Starting out (Joystick recommendation)

Never owned one, had a look at it in the shop though. Whit all the hype about it, was disappointed at first sight. Nothing like i imagined. Feel wasn't any better either. Recently some squaddies reported (minor?) problems whit there's. Opened it up and found silicon vally, all plastic inside not half as decently made as the outside. Which is disappointing to say the least for the price tag. That's my opinion at least, as such i'd say the X52 can do the same job, just as good for less then half the money. Yes, its cool its an exact replica of.... But that's useless when your flying a KA-50 for whatever. Hence i rather fly whit a "fictional" stick altogether. -
X-52 Pro and TeamSpeak Conflict
159th_Falcon replied to xaoslaad's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
And that's the problem, cause then you still need to map a keyboard key for PTT instead of a joystick key. And all this just because TS3 had to drop direct input support for whatever reason. Hoping it will come back soon cause this sucks. ***EDIT*** Ok, may have figured it out. Apparently they felt the need to support Android and iOS as well................ Meaning they had to drop direct input support? -

For pedals, these are the only way to go; http://www.mfg.simundza.com/mfgcrosswind.php Don't have em yet, but hope to win them soon. Ill refrain from commenting on the HOTAS part since ill only end up criticizing the warthog and all that's wrong with it. -
Wonder if that would hold up in court over in the U.S. I'm not guilty of murder cause i wacked that dude cause he could have wacked me at some point in the future........ BTW, prolly a good thing that forum rules keep us from discussing politics. Though, i think this classify's more as ethics. Continue plz.:D

Problem is, the US needs to have offensive based systems. Because there idea of Homeland Defense is go and invade other country's before they attack you. On an other note, this thread is pretty funny to be honest. Seen F all of the ship though.

1, Simple answer. Because you don't have a nose wheel lock. Complicated answer ill leave to someone else. 2, To center the helicopter lateral along a given line. Taxiway in this example, line up the centerline whit your inboard knee. Or rather where it would be more or less. As for flying straight, ignore the sideslip indicator in a hover and slow forward flight. Can't really give you a good reference line though. 3, Again, simple answer, Because its an heavy helicopter. Complicated answer, the Tail Rotor is opposing the most amount of torque in hover. It is also located quite a bit above the axis of rotation. Causing not only a Yaw effect but also a roll effect. This roll effect of the tail rotor needs to be compensated for. Also, the Tail Rotor is pushing the whole helicopter to the left, like a propeller pulls a plane forward. This also has to be compensated for by inputting right cyclic. Its this same roll effect that causes 99% of all helicopters to always touch down whit either the Left or Right side first. The EC-155 for example has this effect much less because the tail rotor is located inside the tail boom. ***EDIT*** Just think of something, isn't the inboard side of each instrument panel perfectly straight? If so fly such that the vertical line of the instrument panel on your side is parallel to the taxi way center line. Didn't try this myself, so could be wrong. (in fact, haven't flown this sim for a couple weeks)

If at all possible, i would wait till EDGE is released. Cause something that runs DCS well now may for whatever reason be buggy in EDGE. EDGE is simply: Eagle Dynamics Graphics Engine A complete scratch build, nothing to compare whit the old one. Will have a lot of new (DirectX) features, and Wags even hinted at collidable trees, PROVIDED the performance hit is acceptable for the average user system. Also, AMD has just released a range of "new" graphics cards. And it shouldn't be long before Nvidea introduces a good couple ones as well. Though, besides the GFX card, here is what will make sense to buy; mobo: Asus Z87-A, has everything your need AND your likely gonna use. Feel free to waste money on higher priced boards though. CPU: Intel core I7 4770, will do the job just fine. If you don't mind overclocking, go for the K version which does this very easy using the multiplier. RAM: Kingston HyperX series, at least 16GB and 1600 Mhz, faster memory is not much use these days, MORE memory eventually always is. HDD: assuming its gaming only, Samsung 128GB Pro SSD for the OS only and an Samsung 256GB Evo (or pro) SSD for the games. Do some research on the Samsung 840 SSD's. If you need mass storage, the Western Digital Caviar Green 3 TB or Seagate Desktop HDD.15 4 TB are good storage disks whit a good price point and still very decent performance. If you need/want one of the fastest HDD's ass well, research the following; Hitachi 7K4000 4TB, If you only want 2 or 3 GB then the Seagate 7200.14 is your best bet. PSU: A good one is a must, but no point in overdoing it. Keeping efficiency in mind i would recommend a Corsair HX750 psu, not only because it promises a very good delivery and efficient delivery of its power rating, but it has also been tested as such. Something only few PSU's can say. And all that for a good competitive price. NOTE: If your gonna run SLI or Crossfire (2 gfx cards) you may need an PSU whit an higher power rating. For the OS, go for Windows 8.1 make sure to get the 64bit version to, though i doubt anyone would dare sell you otherwise. As said, no recommendation on the GFX, much going on in that department and whit EDGE around the corner i would try to hold out. ~S~ Personally running whit an AMD 6950 2 GB card getting a solid 30 fps in most cases. May not be what you looking for. But good enough to hold out till EDGE. So if you have an old GFX card lying around, trow it in your system first and see how that goes.

PC upgrade - Advice needed please
159th_Falcon replied to AkheirAX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
BF4 should run well, given it supports mantle, as does your GPU. DCS should also run quite well on that system. No one knows quite yet what EDGE will make of things though. Though, its supposed to support crossfire, so can always stick a 2nd 7950 in there if needed. -
Noticed this myself as well when i tried it last night. Maybe the issue is different people trying to command the same vehicle? So many possibilities, so little time......

Don't have SLmod running on our squad server no. And i would need it in the relevant time frame. Hoping someone knows where to find the logs or how to enable it again.
-
Already asked this question in the Server Crash thread, but no point in derailing it any further. So here we go. We used to be able to open a log file, and it contained all information about; players, airframe they fly, weapons they fire, and what they hit. This is VERY useful to catch cheaters and verify if someone really is cheating when accused of doing so. Problem is, i can't for the life of me find any log file anymore that contains this information. Is it still out there somewhere but in a different location? And if ED disabled it, PLEASE bring it back soonest. Its essential to keeping the community servers open and fun for the general public. (general public being anyone not affiliated whit an online squad.)

Lol, awesome. Thank's for sharing, and yes, we do take a fair few things for granted.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1906350&postcount=1 Nice work ED, and great crash Wags! SU-33 up next?:D
-
No problem, easy enough to restart it. Let me know if your successful, so i can provide the relevant crash logs. Also, to get an mortar team into the mission, hop into huey or hip, pick up a mortar team (F10 radio option) and drop it somewhere so you can assign a target.

GFX card price drops

Ill keep it in mind. Will first ask around in our squad though. -
As you said, track file might be problematic due to server crashing. But it kind of makes sense when you think about it. (when this occurs its usually Async.dll which i assume has something to do whit synchronisation) A lot of units moving at once, huge increase in load and the code simply cant keep up. Throw in some high latency players and the chaos is complete. (just my ignorant uneducated view on things) Where should i be able to find track files of the server again? Saved Games folder?
-
Thank's for the info, hopefully someone knows a way of enabling the logging of that data again. Crucial in looking up if anyone is violating any rules. Also, its the only way to prove someone is abusing CA by shooting down friendly planes.

Its a well known issue that mirrors are performance hogs. I believe the "ress of cockpit displays" also affects them so setting that to a lower value might help if you insist on keeping them on. I just put em off though, prefer the extra FPS over the eye candy in this case. Would be nice if they could replace the black of the mirrors whit something else though. Like the color of the support its on or something to make it stand out a bit less when its off.

performance with dynamic weather overcast and rain
159th_Falcon replied to 159th_Falcon's topic in Game Performance
Guess, you didn't read my post. Point is not the bad performance, point is that my system is NOT being bogged down in any way, shape or form. There's plenty resources left, just not being used. (and no, i don't mean the remaining 2 idle cores, i mean just the one running at 30% load)
