it. What is different about the A model, just weaker engines?

Su25 HUD moves around the cockpit like a target reticle...
S. Low replied to S. Low's topic in Bugs and Problems
Another weird thing is the HUD seems to only respond to keyboard zoom and not Track IR zoom. So if I use in-game keyboard zoom out (far right pic), then lean in physically (middle and left pic), the HUD remains zoomed out. -
Su25 HUD moves around the cockpit like a target reticle...
S. Low replied to S. Low's topic in Bugs and Problems
Mini HUD is not checked. -
The HUD is following my line of sight for some reason. It stays where it is supposed to be if the hud glass is in my field of view, but as soon as its not in my FOV then the HUD follows my eyes around the cockpit glass. The HUD won't follow my eyesight to the seat though. This seems like a bug... but is it possible I activated some weird setting? Thanks

Release date is....? :)

Oh I want to, but I just purchased the F-16 a week ago. Gotta figure out where to materialize $80 from.
