  1. If you want to fix the launch bar up signal, go to: \CoreMods\tech\USS_Nimitz\scripts and open the GroundCrew.lua. There, in line 28, change " ['F-14A'] = " to " ['F-14A-135-GR'] = " You can also edit line 30 to " wing_unfold_condition = {arg = 404, value = 0.1, condition = '<'}," ,this should make the ground crew recognize your wing fold state properly
  2. Thanks for keeping the server up! I personally liked S&D not only for carrier ops, but my impression from casual SRS chatter was that folks didnt like it all too much, but again, thats very subjective. The friday missions sounds great, I'll try to be there. Btw if you need any info on RL carriers ops and battlegroup formations send me a DM, we've got plenty of knowledge on that in our squadron.
  3. Any chance to bring back US carriers ? I understand that search and destroy was probably not the most popular mission, but maybe include carrier based Tomcats in other missions (e.g. Battle for Sukhumi)?
  4. If you want realistic sounds in the cockpit, increase the volume of the ECS sound files to the point where its the only thing you hear because thats what it reportedly was like.
  5. Thats a result of ordnance colliding midair due to insufficient ripple interval. Increase the ripple timer and you will be good.
  6. Yeah I had the same thing happen to me too, but that was prior to the wing desync issue being fixed. Basically, when my RIO joined back the wings where fully forward for him while I was doing close to M1 and the wings ripped off. Now that should be fixed but it can be that they sweep forward for a second when a RIO joins for syncing reasons. Just try to be below M0.7 (thats roughly where the wings start moving back in auto) when a RIO joins.
  7. How fast where you going when the RIO got back in? Might be the wings sweeping forward for a split second, just long enough to get ripped off at high speeds.
  8. use shift+u to launch, the radio menu command doesnt work with the tomcat. Also never unkneel/raise the launchbar in the Tomcat. Thats a bug that hasnt been fixed yet (although just a small edit to the ground crew.lua is needed to fix that)
  9. The probe light brightness needs to increase (again). I understand that it shouldn't illuminate the whole tanker but right now it barely illuminates the basket when its a meter in front of you. The hornet is much better in that regard.
  10. You certainly can IRL, cat 3 just needs to hook up first.
  11. Its just another steerpoint you can programm. For some reason, its labelled MAN on the destination steerpoint rotary. That is not to be confused with the MAN steering mode for the HSI (not sure what that does)
  12. The Mi-8 we have in DCS never had any kind of IR missile warning system. The jammer visible on the 3d model is only effective against early IR missiles and ED stated they do not have any reliable data on its effectiveness, hence it wont be modelled.
  13. The power limiter is not checked during normal startup, only the FT overspeed sensors. There is test button for the power limiter on the rear left overhead panel, I dont know if it works though
  14. The altitude channels absolutely works on the ground. There is a WoW switch but its only to activate the flight data recorder. Btw I dont know why you are turning it. You need to use the test switch below to test the altitude channel. As for engine startup, you check for: -at least 1bar oil pressure at 45% -starter disconnect at 65% -max TIT 780° (740° at 0° OAT) -max sartup time 60s -2bar oil pressure at idle
  15. Are you sure it doesnt turn on? The light for the altitude channel is very dim, barely visible.
  16. In the F-14A, the autopilot works even with all SAS switches set to off. This should not happen and works correctly in the B.

    ADI cage

And then put the power back on and watch it wobble around
  18. Yes but the damage from a lack of cooling is not modelled.

    ADI cage

It doesnt cage itself, you can see it wobble around a lot if you put power back on after shuting down. ADI cage works in the RIO pit though
  20. Ever since the Nomex gloves came out (first public 2.7 IIRC), the ingame hands dont match your real hands' position. It's like you have put them on only half way, i.e. the ingame hands extend further forward than your real hands. Also, the night texture for the gloves is still bugged.
  21. Aircraft weight doesnt influence hook skipping. AoA and flightpath angle do so make sure the ball is centered and the AoA is at 15 units (yellow circle). IRL maximum landing weight for the carrier is 54000lbs. That doesnt matter in DCS although a light plane is easier to handle in the pattern than a heavy one.
  22. IRL the flap handle is actually a switch, its either full down or full up (plus emergency up which is not modelled)
  23. You should not be higher at all, again, the difference is minimal. If you fly a centered ball with correct AoA all the way down (fly the ball until touchdown not just until you are over the ramp) you will catch either the two or three wire. Thats not as easy as it sounds, especially with the new burble effect. If you barely escape a ramp strike the ball will be very low, no matter hornet or tomcat. Keep in mind that the burble pulls you down hard in the last few seconds, so use power/dlc to correct that. I needed quite some time to adjust to that, getting sucked below the glidepath then coming back up from below. This would always result in either a one wire or a bolter, since my glidepath became too shallow in the last few second, messing up the whole landing geometry (not the FLOLS fault). Its therefore critical to keep the ball centered all the time and not let it go up and down (i.e. cross the glidepath)
  24. If you are either boltering or catching the one wire the ball is not the problem. The FLOLS is indeed slightly off (bit too low for the Tomcat) but the effect is sometimes catching the two wire instead of the three wire with a centered ball. This whole "FLOLS is wrong" thing is getting blown out of proportion and I get the feeling that people who feel that way need more stick and less forum time.
  25. Could you explain what the FULL AUX FLAP position is supposed to be? There is no extra position to drive the aux flaps further down. They come down automatically with the flap handle and only have two positions (up or down). Anyway, flaps down (i.e. main flaps plus aux flaps) takeoffs are legit and recommended with high payload and/or short runways.
