Stilgar- this is not perfect- but a decent assumption is: Mav D- will establish a track (lock on) around 8 nm or slightly less.. Mav H- around 6 nm There will be variables with this, but when you hit these thresholds- start cycling "TMS up short" every couple of seconds until the cross + is flashing. You're not doing it wrong- you're just looking for the magic a bit early. Easy to do- because one can see that the range caret on the left side of the MAV screen is well within the range scale before it will actually lock on to anything- most of the time.

or you Print the the "acronyms" section of the manual- which lists pretty much all of them in ABC order over 5 pages or so... (658-663)

Where do you get HSI bearing for landings?
S77th-konkussion replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
For the HSI- yes. I suppose from then on- you could make notes on the charts about how accurate it is from there. (meaning the magnetic error) -
Where do you get HSI bearing for landings?
S77th-konkussion replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Oh you HAD to pick Batumi... Batumi seems cursed in this particular section.. Note that SHu's chart says 125/ 305.. According to worldaerodata.com Batumi is actually 130.7 but in DCS, if you use 130 then the HSI is off.. so 125 seems better.. then you account for mag var.. oh hell with it... You're backwards.. The runway number is derived from the actual magnetic heading - not the other way around.. You start with the heading, round it and remove the zero. You can't neccessarily back into it the other way- and come out with the number you should use. Look at my example above from Beslan. You won't come out with 093 or 273 with your method.. -

You can use Shu77 's airport charts.. I have them posted on google docs.. http://www.s77th.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1683 (couple other things you might find useful there too) The BIG runway numbers are derived from rounding up from a heading on the compass. If a runways' actual magnetic course runs say 093 (and 273 from opposite end) those runways would be: Round up 093 to 100, cut off the 0. Round up 273 to 280, cut off the 0.. voila---- Runway is assigned numbers 10 and 28 -
I am also reinstalling as I post this... Waiting on defrag now.. Taking forever..

Fly heading 232 for 35, qfe 29.............
S77th-konkussion replied to bloomstomb's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I may not be using the proper terminology for the gauge in my previous comment about a 1000 millibars... -
Fly heading 232 for 35, qfe 29.............
S77th-konkussion replied to bloomstomb's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yes- if I understand you. The "published" elevation was 59. That mB reading produced about a -60 reading on the HUD, and of course- the altimeter itself. Published-- shu's charts. -
Fly heading 232 for 35, qfe 29.............
S77th-konkussion replied to bloomstomb's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yes- I did. Coincidentally, or not- when I dialed that # in- it happened to be -60 instead of +60.. Don't know if that matters or not.. -

S77th-konkussion replied to bloomstomb's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Post -Patch .7 -- QFE 3980? I didn't bother to spin the altimeter dial a 1000 millibars, but that's several thousand feet higher than the 59 ASL indicated on the Kobuleti airport charts isn't it? Edit-- I see I am fashionably late to this party.. -
Same here. The "//" trick solved some freezes like a 3-4 second freeze when MAV's hit a target, and upon a switch to F3 external view- but they are still quite bad. Bad stutter when turning on TGP. (not pwr- but selecting mode after warmup) others are a bit random.. will try to write down some specifics if I can find any other patterns.. Frames seem pretty sucky to so-so to me. (MP mission: "separatist aggression" as client, host only other one in room..)

These are just the same online stores you see everywhere- listed together, that's all.

Aero windows on or off for better fps?
S77th-konkussion replied to ScEBlack1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was under the impression that this was an issue- back when vista first hit the scene. Supposedly it's not as big a deal as it was. Secondly- I have seen several apps disable aero on their own- or windows does it automatically.... I'm not convinced it really helps these days. I tried it for an issue that persists to this day- made no difference.. -
just put them side by side on your desktop- and click on the setup.exe.. after installation- you can move them to your docs for storage if you want..

Got it installed, but will be flying a bit later due to beautiful sunlight shining into my office... wreaks TiR havoc unless I rig a complex light blocking assembly... flannel sheets, towels, etc... :D For ED's info- the regular posted links would not connect at all (HTTP 1 & 3: usa) I used torrent with no problem of course- but I wanted to pass that on. I'm sure they get plenty of hate mail when this happens...

Hope for another FC2 compatibility patch
S77th-konkussion replied to Distiler's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Significantly raising the FC2 bar would be the only thing that I would find attractive about an eventual merging.. Support & develop FC- absolutely. Merge FC into DCS ? .. not in it's current state of avionics & weapons modeling.. like anyone cares about my opinion.. but nevertheless...:D -
The Logitech G940? Or not?
S77th-konkussion replied to Emmer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Warthog or CH Products.. Warthog tops for DCS WH, CH tops as an all around HOTAS for several platforms. -
The Savage 77th The Savages are one of the founding LOMAC squadrons- the inventors of the LOMAC league- the premier online squad vs. squad competition. Operations conducted primarily from the decks of the Admiral Kuznetov, as in LOMAC we placed special emphasis on SU33 operations- although we fly virtually all LOMAC aircraft. The Savages are now committed to operations in DCS A10C. FC2 is still in the picture- but please note that we are not scheduling any Squadron activities in this title. Same goes for Black Shark- no activities scheduled. REQUIREMENTS: Maturity and an attitude conducive to having fun. 18 and over only please. DCS:A10c (FC2 & BS would be a good idea too- but not required) Teamspeak 3 w/ microphone. The Squadron operates in English. MSN Messenger is preferred. (backup comms) HOTAS & Track IR HIGHLY recommended. The squadron's view is that it's often too difficult to train people lacking these items. Hope for another FC2 compatibility patch
S77th-konkussion replied to Distiler's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
oh yeah? Probably pissed at me because I let it expire and downgrade itself to the "free" account. My site's content exceeds the limits by oh.. about 10x lol... There's nothing that i put on that should trigger it... might be one of their stupid banner ads... checking it on girlfriend's computer now- using MSE.. edit- no alarms here... will check it again from home- that machine has avast on it... -

^^ sounds like a reasonable analysis to me.. -
Wags specifically noted the longer loading times at the top of the changelog.
