  1. It's making approaches really hard because the runway basically disappears unless it's noon in good weather.
  2. The problem with the INS bombing is that the F10 map and mission editor only give you headings in rounded format, when you actually need decimals to bomb well. At longer distances a tenth of a degree makes a massive difference in accuracy. If you can pick a reference point that's the exact angle with no decimals you'll hit just fine.
  3. Yikes! Thanks for sharing.
  4. A problem with translating directly to Farsi is that most likely the sentence structure might differ from English quite a bit in some cases, so the audio would play out of order. A Farsi speaker talking in English with an accent would be more doable.
  5. Is it a story you might be willing to share?
  6. The cockpit certainly has all the D2M indications and switches, for one. I think it can stay as an option - don't like it, don't use it, which is what I do, but nothing wrong with those who want to play with that.
  7. A little tidbit, the first use of unguided rockets as air-to-air weapons was in the Soviet Union! The RS-82 was regularly used from Khalkin Gol up to early 1942, mainly by what quickly became low-performance aircraft in the I-16, I-15 and I-153 families. Salvos of rockets set to explode in the air were fired at enemy groups, but the effectiveness of this tactic was rather limited.
  8. You need to think of the long-run: make it as a mod, present it to the developers so they can check it out, and if they like it then they add it to the game :) That's how most of the skins included in DCS made it in. My advice to you is, after the F-14B is released so they will have a little more time in their hands, to contact IronMike (Jester's director) and Cobra (head developer) to ask more about what kind of work would be involved in making an Iranian Jester, either speaking Farsi or English with an Iranian accent. They will then be able to tell you what would be needed, and you can see what you can do to help them out like networking with Iranians who have Tomcat experience or who are willing to lend their voice to the recording process.
  9. If you get a dedicated Farsi-speaking person who is willing to do the voiceovers for each Jester audio file, and someone who can produce it to sound like a radio transmission and also realistic in flight regimes, it can be done!
  10. You're in for a surprise, buddy :D
  11. Good stuff, nice editing!
  12. Out of curiosity, is there a list of the specific AIM-7/AIM-9/AIM-54 variants that'll be available on release? Cracking video by the way, Jabbers!
  13. This is really awesome, well done! I loved the action shots, particularly the guncam video. PS: Here's the embedded version, if anything
  14. For what it's worth a few operators have used an adaptor to hang Python 3 (and MAA-1, in Brazil's case) missiles on the outboard underwing pylons without major changes, but none of those were done on the exact F-5E batch we have.
  15. For what it's worth I think they only really used that loadout for ferry missions since you couldn't land on the carrier with a safe fuel reserve. The Iranian pilots said that anything above two Phoenixes made the plane handle like a dog anyway so while there will be some individuals spamming them from half a world away, they'll be easy targets for the return fire.
  16. cofcorpse, I sent you a PM with a track, the mission and some screenshots. Let me know if it arrived :)
  17. Now the GBU-12 is also affected, for what it's worth.
  18. Red Flag, 2012 After scoring three kills in Georgia At War... Carrying Christmas gifts to Beslan! Senta A Púa!
  19. Sounds an awful lot like the F-15C and F-15E, Hat.
  20. The competitor of the Tomcat is the Super Hornet, not the F-22 or the F-35, and as things stand the F/A-18 would still be the preferred platform because it is cheaper and easier to fly and keep operational. The F-14D was roughly on par with modern 4th generation fighters, and had there been enough interest to keep it flying it would have undergone testing and certification to fire the AIM-120 and the newest AIM-9 models.
  21. For starters, if you want to fly around Tonopah at least choose the air force base there, because that runway in Tonopah Airport is woefully unfit for fast jet operations. The main problems in your take-off run are that you're too impatient. Whether you give it take-off trim or not (you most definitely should), in an F-5E with full fuel and an external tank you're looking at a take-off speed of around 155-160 knots, with the trim indicator around 7 degrees. Your attempts were too wobbly because you were pulling all the way back without having enough speed to do much, which then led to unsticking violently when the wings did their thing. Next time, try to set the trim, pick a nice and long runway, check the dampers (two little switches all the way to the left, behind the radar and countermeasure controls), extend the nose gear strut, step on the brakes until engine RPM reaches around 100%, then let the plane run until 155kts. Only then you start pulling gently on the stick, and you'll be flying in no time! About the landing, there isn't much to say, once you noticed things weren't right you should have added power and re-entered the pattern. Again, at a nicer airfield it's easier.
