No active laser = no range measurement = Shkval terribly off IN RANGE (but not in heading). Logical. No workaround i know of. (The other day i have read about someone hold the target-lock-button more than 3 seconds (or something like that) and then the HUD-range is displayed (and the exact range on the ABRIS-map is shown) also when you switch the laser afterwards in range-finding-mode-off. But i dont know further details). This is a desired feature of the Ka50-software, which calculate the path of moving objects even when they are behind obstacles. If you want to get rid of a shkval-problem (and dont want to use it for another targeting/measurement) then shut off the shkval or switch it to shkval-standby-mode(?).

Ok, nice. Thxs for the effort. I will use this. Dowloading later.

Realy? In the ABRIS exists the "Info"-cursor under MAP/INFO-submode. - You have the whole map with terrain-colors, which shows you the terrain-peaks - you have the exact coordinates of the cursor - you have the exact altitude/hight of the cursor-position in meter-steps - but you dont have the grids By the way - i would prefer to show the altitudes in meters OR in feets. There is no need for showing the altitudes in meters AND in feets. Everyone knows the quick calculation from feet to meter or vice versa. Standardmeasurement of hights is feet. But maybe here its different because we are more or less in the russian area. - The biggest issues i have with the printable map is 1.) the resolution: 1 cm is 2 km or something like that is IMO for helicopter-combat-planing way to small. 2.) is the absence of all the city-houses. IMO for contour- or NOE-flying a bad thing. -
Good find. I would prefer ... - to make the upper and lower markers symmetric. Now the upper marker starts from the right sight, the lower marker starts from the left side. - to delete the "2cm" label because you should know the distance of ka50-abris-markers when you enter a ka-50 cockpit. - to make a version that comes close to the original: only lower markers, nothing else (i would prefer that) - to put all this into the mod-section

Impact of clouds and fog on AI, is there any?
zdXu replied to Speed's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Sounds like another fantasy-mission with no realism-connection. I hope you know that the instrument-meteorological-conditions(IMC)-rules for helicopters are not so far away from the IMC-rules for fixed wing-airplanes. For fixed-wing: airports with visibility under 800 meters are normaly closed (no take-off, no landings, except for emergency-situations). For fixed-wing: airports with visibility between 800m and 1600m: approach ONLY with ILS. No ILS in plane, no landing. http://www.ivao.be/files/Military_Metar_Codes_v1.5.pdf (see page 3 ff military color-code etc.) So fog=1 is IMO DCS-BS = visibility 1000m, ILS-approach, no ILS = no landing. fog=2 is IMO DCS-BS = visibility 500m, no take-off-clearence, no landings except in case of emergencies. And you are talking about "heavy fog" = 5 or more in a combat-situation. fog=5 in DCS-BS is IMO visibility = 60m! fog=10 in DCS-BS is IMO visibility = 2 m! Here is an article about IMC-conditions for helicopters. http://www.scribd.com/doc/6530450/Helicopter-Instrument-Procedures -
In the ABRIS / Map-submode is a ruler, called "Estimated Range and Bearing Line". This tool in combination with the "Marker" measures every distance (minimum 10 meter) on the ABRiS-map. There is no need for how is the dimension of the the ABRIS-screen.
-
Correct. Lat/Long-values belonge to the map of MEditor. X,Y-values belonge to the sim-map(F10,ABRIS). There are several functionfiles (in LUA) in the game. Dont know the exact one. Correct. My understanding is that you can create random x,y-values direct in the "mission"-file (content of tthe mission-folder *.miz). These effects the objects with the new x,y-value on the sim-map regardless wether the new x,y-values match with the long/lat-values or not. BUT if you load these changed mission (with your random x/y-values) into the MEditor then the engine looks ONLY for the long/lat-values and set the objects in the MissionEditor according the long/lat-values.
-
Only the tolerance of the ABRIS is effected if you change the setting in the ABRIS. To do it during the flight is IMO more realistic. The PVI-800 is holding his last hight and his last course if you switch to the "Enter-mod" of the PVI-800. The ABRIS gives you not the benefit of the automatic Route-mode but it gives you the deviation of your actual course in 100 meter-steps, the misleading in hight of yur actual waypoint-leg etc. etc. The Route-mode in the PVI-800 has also some disadvantages in precise stable level-flight. And in a combat-situation, where some meters more or less can decide about life and death, is the pvi-800 not the appropriate choice.

Normaly the winddirection makes the difference. If you set no windspeed in the mission then the choose of the landing-strip is random.

You have to adjust in your G25-setting-option (default: windows/system/printer and other hardware / gamecontroller/ G25) the option "independ pedals" or something like this. Yes

To hop in a track give you general no credits, no flighttime, no kills and all that statistic stuff (own death unsure). To continue a track definitly does not affect the campaign-mission-logic. Maybe i am wrong here. I dont know this exactly.
-
- save the missiontrack after interrupt your mission. - load the saved track - go fast forward (with timeacceleration) to the your last point. - press the "esc"-button and entering the helicoptor with the continue-button. I haved played so 6 - 7 hours long missions (with 3 interrupts). Had no issues with that. I thing after the 1.0.1 patch the track-creation is more stable but i can be wrong.
-
- thats one of the basic things i do first when i prepare a mission: gathering informations from the briefing etc.and put these things (POIs, marked areas of enemy, alternative flightrouts, etc) in the ABRIS. Use the option "prepare mission" in the missioneditor. You can manualy hide all units in the MEditor or do it with tools so you cant cheat on the mission when entering the MEditor. - INU-waypoints can not be changed before entering the mission.

zdXu replied to Downey Jr.'s topic in User Created Missions General
If you play missions with unrealistic settings (unvulnerability = true) then you get of course unrealistic results. So change your setting if you want more realism.
