  1. May help :dunno: :v:
  2. I don't know what the protocol is but wouldn't he have dropped his external tanks? There was a lot going on so maybe not but if ever there was good reason to dump tanks then that's gotta be it. :hmm:
  3. Hi All, I'm updating my CDDS tutorial a little and I decided to produce two versions, one Light and a Heavy version that contains most of the plug ins and software you'll require. The problem is that when I embed the files into the PDF it becomes impossible to view them because Adobe Acrobat have black listed most of the useful file extensions i.e .exe, .zip, .rar etc. The only way around this is to alter the registry which makes it useless becasue the idea of embedding files is to make it easier for the end user, however I found a compression, .7z, that actually works great, in fact its far better than .zip or .rar and PDF haven't blocked it. Now if you have Winrar installed then you should be able to unzip the files but I'm not so sure if winzip users will able be to open .7z attachments so I've made a test PDF which you can download and test to see if it will work. PDF Test Its only 73kbs and if some of you have the time could you please download and follow the simple instructions to see if it works. It should only take about 30 secs to complete. When you're done could you also please just leave a simple review like this; I use Winrar/ Winzip or both: ( or just Winrar or winzip etc) 1. Y/N 2. Y/N 3. Y/N Where Y= Yes it worked and N= No it didn't.eg: Winzip: 1. N 2. Y 3. Y Also any other comments are welcome. Thank you for any and all help. Test PDF.zip
  4. I don't think SoaringEagle74 was being insistent on having labels in servers but rather just mentioning his preference. For me flying with labels on is just an immersion killer and it really doesn't take very long to get used to flying with out them but I can understand that there is a very good argument that labels can be more realistic if the distances are set right. In IL2 most of the Popular "full real" servers had labels turned on at a distance where in real life you would be able to identify aircraft markings and I did prefer those servers from those that ran no labels on at all. However in lockon any type of labels for me just doesn't work but I except that realism is as important to those that fly with reduced labels as it is for those that fly with out them. Anyway this isn't about labels ;) .. I did some testing last night and I have to say I still prefer Real G's as apposed to the reduced effect and its nothing to do with ego ;) . I like the way it simulates fatigue on the pilot and you are more than able pull very high sustained G loads time after time if you're careful with the way you pile on the G's. If you yank and bank then it's black out time but if you increase the G load a little more carefully then you black out much less. Online however is another matter seeing as you face a competitive "death match" situation where missile behavior can lead to prolonged dog fights that should have ended in a few seconds and this can be frustrating if you loose becasue the lights were turned off. Now I am not saying Real G is more realistic than reduced G but for "me" the way it simulates G's on the v-pilot is more immersive. Although I don't have an issue either way as to what is the best way to fly is so what ever the server is running is fine by me .
  5. I never said you have to "care" I was just stating the fact that with the G setting set to real you have to consider how hard you're flying and monitor your G loads. In real life you can feel the G's so I doubt you'd pull 8 G's just to pull off of a target while attacking ground units or what ever. Also I never said two 8 G's was enough or realistic I was merely stating another game fact that you can pull 2 8+ g turns with out blacking out which isn't so bad. We all know that absolute realism in this area won't be found in lockon but IMO I find it more immersive and realistic to fly with real G's set to real even if a real pilot could take more G's. And as for "not liking it .. or believing it" well can't see how that has anything to do with what I said.. seeing as I stated it doesn't bother me either way. Have what ever settings you want, it's your server so what ever melts your butter is fine by me. Things are getting quite tense around here eh.. :joystick:
  6. I agree. You can't obviously feel the effects of G's in the virtual skies so every maneuver usually takes place in the extreme G region. With G's set to real I always consider every turn and for most maneuvers I stay around 4 G's so by the time I get in closer I can pull two 8+ G maneuvers before blacking out. But it really doesn't bother me which G setting is being used.
  7. Love to see a Hornet in DCS .. I really hope at some future point navy opps is seriously modeled and if possible with ground crews too :v:
  8. The issues raised in that video have been known about for several years but its still worth bringing them up every now and then to try and get it fixed, even though that seems unlikely now. I would say that I don't see everything in that video as an exploit but it does make a change from calling it simply "bugs" in lomac ;) . Anyway every game or sim from HALO to Falcon has its own problems and its up to you to figure out whether you'll enjoy playing it or not. Personally Falcons FM's are just too weak and that for me is a show stopper but for others Lomacs bugs make it unplayable. The fact is that Lomac is realistic with in reason. Sure some realistic tactics wont work becasue of certain issues within the sim but that's the nature of not spending millions of dollars on a simulator with support from the manufactures of the weapons and their systems. Now that doesn't mean it's hard for us to understand why certain bugs still plague lockon when on the surface they seem rather simple to fix but on the whole I still say that Lockon is the most realistic combat sim out there. However IMO a flightsim that doesn't provoke very strong comments and heated debates isn't worth playing.
  9. I remember seeing a few tracks and videos in F 2.5 of people using the keyboard to control the aircraft and I still can't believe the control some people acheived with that setup but in LO you really need a joystick; Try this old solution and see if it helps; http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=166001#post166001
  10. These two points are what I was thinking about  . Close in I tend to beam (dump counter measures) and then pull into the bandit, not timed by the RWR becasue I'm mostly trying to keep an eye on the other guy but in a similar way I've seen drones escaping AIM 9's in a few videos.
  11. Good video showing the holes in missile accuracy but I'm not sure I'd call notching in the way it was shown an exploit. Also is pulling high g's (magic pull) to avoid a missile considered an exploit now? It just seems exactly what you should be doing if a missile is closing in on you. Obviously it shouldn't be as successful as it is in the LO but pulling hard into the missile seems realistic.. with in reason :smilewink: . Just a note about online play; It will never be as realistic as we all want it to be with out the ability of the mission editor to produce more realistic missions. What we have now is a never ending dogfight mission with no goals other than shoot down as many aircraft as you can with no caps on resources like missiles or aircraft etc. Can you imagine what any arcade first person shooter would look like, online, if there were no time limits on the match  .. Players in this type off environment will always find an exploit which is why the best way to experience LO online is by flying in one of the scheduled missions where specific goals need to be achieved with in a reasonable time frame. I personally don't fly online much, well since the ECM forest showed up I found the whole experience rather tedious seeing as I fly alone but it's still good fun at times and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
  12. Happy New Year to all!! Man I've been away for awhile and am now catching up on this DCS stuff :shocking: .. Been here since the beginning and as soon as I step out for a bit you guys go and change everything lol :v:
  13. Haven’t been around in awhile but hope everyone had a great Christmas.. !! :) Wish you all a happy New Year!!
  14. Exactly my thoughts as well... Did you read my mind :smilewink:
  15. Thx for the heads up, it looks like a lot of work went into that Mod, but the Jets in ArmA aren't very fun to fly IMO. In fact I haven't even tried the A10 yet. All the aircraft in ArmA are awesome as a tactical problem for a foot soldier; there's nothing like getting killed by rockets from a Ka50 while online in a huge coop:smilewink: . But having a real flightsim on your Hard drive takes away any motivation to fly ArmA jets in combat. However it's great that Bi have made the Jets in ArmA flyable as the ArmA crowd seem to want more realistic jets and I know a lot of people that have become serious flighsimers after flying around in ArmA and wanting to take flying more seriously.
  16. It would be cool and I bet you'd have forum members using it 24/7, just like there's always someone on the ED.ru boards.
  17. Thats what I meant; Just the way I likem :thumbup: And great new pics, really awesome qaulity.
  18. Absolutely awesome :thumbup: That sounds pretty damn close to the sound levels I have too :)
  19. Welcome to the Lunacy :pilotfly:
  20. Nice Pics :thumbup: Just the way I likem, with out any Photo Shop enhancement. I mean I do like the pics touched up in PS as well but I prefer to see just the raw images with out any artificial flavorings  .
  21. http://forum.lockon.ru/showpost.php?p=354142&postcount=33 Merc included a few real world weapons mods as a part of his new TER model package. Download it and then have a look at the readme and the thread I linked to in my original reply.
  22. This Mod contains a real world A10 weapons mod which will allow you to use the BL-755 as well as a few Laser guided bombs. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=23912 Its on page two of the above link but its worth reading through the entire thread becasue there's some good info that might help you with any problems.
  23. Here's the settings I use and it works perfect for me with all flyables; For Pitch and Roll, Shift 50 D-zone 1 Curve 33
  24. For those that might have missed the news there's a Meteor Shower going on right now that started Saturday and should peak today, so look up for about ten minutes and you should see at least one  . So far I've seen about ten already, it's pretty cool :) . http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6940962.stm
  25. Here's a post you may find useful; http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=21008 Also I'd add these mods to the list as well. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=24175 http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=23912 http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=20286 http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?p=249770&highlight=PTB-1500+in+lom+format.#post249770
