Just was on the GR server, with quite some wind approaching the K135MPRS one experiences crazy wake turbulence, with three bags surface and still plenty of AA, one is thrown around quite a bit from 3 miles out. Only at connect distance it mellows out, and connected and tucked underneath the wing it's OK, and better stay there.
-
That was implied, just the messenger (they'll have a extra chopper throttle up? In WWII, planes that were a danger, the pilot bails out next to the ship, also during Vietnam I think I remember)
-
It's considered ruining your sense of depth I think it was explained, thus too dangerous. Then again between depth and (perhaps) certain death, then the question is, now what.

In these severe conditions you do not 'maintain glideslope' as by instrument read outs. You rather maintain 'a virtual descent as per accumulated practice that calculates and applies the considerations of the 3D pendulum movement of the deck, by eye sight, so to land exactly within the envelope of trapping when one has reached the deck'. All this was shown in that certain (decades old, on YT) carrier operations documentary with FA18's landing, and the last one in, that certain wing commander now famous for that recently widely admitted and published UFO incident with the Nimitz.

I doubt if zero (0) viz and extreme turbulence can be considered 'landing conditions'. All landing operations - in peace time - would simply be stopped/abandoned, for every landing be considered 'a danger to the ship as a whole' (and one is moved to the 'necessary collateral' category). Then again, in our DCS sim, with the caveat that 'pilots are not allowed to operate their night vision goggles in the final stage of the landing', so I think to have read, I would suggest that in an (ultimate) simulated emergency/a Midway situation or in a DCS simulation, you can land in these conditions with you night vision goggles switched on.

Never mind the bank angle of the base leg. You trim your bank angle from 10-90% to whatever you need, to end up smack in the middle of the threshold. Which is far more important than any NATOPS number. You train a lot in particular to hit the wanted heights, distances and the right speed, which should end you up smack in the middle of a. the deck, b. the runway, the bank angle comes in last (and by itself).

I need to hear my MP flight so my main Volume is 10% (!) and my World (engine roar) = 4% (!) and even my In-Cockpit (RWR beeps) = 55% nice and muted, hear my radio's load and clear

Just tilted, looks a bit weird when one notices. Moving to the outside, one starts to speed up a knot or so - suction? So I just rather stay somewhat banked in the usual place. The effect might be a tad exaggerated, I've never seen RL pics of jets doing AAR steady but banked, RL planes seem level but that would be - very - hard to see, and what would I know.
-
This wake seems also to be active now with AAR, F18 behind the K135MPRS wing tip, has me tilted.

DCS PD = 0,5 ?? This can't be right?
-
my just installed server starts up with (properties) "xx:\DCS OpenBeta Server\bin\DCS_updater.exe" > "DCS_updater.exe"! not "xx:\DCS OpenBeta Server\bin\DCS.exe" the latter which makes my WEB GUI cannot find the DCS server or the saved setup profile for the server !

Is there any way to free up RAM on 2.5.5?
majapahit replied to key_stroked's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I had load problems in MP I'd say you have not set up you swap file properly when I look at your pics. For 32000 it has to say "custom size" Initial size : 32000 Maximum size : 32000 then push 'set' prob reboot and check your drive if an actual swap file is there. -
sure, it still is completely unnecessary

FA-18C radar beam should pitch up and down with the plane? what seems wrong? What seems wrong? FA-18C be level (@15k Alt) have a 'bogey' (tanker) in middle of radar screen (at f.i. 45 mls @15k Alt) Radar Elevation Control set properly (f.i. 13-25k Alt) (tanker) blip shows in middle of radar screen & can be inquired/targeted un-select target descent, level out (to f.i. 10K Alt) Radar Elevation Control slew cursor still shows same numbers (13-25k Alt) (tanker) blip shows in middle of radar screen & can be inquired/targeted Pitch up f.i. 30° Radar Elevation Control slew cursor still shows same numbers (13-25k Alt) (tanker) blip shows in middle of radar screen & can be inquired/targeted Pitch down f.i. 30° Radar Elevation Control slew cursor still shows same numbers (13-25k Alt) (tanker) blip shows in middle of radar screen & can be inquired/targeted This seems wrong / a feature / wizardry / I missed a mentioning about this? I had a conversation with another DCS member about the radar possibly gimballed and have a gyro attached. That still does not make sense. Because of the ‘radar cake slice’ explanation that rules the Radar Elevation Control & if the radar is not gimballed with a gyro (which seems likely), then, for instance, when at level flight with an unseen bogey above radar beam elevation, the bogey should show up when pitching up and have the radar beam pointed at it. Or what feature am I missing here?

DCS World OpenBeta Server (basic nonrender) loads in "VR" (shows presence in a VR windows) when Oculus Home is running Which is completely unnecessary
-
"emergency jettison" keeps the wingtip and body AA loadout in case of a Midway surprise (I think to remember), btw
-
"'emergency jettison" and its massive yellow button comes to mind

When light keep trim at 12?

I'd say, FA-18C Pdf is updated with the general updates, I think I noticed, and never mentioned. Then again Hoggit is good study material, also an incomplete WIP though.

1080 lots of tinkering, smooth 45 fps multiplayer with all shadows Off (still looks great) Tested recently with shadows high in a massive MP, 16 FPS but still smooth. Stuttering you can prevent by finding the right (illogical) setting.
-
Replug the plug underneath the mask? (Find YT to remove the mask)
-
Oculus updated, so, tried DCS, switched shadows back on after muliplayer missions Off, smooth @ steady 45 fps I was researching VR goggles update "S" / Reverb, now this bought me some time. Somehow AAR is a lot smoother too? YMMV

How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
majapahit replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's really clever, thx. -
Same here, always mucking about exiting (change weapons, but does not actually make sense does it) to be able to focus back to center SA I realize it might be a bug indeed, or else stupid programming (by MD).
