  1. I've found that landing with the heading channel engaged is trickier, as the AP is quite slow to compensate and gives you more work especially when changing collective when entering hover or going into ground effect. Anyway it is even written in the manual (I should have read it better): In execution of turns be sure to place feet onto the pedals and depress the tiptoe pedals. Warning: Never remove feet from the pedals during turn since this causes severe skidding of the helicopter due to an autopilot tendency to hold the heading occurring at the moment of releasing the pedals.
  2. Thanks that's it! I thought that holding down the trimmer button would have the same effect - disconnecting AP, but apparently it doesn't. So the only way to disconnect the heading AP is to always use the pedals during heading changes - I wonder if that is how the real thing works.
  3. I understand all that, but it doesn't work, I center the pedals but the AP wants to go to the previous heading (when it was engaged). Maybe it is waiting until I recenter all controls to complete the TRIM script and assign a new heading, however I cannot do it as I have FFB stick.
  4. This works - I have mapped this to a rotary, but it is practical only for small heading adjustments. Assigning a new heading by pressing the trim does not work when I want to reverse heading and keep it there. Heading AP with my setup works well with KA-50, so I suppose it has something to do with the rudder not being trimmable with FFB on Mi-8.
  5. The heading autopilot is not working with FFB trim (G940 stick), because with FFB trim enabled, there is no rudder trim and the heading AP will try to maintain only the position when it was switched on and ignores heading input by trimming. This means that when I press trim the AP still wants to return to previous heading. So basically pressing the trim doesn't somehow assign a new heading.
  6. even the Mi-24 has a flight engineer on board.
  7. I am also happy with the current speech status as I don't have to use a MOD to get russian speech in russian airforce. for ED, thanks for this.
  8. Unfortunatelly, with FFB switch ON in game and FFB OFF on the stick, trim does not work at all. It seems that the trimmer system with FFB is done only through generation of forces on the stick and since pedals have no force mechanism they are "unchained" from the trim.
  9. I've just tested it (at least that is how it works by me with FFB stick G940): FFB ON -> rudder is unchained from the trimmer system FFB OFF -> rudder is chained with the trimmer system
  10. I must say that it works great, however we need at least some AI to operate it, because it is hard to pilot the helicopter and set the doppler system when passing a waypoint, as it needs a precise timing.
  11. My pedal trim is not working, although I would like to see it working. After I press trimmer button, I immediately recenter pedals, however the virtual pedals are also re-centered. I have FFB and central trimmer method set to off. Maybe when you disable central trimming method, rudder is automatically unchained from the trimmer system?
  12. Well, I haven't found it anywhere - but maybe it is also appropriate to ask the following questions here: 1. Is there a plan to show the crew in the cockpit? Or is it possible to somehow enable it (rshift+p doesn't work)? 2. Is there any good tutorial on mastering the doppler navigation? Or how do you navigate in the Mi-8? (So far I am only using map and Eye Mk1 navigation :) Thanks for answers.
  13. I would love to see other crewmen in the cockpit, it is so empty (although beautiful).
  14. Well, I have a force feedback stick and the rudder is not affected by the trim. So probably for FFB users, it is unchained from the trim system.
  15. Clutter is FPS killer, 150 m is just enough - I can even live with 0 m and have all other settings maxed (including mirrors) :)
  16. Try to put another copter in your desired parking slot and then change it to Mi-8, will that work?
  17. I have just had my first crash because of the inverted axis, I'll try to invert it - hope it doesn't affect Ka-50, because it has worked well there after half year of waiting to fix it.
  18. That idea would probably cause problems with touchscreen users like me - so if implemented I hope they'd keep it optional.
  19. Fellow Mi-8 operators: Do you know if it is possible to see the other crew members in the cockpit?
  20. Bought it, but still waiting for 1.2.6 - that's the real pain :D
  21. F5 F5 F5 - Can't wait ! :)
  22. Thanks, it is a very nice tutorial - however the real Su-25 has only 3 enroute waypoints available and this is the cause that RSBN has only 3 lights. So in reality you wouldn't be able to have a route with 5-6 waypoints and if you keep in the realistic limits you won't have problems with RSBN signalization :)
  23. this is a great paper and quite advanced for the time, thanks a lot ! (I am doing research in the area of intelligent aircraft control systems)
  24. +1 for that. As I've read most Su-25s are load with 4xB-8 pods or 4xFAB-250 (500) or S-24 unguided. Fancy laser guided munitions or advanced rockets were reserved only for very delicate targets (e.g. in the first Chechnya war only 3% of employed munitions was guided).
