  1. Might be time to look at in game comms again. I remember Nova's version of it was a major lag inducer, but that was ages ago. People were just beginning to transit to broadband in significant numbers.. At the time- even when most of us in \PR/ had high-speed- it still caused performance problems, so obviously it needed work just the same.. so Roger Wilco (and eventually TS late in the game) it was for much of our reign.. As far as HL goes-- other than the chat room benefits... buh-bye. :bye:
  2. Some people take it more seriously than others. I for one- have not spent a fraction of what some people have. If you view a set of top shelf rudder pedals for $69 too expensive--- well.... lol I don't know what else to say to you. Enjoy.
  3. I would say you're wrong. I 've seen what appears to be degraded brake performance both after what was likely over use and (what appeared to be) wet braking. In fact the wet braking struck me as a little over done- but I have no real life experience to compare...
  4. Maybe they disassembled a couple of the top antennae.. :P
  5. Trying to find the average height of Nimitz class.. It seems to be close to 200 feet with a quick search... Typical draft is 37 to 40 feet.... Wonder what the soundings of this area look like.. OK looks like guidelines for port facilities call for a "lightly loaded" Height of 215 feet.. and that figure is from 13 years ago... ruh roh.... hope those are drawbridges..
  6. Your call- but you'll be missing out on a great deal of realism & immersion. Planes have pedals. Serious flightsticks do not have twisting rudders. DCS finally FINALLY addressed something that was sorely painfully lacking in LOMAC- differential toe brakes. Adds a whole new dimension to landing. ;) Getting on the ground is just the beginning. hate to see you or anyone miss out on that, and the other real functions of the pedals.
  7. Well- changing the centering key from the default f12 to something useless DCS-wise like Number pad 5 would solve it. Then checking the trap box would keep DCS from centering independently of your track ir. Clearing the function from DCS is also a good idea.
  8. I would recommend Provantage Best $ I've ever seen. Often people in your shoes are faced with a budget driven conundrum: track IR. Hotas, rudder pedals... Although it is common advice to delay on rudder pedals (in favor of HOTAS & Track IR) I must say that the pedals here are so cheap - it would be somewhat foolish to skip them. Mine were $110 or so back 2 or 3 years ago.. You already have a track ir so basically for $69 difference- you're fully equipped.
  9. CH Products are WORLDS ahead of Saitek X52 pro in HATS and programmability, reliability, support, and cheaper than an X65. A little more money than an X52 pro- but when it breaks- you easily exceed the cost of CH when you replace it.. Saitek Combat rudder pedals 100% better looking though- I'll give em that.
  10. I have seen (once before) that although slaved to the TGP's SPI- a Maverick D has in fact swerved off to something else close by- like a house or something- when set into tracking mode.
  11. No.. It turns off upon retraction.
  12. Switch the band to FM.
  13. Yeah- I'm referring to the nonstop "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "Chevy 2-1 you are cleared to taxi to runway 6" "negative" "negative" "negative" "negative" "negative" "negative" "negative" "negative" :disgust::chair::pain::furious::dunno::bomb::censored::spam_laser::punch::gun_sniper::wallbash::gun_rifle::inv: This makes the sim feel more "beta" than any other issue that I know of- by far.
  14. Good going- you'll love it
  15. Think that's bad? Wait'll you DO get clearance- then they won't STFU...
  16. The neighborhood association requires all residents to own DCS... :D
  17. I have hosted 8 people- and flew- smoothly... I have had issues where my sound begins to garble and soon I have to reboot, but that has nothing to do with the connection as that happens client or hosting..
  18. Not really Celtic. As long as you delete the default button assignments first- you can use the stick software. Although I don't doubt there are sticks that you would NOT want their software- CH is not one of these..
  19. Good question for Paul. If he doesn't know- he could probably find out pretty quickly.. FWIW I tend to boresite mine if I am forced to make another run on a target... Just didn't want to take a chance that it wouldn't track, etc...
  20. No- not really. Trimming requires constant attention- it's not supposed to hold any particular rate of climb/ descent based on how much you input. Unless your control stick is visibly moving after you let go of the trim button- it's not stuck on or anything like that and is unlikely to be malfunctioning.
  21. I suppose one could speculate that using the Mav seeker directly might be more common IRL - if for no other reason- the CCD & especially the IR picture might be of better quality, thus the pilot has better contrast to work with >> the Maverick seeker locks on more reliably than it does for us in DCS.. We might think that because there are fewer steps to launch a MAV directly that this would translate to quicker shootin' from the hip-- I'm not so sure.. These pilots don't just climb into a HAWG- it becomes part of their body. I bet they could airmail you a Maverick pretty damn quickly through the TGP.. Also- it's entirely possible that the Sniper might be easier to use anyway..
  22. Thanks- but the creators' name is on that sheet. Print it off duplex..
  23. By the way- slaving Mavericks to the targeting pod is MUCH more effective way to employ them..
