I'm being pragmatic, with or without sale, with or without free weekend, you are not doing any good or bad to the current situation, there is no correlation any where to be found. But given that people will be more prone to stay at home these days, you might have a win win situation, ED get some more sales they wouldn't get these days and we get a bit more fun, that cannot hurt anyone. You could buy at normal price of course, but a sale is for sure a good driver to pick a module you were considering at some point. I hope i have not hurt any sensibilities, not my intention for sure. I just read this morning about some game publishers starting this kind of initiative.

I'm not kidding actually... given that the south of europe is very close to total quarantine and all around the world the recommendation is to stay at home as much as possible, and that other game producers are already starting with this idea, I thought of bringing it up here. In my case if there is a sale I will get at least the 3 new warbirds (bf109, spitfier and dora)...

I'm expert enough to know that ALL missiles get their range reduced to something like 10%-30% from its maximum possible range when shot at low altitude, where the drag is hugeeeeeee. I will give you an example, that is very enlighting. NASAMS, which is a norwegian air defense system that uses the Aim120C missiles, advertise its range as 40Km maximum and against a high fliying non maneouvering target. So you get the same missile that goes from >100km to just 40km if launched from low altitude against a high flying target, this distance would be reduced if the target is fliying low. A missile at low altitude is almost like a bullet in water(ok im exagerating a bit). That why for long range shots lofting is used, so that even if your missile flies more distance, it will keep its energy at high altitude where there is very little drag. Its just WIP and probably not intented to be there. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Dcs numbers and ranges are very close to the real thing. In fact you can already achieve a 56mn kill... you just need to have a non maneouvering stupid target, which happens to be the range you see in wikipedia (something lile 50.000 ft altitude going mach 1.5 against a non moving target coming at you at 40.000ft and M0.9). At those altitude the missiles are amazing. Try that and you will see you get a 40 plus nm kill easily. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

That would make no sense, not just from a security or common sense standpoint but also from a logistic perspective, too many advances in microcircuits, digital signal procesors and other components in the last 40 years, such that using the old components could be pricier and harder than introducing new digital, programmable technology. So even if the missile is the very same regarding aerodynamics or engine, it will probably be much "smarter": loft profiles, better eccm techniques, better navigation logic.... All this is of course speculation on my side, but on the other hand we know all armies ard always improving their weapons, so thinking that the r27er is the same one it was built in the 80s/90s is just not an option in my mind. I would love there is less secrecy on russian weapons, i'm sure there are many "lots" (following american/european terminology) with lots of improvements in the r27er family that we are not even aware of. Even more being in active service as it is. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Sorry if my posts sounded emotional, was not my intention, i'm sure many people still struggles with the radar, but i'm convinced that the underlying problem is not properly undertanding radars in general, not just the hornet one. Because as some posters including myself the stupid aacq bug can be perfectly sorted out. Other than that you should not experience any serious drawback that should make you avoid the hornet, totally the opposite. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Read again, that is not my statement. As i say it never lets me down. I feel confident in the a2a role. In fact it happens that in MP i almost never use the radar for close encounters, the aim9x/jhmcs is just too good and dont require radar lock but that is a different topic, I still dont see where you have a problem when you use HACQ/LHAQ. So again, if you say you had to leave the hornet parked because of the radar and how buggy it is, let that me and the hundreds of fellow hornets pilots flying in every mp server send you a big smile.

So let me clarify because you are bringing several issues: 1-BVR radar modes works like a charm for me and never let me down, i can detect everything at incredible ranges, unless the enemy is in a perfect beam, other than that is amazing, even more now with TWS capability which works even better than in the viper (less time to build tracks) 2-Close combar modes like vertical, boresignt and gun work really well... if you have visual on the bandit. It is true that sometimes to pick up far away targets specially when you dont see what you want to lock, and mess around fliying with it on. A very easy workaround is to turn them on when they are close to you and you have tally, or even better use it with the JHMCS which works great. 3-Aacq has this annoying bug of picking targets further away than the closest bandit, even so, you can avoid this a lot when you reduce your azimuth scan to 20 degress and use MIDS simbols to face only the target you want.

You dont know how to use it, sorry to be harsh. I have hundreds of our in SP and MP and thd f18 radar is a beast, never let me down. Your inability to use is most probably due to a bad understanding of antena elevation management and how the radar cone works. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

To be fair, the developer, in this case ED has always acknowledged limitations in the engine/simulation that have produced some "missbehaviors", like drag curves that did not adapt well to different altitudes, guidance logic issues or even limited PN and lofting algortihms... They are trying to iterate on that. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Thanks! Your data shows data the difference is marginal, even non existance on some regimes. I guess the biggest improvements that could emerge from the new lofting logic are not well reflected here (these are no lofting shots right?) Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Hey nighthawk, it'd be cool a comparison with the latest 2.5.6, it seems Aim120c has improved range significantly. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

I will try that, though im the video (long range 25nm 16k shot) the missile loft by itself, no pitch induced. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

That is strange, I cannot get it to loft as in the video. Are you guys seeing the same? It could be an WIP feature in 2.5.6 that have been corrected in the latest patch? Or is it just me?

Please make Radar elevation usable with rotary an option
falcon_120 replied to falcon_120's topic in Wish List
The chunk of code for this is already done. The f16 was wrongly behaving like the hornet (radar elevation) during the first 2 weeks of EA. They quickly fixed it to let it bound to a rotary. You could say the lines of code are 90% there, just need to change the links to a different object. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk -

The only problem is the unused axis that would work perfectly in that fashion. Those 2 buttons would be very handy for me for sim related topics like ptt in discord and SRS, or centering my VR view to give some examples... Again, please look at it like this: is does not have any advantage/disadvantage its just an interface option. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk -
Even in that case i would feel dissapointed, since i love the "simulation" (mind the ") of a spanish hornet as I'm spanish, and knowing that a perfect replica of a spanish hornet won't come. I know that might be blasphemy to some, but in this case i think its a perfect balance between a good simulation and the room for some additional gameplay or simulated scenarios for other nations, which is nice considering that many people here are not american. The Phoenix should not be able to turn that well...

Lol, that was a good laugh. :) Unfortunately you get to see that same process so many times in life... yet it is so true... Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk -
Please, give people time. Its been barely 1 working day. They will solve it probably soon. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

You are stating too many assumptions that are just plain wrong, even at the current modelling of DCS. Missiles, specifically aim120C do hit over 10mn, they also do at 15 mn or even 20mn. They just need certain things to happen that is for sure. But they are obviously useful tactically even when they do not hit. Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Mmm I'm sure you have discussed this internally. It is a slippery slope and should be taken with care, just saying... Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk

Disabling VA and reparing made it for me for a time but suddenly it wont open again, when i start DCS it appears a login window and after login in the game tries to load but it crash, reverting back to 2.5.5 or repairing is not working either... dont know what i messed up. Trying a clean install now... it might take hours :( Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk
