What distance should I keep against opponents with shouldermounted manpads, iglas, rpgs in the dead of night at 01:00am and all the ka-50 lights are off? Or the other way round: have shouldermounted iglas, rpgs in the DCS-BS-game night-fight capabilities?
-
It does. Definitely. Install this logbook-version => http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=34007&d=1259932377 And read this thread for further infos: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45013&highlight=logbook It works. No need to go back to the russian version.

So ... - go for radio-background-audiofiles, when messages come up - go for realistic weather. Temperature of 33°C at your startdate 01.06.2009 10:30am is questionable. Do a search for realistic weatherdata of your startingarea. - cloudbase =500m has no effects on clouds with clouddensity < 9. - cloudthickness = 210 m has no effects on clouds with clouddensity < 9. - put some pictures in the mission. Not pictures how beautiful the Ka-50 looks at sunset but pictures which give additional information for the mission. - the briefing: if i send you in a city with the job "find person x" you would have certainly a lot of additional questions. And so do i when i read your briefing. Give if possible last known position, how does the target looks like, which vehicle, are there enemythreats, what type of enemies, give emergeny-landingplaces, etc. etc. etc etc... Make the briefing realistic and believeable. - if there is a cooperation with groundunits or other fighters implement a communication with the ka-50 pilots. Implement a communication with other friendly units. Something like "Flight364. Here is Ground948. We are passing waypoint 3 near city zzzz. Heading east. Estimated time to next waypoint: xx minutes. Over". etc.etc.etc... - if this should be realistic allow in the mission only first-person-view. Edit:typo

Questions regarding possible manual vs. sim inconsistencies
zdXu replied to Bestandskraft's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The situation is not hopeless (; Within 5 minutes it can be easily made a tool that shows in the MEditor only your flightplan and hide all other units, statics, etc. Then you can make changes to the flight-plan without cheating the mission. -
Here i have BlackShark v1.1. I used the manual start. But i bet no autostartprocedure could solve this problem. Could it be a copy-protection-problem? To me it looks like such a problem. I will put this mission into my MEditor, make some changes, compile this with my BS-version and let's see what comes of it!

Questions regarding possible manual vs. sim inconsistencies
zdXu replied to Bestandskraft's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
1.) When you start from a parking-slot. 2.) When you choose the next waypoint after the last waypoint. Only in these cases the VNAV needs the "activation" with the SUSP or ACTIV(VNAV-submode) or "WP" (flightplan-submode) or fly-over-waypoint-method or ... etc.. To clear this up. You get VNAV-indication, but only the default one, which comes from the flight-plan of the MEditor. And that is wrong in most cases when you have modified the flight-plan. IF you want a correct VNAV-indication-needle then don't touch any VNAV-data, don't move the waypoints, don't use alternate flight-plans. The only correct modification of a flight-plan is to do it in the MissionEditor itsself (; -
Permanent download discontinuation. Wasted 230 MB downloadtime.

Your ka-50 of the first slot has an right engine-failure at startup. This causes several errors. Maybe also the navigation-errors and the gnss-errors (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=53699). Look for activated failures in the mission. Personal i like the long flying to the target. Looks good for me.

Questions regarding possible manual vs. sim inconsistencies
zdXu replied to Bestandskraft's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Some facts first: (1) Figur in meters above sealevel. The figure is directly related to the waypoint-altitude of the MissionEditor, means figure (1) and waypoint-altitude are the same. The figure has also a directly relation to the display in (2). (2) The scale is in 10 meter steps. Maximum display is 50m above desired flight plan and 50m belove desired flight plan. The green needle in (2) indicates the desired flight-plan-altitude. If green needle below the middle = you are to high and vice versa. (3) Figure in meters above sealevel. The figure is directly related to the waypoint-altitude of the MissionEditor, means (3) and waypoint-altitude in MissionEditor are the same. The figure is also directly related to (1). (4) Desired flightplan altitude of point X (middle between WP"2" and WP"3") is here 912m ASL. Desired altitude of WP"2" here 1200m ASL. Desired altitude of WP"3" here 624m ASL. Desired altitude-calculation from one waypoint to another is always linear. (5),(6) (5)is almost a requirement for (6) Track (5MB) shows the use of the "Graphical representation of altitude deviation from flight plans" and some relationships to the ABRIS-flightplan and ABRIS-VNAV-submode. http://rapidshare.com/files/385151085/VNAV.trk (Deployment-01-mission) The graphical representation of altitude deviation works only correct if the flight-plan and related stuff is not changed during the mission. That means only the original flight-plan made in the mission-editor effects the graphical representation of altitude deviation correctly. You have to initate the altitude graphical deviation by pressing the ABRIS-"Suspend"-button or by pressing the ABRIS-"Activate"-button (in the VNAV-Submode) or by flying over the waypoint or ... etc. etc. . -

I mean ... - Waypoint altitude - Distance from/to WPT. (“-” to reach the altitude “S” km before the WPT, “+” to reach the altitude “S” km after the WPT - WPT callsign - WPT number - Vertical speed ... is largely self explanatory. And there is no secret about that. Vertical speed is automaticly calculated from "Distance from/to WPT", "Waypoint altitude" and data from ABRIS/MENU/PLAN/SPEED Sub-mode. So if I understand you correctly you mean under which conditions is the "Graphical representation of altitude deviation from flight plan" working correctly, right? -
After you have used the HMS the track produces errors. It will come with time more and more errors: false heading, false shootingdirection, false aircraft handling, false missionresults, etc. etc.. I think the HMS is mounted slightly offset because for reasons of view. The HMS hinder you if the HMS directly mounted in front of your left eye.

Your actual setting is summer, 1.juni 2009, kutaisi, 6:15 am: no weather.. Go for realistic weather conditions and daylight-conditions: Set the appropriate day you want and set some realistic weather. -------Day: Missioneditor / weather/time&day: #0 = 1.juli 2009 #1 = 2.juli 2009 etc. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=872354&postcount=39 You can check your actual choosen date in the ABRIS / Submenu Options. ------Weather: The weatherhistory for Kutaisi, 1.juni, 2009, 6:00 am is : +17 °c 1023 Hg ( hint for calculation: 750mm = 1000 Hg) 2 m/s windspeed wind variable (no main direction) windgust 0 m/s View: clear view No significant clouds (means no clouds or no clouds under 5000ft. Means in ME: clouddensity = 0 or 1 with cloudbase > 1700m) No rain

Not new but they are missing in the list above 7. Plantation fat 8. Plantation fat Part 2 9. At an Angle of 40 degrees (technical not a campaign but a campaign in the terms of storytelling) 10. BUG 11. Operation Polonaise

Thumps up for the Intro. Most credible story i have read so far. Thumps up for using real-life-pictures and real-life-links.

At an Angel of 40 degrees, mission 3. By =Serj= - Plot: Major Otkryvashkin and "i" are flying to a new farp/landing spot. - Modifications for more realism: 1.Full fuel to have a reserve for emergency-situations 2.Gave the player a flight-plan 3.Implemented pseudo-radio-communication with my own units (whats the actual position of unit x, whats the actual heading of flight y, etc). F10-view shows own units, enemyunits are not shown. Tool: http://rapidshare.com/files/382121884/Hide_assets.exe - Track: firsttime-playing, firstpersonview, english-version (by google-translator), 6 MB, Spoiler: http://rapidshare.com/files/383993257/At_an_angle_of_40_degrees_03.trk .................................................. .................................................. ........................... At an Angel of 40 degrees, mission 4. By =Serj= - Plot: Border patrol with a wingman. - Modifications for more realism: 1.Full fuel to have a reserve for emergency-situations 2.Gave the player a flight-plan 3.Implemented basic pseudo-radio-communication (whats the actual position of unit x, whats the actual heading of flight y, etc). Important for players with option "vulnerable = true". - Found something new i had not seen before in a mission. - Quality of radio-communication is well done. Negative - Starttime is always an emergency-start in 3 minutes, even when the helicopter have had a severe engine-failure before. - 3 of 5 missions have no flight-plans. - Fuelquantities not adequate. - Missionpreparation not adequate. If you are going to fly with a wingman, you are not in the lead and you have no flightplan then the mission should give you infos about the impending flight. For example planed wps, planed flightroute, planed flightaltitude and planed flightspeed for each wp, landingspots for emergency-situations, specific features along the route etc. etc. - Devotion to the army: applied to thick.

Q: will convoys stop is a bridge is blown? Not expected that. This gives you more tactical options. I hope this is true (;

Anyone Running a Profile with Invulnerability Set to False?

You have to specify: you mean flighttime-data from only the campaigns or every flighttime ? There are different kind of log-versions out for BS. The vanilla-logversion is the logbook logs only the campaign-flighttime. I use the extended log-version who logs everything but multiplayer. -
Campaign storyline evolution - linking 1 mission to another
zdXu replied to chromium's topic in User Created Missions General
My question was how big is that 6-hours-TACVIEW-yyyymmdd-hhmmss.txt.acm-file with more than 1000 units in there? I had a file with 2 hours mission-playtime with 120 units in there that was 120Mb. So i assumed your file must be much much bigger. I asked because my method was to analyze that 120Mb-Text-file with a program. And you can imagine that a 5GB (or something like that) large textfile can be a little "problemka" (; -

What about some tracks to get an impression whats going on? (; Not for spoiling the missions but for comparing the tactics later when someone has flown the mission too. It would be interesting. Do you play first person view? Do you play on "realistic"? -
Campaign storyline evolution - linking 1 mission to another
zdXu replied to chromium's topic in User Created Missions General
Complete agreement. First have a look at FC 2.0. If i am right the new ME has an option to transfer dead units into the next mission. Maybe this can help you a bit ... or not? (And if the FC 2.0 ME has that feature then the DCS-MEditor will have it too in the near future, right?) But a question in advance: The point-2-scenario means that we are dealing with a ca. 10gigabyte TACVIEW-yyyymmdd-hhmmss.txt.acmi file? -

- Rank: major or lieutenant, dont know that exactly. I am not at home. But i know i rised in rank once. - Some groundkills, 1 friendlyfire-kill (2. Deployment-mission) - Had played 1.-4. of the "Deployment"-campaign (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=836255#post836255) - Had played all 5 missions of the campaign "At an Angel of 40 degrees" (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=887488&postcount=9) - Had played 2 other missions: 1. Clear Tkvarchelli 2. ArtilleryHunt (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=846053&postcount=7) Would be interesting to play multiplayer-missions with guys who care about dying (without that try and error sh*t). Edit: Some words from your side to the Republic-campaign? How realistic is this, details of the briefings, etc. etc.?
