  1. He describes the engine in the video. Looks like a single engine but I can go re watch it over lunch break Edit: you have almost the same computer specs as me! Lol neat
  2. Hello, I apologize if this has already been discussed. Here's my original reddit post which has the video evidence In the video the real uh-1 achieves a 5ftish hover at a stated 40-45% collective, 20-25 torque, with fuel and 5 souls. (The guy said he only needed about "half" collective to achieve hover) In game the huey achieves a 5ft ish hover at 60% collective, 28 torque, with fuel and 2 souls. In the early parts of the video the pilot describes his huey as a Vietnam era model and shows the door gun mounts, so I assume it's the h model that we have. He also identifies his engine, but I didn't think to compare it to dcs... whoops. (Also, Vrs seems excessive in dcs)
  3. Is it still correct that the Huey engine and rotor are being re-worked? I don't recall reading any news about it in ED's 2020 plans.
  4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiservice_tactical_brevity_code?wprov=sfla1 I think the fox 1-3 system is great. However, i'm curious as to why there's a completely different word for almost every type of bomb and a2g missile? How is this still brevity? In my lowly civvie mind I think it'd be more logical to use the fox 1-3 model for all weapons: Rifle 1: laser guided a2g missile Rifle 2: thermal guided a2g missile Rifle 3: radar guided a2g missile Pickle 1: laser guided bomb Pickle 2: dumb bomb Pickle 3: cluster bomb OR just simple say rifle for a2g missile, and pickle for bomb. I'm not sure what the need is to call out the exact a2g weapon. Perhaps someone could educate me on that.
  5. Also your pitch/roll curvature in settings should be like 5 maximum. F-14 is more like a helo, requiring many light and smooth inputs.
  6. Was just playing a singleplayer combat mission and had zero success with IFF of any aircraft on my screen. I was using manual SCS too. So either we're all doing somethign wrong or there's another bug.
  7. lol so there IS a zoom function for the radar screen? I'm a dumby.
  8. Go to the main menu of the bottom screen then select flir. Bottom left button switches between grey scale and the whot/bhot. Sorry I don't have the actual terms memorized yet.
  9. Thanks! Sorry for cluttering up the bugs page
  10. I've watched a video tutorial on how to use these bombs, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm in A/G, Master Arm is ARMED, I have the Rockeye "RE" selected, Mode is CCIP, MFUZ is VT, and the HT set to 1500. However, no matter what I select in EFUZ it does not select. That section remains blank as though I'm not selecting anything. I think it needs to be set to INST for instantaneous fuze, but none of the settings are registering. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a known bug? Or is this something new? I've only tried this in the Mission called "Combat Mission - Hornet 1989: Close Air Support." I've tried with both the CBU-99's and also re-armed to try Mk-20 Rockeyes. Neither seem to work. Thanks
  11. Pfft, scrub pilot has his zoom key bound to his flight stick instead of his throttle. :)
  12. 1) Cockpit vibrations 2) When I'm hit by bullets or missile it is very underwhelming. Barely the feintest of thuds. Curious if we could get more beefy, catastrophic sounds with regard to missiles and bullets hitting the F-18
  13. Much appreciated
  14. I've had this set up for several years, I'm aware it is a good device for the price point. Yes I tried manually trimming it but it wasn't changing. I tried the refuel scenario with different load outs and it seems like it was mainly happening with a very heavy loadout with bombs and tanks etc. I don't know if it was game related or me related, but it would not manually trim out, and the FCS wasn't compensating. But only when I was very heavy. Perhaps there was an imbalance somehow. Or I dunno... AAR irritation caused that post. I thought I deleted it since I posted out of frustration but I guess it survived ;)
  15. Is the F-18 supposed to automatically trim to maintain stable flight at 1g? I'm trying to practice AAR but I realized part of my formation flying issue as well as my PIO when attempting refuel is that the jet wont maintain level flight. I've tried with 2 aim9s and a centerline tank, as well as with aim-9s, 3 tanks, bombs, and 120s, just to add weight etc, and what happens is that I can maintain airspeed but my nose picks up about 2 degrees and the right wing goes down and slowly increases my bank angle. FCS simply won't allow me to maintain level flight without constant input, which seems incorrect in a modern FCS plane. Or is this normal? I thought maybe my cheaper T16000 was having a dead zone issue, so I bumped the dead zone up to 50 on the x and y just to see, but I'm still seeing pitch and bank without input. And I'm getting the same pitch and bank drift whether I'm light or heavy.
  16. I think it was anti-skid that was giving me troubles with using NWS HI. ;)
  17. Noted regarding wings folded and locking nws hi. That covers that. But I see a big difference in nws hi handling now both on carrier and airfield AFTER landing. Im going at walking pace too.... If I spawn in on deck or ground, nws hi operates easily. After landing it hardly ever functions. If not a bug, what else am I doing wrong that would cause this? And to repeat again, I'm moving slowly Edit: I often forget to turn off anti skid before landing. Would anti skid affect nws hi?
  18. I'm practicing case 1 right now and having this problem. I'm not going very fast at all and NWS HI will cause me to go straight. Further, NWS HI is "sticking" in the on mode for some reason? Never had this happen on an airfield while practicing. Are those of you who are saying "go slow" and "never had this problem" trying to land on the carrier and do this right now? Because it seems like its a bug. But I could be doing something wrong. I am just now learning this jet. Edit: Went to an airfield and had no problems using NWS HI. Seems to me like there's a problem with the NWS on carriers.
  19. Is there a log file somewhere I can find for you, to see if this was game related or not? Edit: My video card driver wasn't updated current. Updating now. Could be related
  20. After the guns training mission was complete, I pressed esc and quit but the game locked up without moving. Couldnt close it at all. Couldnt do anything. Had to physically power down, and now I'm struggling to restart my computer as win 10 "attempts repairs." Canceled that by resetting again and my CPU did boot up now. That was a nasty nasty crash. Haven't seen one that hard in a long time. Steam, Rtx 2080, i7 4790s, 32gb corsair ddr3, ssd..........
  21. Sweet. Thanks! I'll take OP sparrows over doodoo sparrows 7 days a week.
  22. Yeah I know what you mean but I'm not sure why it does that. I personally like the default position after zoom. Trying using an axis for zoom that doesn't reset, like a slider or something
  23. He makes a good point. I think the difference in experience for me may be in using the TWCS throttle (I think that's the acronym), which is a glide/slider throttle with a lot of travel. Perhaps when I upgrade to the rhino I'll want the throttle behavior like it is now.
  24. Buy f14, eat tacos
