  1. Is that keyboard out yet?
  2. The third party releases you mentioned (as well as FC3) may not have the same level of detail and realism as the ones ED has released under the DCS brand up till now ... Just saying. Originally they cost more like 60$ ... That said, why should unrealistic, but fun, games cost less? The developer studios creating such games are often much larger than ED and thus have higher development costs which they need to cover. They're also more profit oriented than ED ... If profit were the primary goal of ED then DCS wouldn't exist. Indeed, the prices are what they should be. Multiple releases are ahead and the bill will start adding up ... Not everyone has the same budget anyway.
  3. User created missions are stored here: C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Missions\ It's best to post this question in the Controller Profiles and Problems section. Why? DCS World itself only writes data to your own Windows profile, where you have full access without having to elevate privileges to administrator level. Actually this doesn't really matter. Both folders are just ... folders. They have the same access control list as well.
  4. I don't think so. ED will still release flyables (driveables? :D), regardless of any third party efforts. That said, at this point I don't have much faith that (all) third party developers can (or intend to) release addons with the detail and realism which you described. I hope they prove me wrong.
  5. Nominated third parties = the rest of the world? :D
  6. Since we're talking typo's ... when dragging (edit mode) waypoint X for a ground vehicle, which is set to "on road", over waypoint X-1 or X+1, the error "optimal path not find" is shown. It should read "optimal path not found". Edit: this text is set in .\MissionEditor\modules\me_mission.lua
  7. Would make sense if both sides use the same platforms (e.g. Russia and Georgia). In any case, the other side loses inventory.
  8. DCS A-10C is a standalone product, just as the other flyables.
  9. Three DCS modules have been released up till now (including P-51D, which is still in beta). The first one (DCS:BS) was released in 2008 ... At the current rate ED is releasing modules, 40$ per module isn't a problem :D Unless multiple professional third party developers start creating modules, I don't think it will increase dramatically. Third party developers undoubtedly have to pay ED a commission on each sale (or something similar) since they're using ED's platform to generate profit. This makes it less likely that they'd sell it for a price lower than the one ED is charging at this point. Moreover ED needs to approve the third party projects as well. You'll be spending much more on hardware anyway (PC, HOTAS, TrackIR ...).
  10. Russia's entry for EuroVision song contest 2012 (ranked second in final) BgUstrmJzyc
  11. Does the name of the .exe file include (1) ? If so, remove it from the name. You downloaded using FTP, not torrent?
  12. I prefer Rockwelder's tree textures/models, they look more natural, and there's more variation. The trees in the Nevada screenshot have a single dominant green shade, even the tree trunk is green ... They do seem to have shadows though.
  13. For what it's worth ... ze2nEipDLR0
  14. During DCS World installation, deselect "Install Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package".
  15. Interesting idea.
  16. At least we're another day closer to the Nevada terrain release. (+ Myanmar :D)
  17. As far as I know, you can auto generate them or manually create them (= allows for manual optimization). The different mip map textures can show something completely different if you want. In the case of DCS, they appear to be manually created since there is too much difference.
  18. That's the mip mapping. Sadly, it's (too) obvious ;) LOD's are ideally designed so that the difference between them is not too noticeably (at least when using high graphics settings). The Caucasus terrain mip map changes are particularly noticeable since they were done manually, there is too much difference in the content. They aren't auto-generated.
  19. Why not? Check Outtera. The mip maps could use tweaking. In the current Caucasus map the difference between the mip maps is sometimes too noticeable. (see attached screenshots) Moreover the distance for the different mip map stages could use adjusting. This could affect fillrate noticeable though.
  20. And that is the exact reason why I referred to it, not for its aircraft simulation ... ;)
  21. The terrain mesh in DCS appears to be static (and rather undetailed). The detail is the same up close as it is 20 miles ahead ... Outtera has a dynamic terrain mesh which show much detail (geometry) up close and little in the distance.
  22. You mean the ground texture in the last screenshot? It appears to be normal mapped.
  23. Screenshot of the corrupt file warning dialog?
  24. If you have some kind of profiling software for your joystick/HOTAS, it's best to use it, rather than binding the buttons in DCS. This way you can avoid having to redo (most of) the bindings.
  25. Let's hope the clickable mirror feature is backported to the Hog, along with the direct switch/dial selection feature of DCS-P51D ...
