  1. And it might be your joystick, put a deadzone(s) 5 on pith and roll, and when this disappears tune it back down, I have deadzones 3 on pitch and roll, because of hornet AP.
  2. Tsss, found it. That's a surprise. Anyway, still, 1. " .. 2.9.2.1 Autopilot. The basic autopilot (heading hold) is engaged by selecting the A/P pushbutton (atwhich time pilot relief options appear on the UFC) then selecting the ON/OFF pushbutton. .. " 2. "WARNING. Decolonizing any autopilot mode does not disengage the basic autopilotcontrol stick steering (CSS) function." The linguistics of this is somewhat bipolar and you're right and I am too, "The basic autopilot (heading hold)" = "the basic autopilotcontrol stick steering (CSS)" This is one fine example of military speak where one can poke a square stick into a round hole, because the manual says so, and if you have objections to that that's because you're an insubordinate little dick and you will have to report.
  3. errr, that's the Control Stick Steering (CSS), why invent names that suppose a relationship with 'heading' which is not the case. Where in NATOPS would it say 'there is a baseline autopilot mode which is referred to as "heading hold'' by NATOPS.
  4. "heading hold"? there is Attitude Hold (ATTH): attitude <45° bank <70°, or Heading Select (HSEL): which you dial in on the HSI Control Stick Steering (CSS)
  5. I do BALT circling all the time. Need to be shallow or you need to correct the drop until it holds. There's a gradient where BALT will hold or not, you can add stick (and throttle) whilst in BALT to correct drop, which has limits also YMMV. When BALT does not hold this means you need to switch to hand flying, that's all.
  6. How do the efficacies and efficiency of the radars compare, since you're a beta tester, for jet dogfighting in real life theatres, but for the dick pissing contests at Nellis simulating World War I triple decker airplanes made with cloth, will not occur any longer since about half way Vietnam, or was that Korea, and I'd like to be able to have my DCS F18C radar lock a merging bandit because my amraams failed me again, with sidewinders, for that is how close we will ever get to any enemy jet if at all, realistically, isn't it.
  7. I land half flaps all the time and I survive that but cannot get my bloody bandit locked (MP) in time and that is somewhat urgent? So fix the bloody radar.
  8. I see what jojyrocks sees, rollout full flaps, board is up, wing braking. In F18 DCS hard - smoothly if at all - to do, nose in the air wing brake with Hornet-C is just hard (almost impossible) too do, F18 DCS just wants to put nosewheel on ground, board up or not, you cannot stop that but for crazy janking, unlike what real life jets do (most? all? in particular military jets) and prob (no doubt?) the RL Hornet-C can do also (because this YT shows that), and this is - somewhat - of a pity because it looks cool :), and is likely why these demonstrators do it.
  9. you might be in a broken .miz this happens or edit the mission 'parking hot'
  10. Every boat trapping is high risk, for the boat in particular. I doubt if the ships boss agrees that 'pilots do not need ICLS when landing', or cares about that opinion unless the ICLS is out for maintenance.
  11. I had Ice form warning going to 40k or about (above conning) and probably mission or server time set to not summer. More than ones but rare.
  12. & you need to switch battery On for intercom.
  13. What I do not get is people not having their ICLS on (maybe sharper view not flying VR coming to think of it). Good post.
  14. Use JSGME (or the other one), once setup its just a button.
  15. You need to know the arrival airport details and its surroundings by heart and chart (and your kneeboard reminder). With this you can make - the proper - estimates how to go about it to end up on your approach initial. That's also why in the ATC there is a request for the bearing of your destination, which should be enough.
  16. F-14 is - a lot - more WIP than F-18 that is the lesser WIP, I'd say
  17. A test, mission abort, RTB boat, all station loaded, AG, AA, TGP and center tank, 20kts winds, 35kts OD, CASE I, 'on speed' groove 154kts, #3, by the book (sort of, can't help myself doing fast breaks). This actually makes more sense, feels great, smooth as butter, no tendency to sink like a brick dunking, still harder than F-14, but who knows, this feels better, is this more realistic?
  18. Trapping is easier it seems, mission aborted, RTB, 4xMAV/center tank loadout, jettison all with TGP kept, easy trap with higher speed than before (~142 or something), next mission abort, RTB boat minus 1xAGM65, with fuel in center tank, A-A, TGP and 3xMAV on wings, easy trap higher speed than before no 'drop like a brick' below 'on speed' instances. This is great?
  19. Just before, I had bought a USB 2.0 hub for printer etc on a 5 meter active extension, and I noticed this 'old' type (Amazon*****) powered 2.0 Hub responded way better than previous powered 2.0 Hubs. Another attempt, a - cheapish - eBay USB 3.1 PCI-e card also ended in the bin for lack of result. (Powered) Hubs and MB ports are not created equal (actually the standard seems a big mess).
  20. Use another USB port/hub. I had USB errors with a recent Win10 update and after lost hours of tinkering solved when I unplugged all USB hubs and devices. Which made me think/suspect my average (Asrock Ext4) onboard motherboard USB hub lacks - peak - amp power, so I ordered a 60W powered USB 3 hub just for HP Reverb, who knows.
  21. When for training I place 1 tank on the road with an endpoint, and multiply the unit x15 everything is fine? I do have to check the units line up nicely on a stretch of road, if not then s** happens.
