The 12.7mm gun just wasn't very good. It had a limited movement range, rudimentary aiming and was very, very prone to jamming. There's no way you'll get Mohammed al-Stinger ducking before he sends a spicy tree branch up your engine.

It'll probably look something like this: Rockets (up to 4 launchers): S-5, S-8, S-13, S-24 Missiles (up to 8 tubes): 9K114 Shturm Pods (up to 4 pods): GUV (machine guns or grenade launcher), UPK-23 Bombs (up to 4): FAB-100, FAB-250, FAB-500, potentially ODAB, RBK and KMGU dispensers in the same weight range Fuel tanks (up to 4) KORD machine gun There are a few unusual loadouts like the R-60 or the quadruple FAB-100 rack which are bigger question marks.

Yes, same one found on the MiG-21bis.

Worth noting that both Mi-24P and Mi-8MTV2 are powered by two Klimov TV3-117VM engines, with the only difference between their propulsion system being the Mi-24's smaller main rotor blades. Logically speaking, they should sound nearly identical.

Wheels dig into tarmac when taxiing
Lucas_From_Hell replied to Jacodv201's topic in General Problems
Can confirm the shimmy and sinking, though it's worth noting that the manual states a 10km/h limit for turns when taxiing, which explains all the weight tipping onto one wheel and potentially popping it. -
Will we get one with the Mi-24? All other ED helicopters came with fantastic story-driven campaigns, I'd love it if the Mi-24 got the same treatment.

The essential helicopter RWR is one simple red lamp that lights up the second any signals are detected. It gives you some time to write a will down. Beyond that, there's very little you could do - you're probably flying low already since you're not dumb and this is a helicopter, you can't outrun any threats, and can't kill them either.
-
The reason we're getting the 30mm variant is because Belsimtek developers talked extensively to many Mi-24 pilots and gunners when doing research for the module, and were told more or less unanimously that the machine gun is useless in combat and everyone prefers the 30mm cannon as it can actually destroy things.

For me I'd just like to have a version with the Soviet roundels instead of modern Russian ones.
-
If this is optional it'd be ideal, as a lot of us like to fly the original cockpit but read English manuals.

Soviet/Russian Attack Helicopter tactics for the Hind?
Lucas_From_Hell replied to Andrei Dragovic's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
In the DCS context, you'll want at least one Ka-50 to scout ahead and eliminate any area denial threats and communicate the situation to the assault party (composed of Mi-24s and Mi-8s), and then these roll in with the Mi-24 blasting targets to clear the landing zone while the Mi-8 deploys troops. Usually the Mi-8 flew with two pods so they could perform as auxiliary air support to clear the LZ or to support the troops afterwards, but the Mi-24 was the main battering ram. -
PKT machine gun in the crew compartment
Lucas_From_Hell replied to Lucas_From_Hell's topic in Wish List
Fantastic, thank you! -
The gunner has only the bare essentials in terms of controls, and does not have access to any of the mission equipment located in the pilot's seat, including the navigation, rockets and cannon triggers as far as I know. Per old Belsimtek newsletters, there will be a gunner AI to handle spotting and targeting.

During the Soviet-Afghan War, a number of Mi-24s had the doors and windows of the passenger compartment modified to carry a crew chief with a 7.62mm PKT machine gun. It would be great if this appeared as a loadout option in the mission editor, like the non-controllable PKT or the KORD available on the Mi-8MTV2. Here are some photos demonstrating the installation:

The MiG-21 AI wingmen can detect targets way outside the scope's range scale, as shown here:

AlphaOneSix is correct. If in doubt, go with the English reporting name.

Please add some Syrian AF Liveries for the Mig-21
Lucas_From_Hell replied to NASA6's topic in MiG-21Bis
Highjacking this a bit, are liveries depicting the MiG-21bis during its service in Afghanistan, both with the Soviet and Afghan air forces, in the cards? -
Good catch! That probably explains it.

Based on a short test in the current OB build, SAU Recovery oscillations are largely gone, however it stabilises in a -5 to -10 m/s shallow dive. SAU Stabilisation is working very well and greatly increases control precision when active. SAU PRMG Director mode works partially - localiser functions well, glideslope needle seemed to be stuck all the way up. SAU PRMG Auto mode is slightly improved from the last update, with somewhat smoother corrections, but still pitches down hard more or less between the markers.
