  1. Thanks a lot for the update! Quick question if you don't mind, are you still planning to do an option to remove the TCS and other minor changes to simulate the IIAF/IRIAF Tomcats?
  2. I'm not able to complete mission #6. Is there anything else to do besides bombing any of the convoys in the kill box?
  3. As of three weeks ago:
  4. It's working well for me, but there's a severe drop in frame rate when it's on.
  5. Raise the seat a good bit to keep your eye on the runway, that usually takes care of it.
  6. The good news is, the VOR frequencies in DCS are in the VHF range. This means you can turn your second radio into a poor man's ADF. All you have to do is ask Jester to put it on DF mode and dial in the frequency. So long as you are not receiving TACAN, the needle should point to the VOR station and you can fly without worrying.
  7. Has there been a single Navy programme that didn't go through severe problems at one or many points? The Tomcat had a propensity for exploding early on, the initial Phantoms were laughable, the testing squadron's evaluation of the Hornet was unfavourable around the boat, the first Corsair was a deathtrap and the second one was woefully underpowered, the very Crusader had a reputation of Ensign Eliminator from the get-go.
  8. Fantastic work, bravo!
  9. They are remarkably useful when active off the rail in boresight mode, allowing you essentially to lob a live fire-and-forget grenade into a fight from a respectable while working on other problems. For example, if you're busy with one bandit but you see a wingman closing in, throw a Phoenix into their direction outside of IR range to either kill the enemy or force them into defensive, work on the initial bandit then assess your options. That said, the minimum launch range is relatively high so if the fight gets too tight you might want to get rid of them in exchange for some angles.
  10. Haven't they confirmed that the plan is to make the late 1980s/early 1990s F-14A and the Iranian F-14A as of delivery, which is by and large the same as the early American F-14A?
  11. Another vote for the emergency wing sweep!
  12. I'm all about the F-14A. It was the proper Tomcat that made it a legend, it flew for both the United States and Iran, it flew in the 1970s and 1980s, and it poses a nice challenge!
  13. Thanks Dudikoff! I love reading Paco's articles, should get his book too sometime.
  14. I did it the other day. It may or may not have happened right above Las Vegas city centre, and there may or may not have been an element of flexing on the Chair Force infants with their straight in approaches at Nellis.
  15. When I want something modern and technological I go fly the Mirage 2000. When I start up an F-5, it's because I want to go, spot the target with my own eyes and gun the Gomer down instead of hiding behind a radar scope. The F-5E is my favourite plane in DCS, but I voted 'No' because I don't feel the F-5N is a good direction for it. We already went down the USN/USMC Aggressor route with this F-5E-3 and in my opinion it's a poor choice already because it adds some gizmos that weren't used for most of its operational history while also lacking very important radio and navigation gear for combat use.
  16. Meh, that's very little gain for a lot of work. We'd still end up with an Aggressor plane, with the same armament, but some gizmos that have limited use because you can already add a GPS with the GNS 430 and the radar won't be able to actually guide any new munitions with it. If we were to get a different Tiger variant I would propose the older F-5E-1 series as received either by Brazil or Morocco. Those had ILS/VOR receivers, factory-installed air-to-air refuelling probe provisions, no countermeasures or RWR, the older AN/APQ-153 radar with the much more gainly round radome, manually-actuated combat flaps, a dorsal fin to aid in directional stability, a second radio (VHF) and in some units an inertial navigation system was added. This would make the Tiger much more hands-on aircraft to contend with contemporary fighters like the MiG-19, MiG-21, Mirage III and so on, while also greatly enhancing its ability to operate in primitive conditions where TACAN or divert fields aren't readily available with VOR and tankers being the alternatives, which by extension also means more pylons dedicated to actual ordnance instead of taking more bags than the centreline 275 tank. Another alternative is the Saudi models introduced with Peace Hawk IV, which had all the aforementioned capabilities but retained the RWR, chaff/flare dispensers and 159 radar. PS: We already have compressor stalls and flameouts, it's just that the F-5 is incredibly resistant to them in real life. Start at angels 30,000, accelerate as fast as you can then put the nose vertical and wait. You'll very often flame out both engines, which then leads to a relight scramble.
  17. I had this problems twice, both in combat with multiple enemy radars painting the plane.
  18. Landed a Tomcat there the other day.
  19. I'm really enjoying Jester so far. There are some shortcomings here and there, LANTIRN being the highest on my list, but overall the dude is a champ and even if I've flown with human RIO twice I still love good old Jester.
  20. They're certainly around, but I don't know if they will make a Tomcat campaign. If you know the skills you want to learn though, you can make a passable version of the missions yourself! For example, I have 14 mission files which I set up so I could learn each system, some of which can be modified for difficulty or variation.
  21. Yay, Nugget videos!
  22. Red, there will eventually be a KA-6D AI model available indeed!
