Trigger zones around carriers moving?
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Mission Editor
Great idea! thank you! -
I just wish more limitations are implemented to even allow systems damage if attempting to trap above 33-34,000 lbs. why I care is because RL is more challenging. I love flying RL in DCS or by the book if you will. After watching Lexs vids, I now have both surface winds at 20 kts and steaming deck at 25 knots

Carrier Trap....Some of you will appreciate this
WildBillKelsoe replied to Jason S's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
that is why you set bingo. -
I can implement it by self restraint. Also by preventing controls synchronisation 5 miles to the carrier by a trigger zone, preventing hook drop down if GW is implemented as a condition in mission editor once/ownship weight more/less/prevent controls sync, trigger failure of hook above 33,000 lbs, or even prevent gear down using failures above said weight.

I'd like to set the seven points around case 1 pattern for the harrier. The seven points being; break, downwind, abeam, ninety, groove, abeam landing spot, and on landing spot being 7 and 1/2 on Tarawa. Problem is, I cant visualise the ship. Wasnt there a view for the boat static placeables? Or is it Stennis only feature? Also, I understand that a moving trigger zone bound to a unit is at the center of the unit or is it where the trigger is placed in relation to said unit? meaning, if I want to fly 100 feet off a right wing of a plane to be in that zone I need a trigger 100 feet which If I enter said zone placed to the right of ME icon 100 feet by ruler, I would be wingspan + 100 feet or is it 100 feet plus half wingspan for a centered by default trigger zone bound to that unit?

well according to Lex Talionis, the hook will almost certainly mess up things onboard if youre higher than 33,000 lbs. Can we get that restriction, ED?

Frustrated with TDC action/no action toggle and TDC Action keys
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in AV-8B N/A
I can say that got me even more confused . I meant how does it behave in real life. Is the TDC a pushbutton on a trim hat? If so, the action part is when you thumb it, and no action part is when you dont and just use the trim hat around it? -
1- It helps to remember the table for detection of fighter sized crafts versus bomber sized crafts. 2- If you can close distance to detect said targets by putting marks on map after two bogey dope calls say 2 minute apart, you can plot an intercept on map especially if you have F-10 ownship only checked in gameplay. 3- AWACS reports aspect of bandits to you, flanking means trying to get to your sides, cold means going away, hot means closing in. 4- Altitude reported is native to AWACS coalition. US E-2/3 report in feet, while Il-76 reports in kilometers AGL. 5- try to be lower than reported bandit altitude to mask off ground clutter and allow radar elevation changes to above horizon to acquire a target higher than you. that is to say make it easier to pick bandit up on radar if in detection range per point 1. 6- Yes you land against facing the direction you took off from. meaning, if you took off to the east, you also land from the west. Single direction. or like aircraft carriers, stern to bow.

Why is it So hard to land the MI 8
WildBillKelsoe replied to tusler's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
sorry for taking long to answer. the chart is not accurate. I used it to convey that as you reduce your collective, you taper the reduction, not slice it. Meaning: If in hover your % of collective is 100%, you drop down to 90% then immediately go back to 95%. This should "arrest" your descent or sink rate. But I am sure you already knew this. Like in hornet. -
Are you sure you are in afterburners? I mean they removed continuous throttle and added both button option for ab detent and checkbox in special for continuous throttle without button for ab. make sure your parking brake is off too.

I wasnt flipping, I use F2 too.

Lex I think mentioned you'd keep all radio traffic minimum. You'd be passing the break then if and only if cleared to enter the pattern you'd be told so. I think the rest is visual till the groove, where you are then controlled by white shirts and then if you miss, you are then drawn back to the port side stack pattern. Of course I could be mistaken. I highly recommend you watch his channel. Lex Leonis. He also is on discord for discussions you could ask him there.

No, you need a marshaller. That is not to say I am not OK with current status of things, but to say it would be much better visually and as a feeling.

the pullup after cat shot is a bit exaggerated?
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
you mean that nose up trim at these values wears off the automated pull up making its effect less noticeable? Because I always press V when I am ready to launch. Yes I recently came aware of the table for trims at different gross weights. -

guys, please, for gods sake... it was a question of whether it works in dcs. In real life, I promise each and everyone of you, the F-5E would be really messed up if attempted a boat trap. I swear I know this. Fine, I wont do it. You all happy now? :/

Exactly how the toggle is supposed to be in real life? If the button is depressed its input equals action? when not depressed its input equals no action? how is this different from TDC down (action)? and even more importantly, what is the use of no action if any? Also I am a bit frustrated with the TDC HUD behaviour. See, I mapped the axis settings like A-10Cs TDC stock 30/100/30/0 but as soon as I let go after steering it down towards the nose from aircraft datum, it snaps back to the datum  And yes you guessed it right, I slew back and it stays, then as soon as I touch the warty mole of a tdc it snaps back to the datum.

post that mission

Example of said statements: 4DC-Ck ..... 4DC-OK ..... PROCEED TO CAT I/II/III/IV then as throttle is moved ||||||||| each appearing a second like | | then ->> ||| <<- || then >< LBD then Wt [XXXXXXXX] then you get the radio tower and check JBDs to know youre hooked up.
-
I just wish there was a way to know youre on the slit and not diagonal and exactly on the catapult shoe. When launched, the zig zagging makes it look bad. Will there be static personnel or mannequins placeable at spots on deck and toggleable for positioning and marshalling? Even static mini zones with message to group such as advance, stop, right rudder, or it could be arrows, like -> low gain slow right, low gain medium right ->>, hard right with high gain ->>>, forward |, stop >< and for distancing (10 ft), (5 ft), (2 ft). For launchbar down LBD launch bar up LBU, Wt check [45232LBS] off rearming window, four down check (4DC-CK), complete (4DC-OK). Marshalling meshes or grooves with nodes are also welcome.

Not getting full off throttle
WildBillKelsoe replied to Swany's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I hope this is not for carrier landings that you chop throttles. -
nose wheel misaligned with carrier shuttle assembly
WildBillKelsoe replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Wish List
Its like having the catapult shoe touching the launchbar sideways not grooved.
