I came across this Mig25 documentary which seems to cover quite a few incidence's involving the Mig25. It's in Russian so I can't be sure what anyone is saying but the footage looks important :smilewink:. Anyway maybe someone can post this in Russian forum and give us a couple of sentences in English so we can understand what this was all about .. I do remember something about this but I always believed the sam theory instead. Wasn't the Mig25 set up for reconnaissance? That would make it a guns kill, unless of course the Mig was on an intercept mission.... Anyone have any info on how this engagement actually played out?

This is a better topic for debate although as I type this I can't remember what this thread is actually about ;).. Anyway I don't think the F15 will be so superior in game/sim that it will require any special treatment in regards to needing more red players than blue has missiles :D . IRL it maybe difficult to beat the force multiplier capability of the F15 but in an online game? I don't think it will play out the same way, players will find a successful tactic to even things out. Also there's the mission itself and what the mission editor will allow us to do, in terms of assigning mission goals etc, this can also the affect the superiority of a fighter although we'll have to wait and see how all this plays out, but I'm not worried about eagle dominating crane. :pilotfly:

This is exactly what I was talking about and I think D-Scythe summed it up, above, perfectly regarding an unfair fight even though you're out numbered by the enemy at the point of the gun. ARH are notoriously unreliable but in Vietnam air crews faced the most bizzare ROE you could possibly imagine, one of which was no shooting until you visually identify the enemy ..WTF was that about? I compared and Riducled nothing, I mearly stated a fact that to prove the supperiority of the F15 in terms of real world engagements is a "fools logic", the Eagle speaks for itself and the marriage of TWS and the aim120 is second to none in any arenea of known modern A2A combat.

Well Kuky does make a valid point regarding overwhelming force applied to a very small threat. The idea that the USAF had waves of fighters and decided to shoot from the hip and allow a fair fight with the Migs or any other engagement is just insane. This is the difference between real pilots and VP pilots. Real pilots don't see any merit in selling their side as being as weak as their opponent especially when up against such a weak enemy. The USAF hasn't faced an A2A opponent that was realistically capable of shooting anything down when up against so much air power since Vietnam . This is a credit to how well oiled the USAF actually is and the smartest thing an enemy can do is to berry their fighters in the sand and hope to weather the onslaught. I mean no F15 has ever been shot down but how many USAF A10's have been shot down by an A2A missile...? In fact when was the last time any aircraft in the US inventory was shot down by an airborne aggressor? Trying to sell any engagement of the USAF post Nam as anything other than a turkey shoot is as misguided as believing the F15 is not the best fighter in the world (save 4th, 5th gen fighters of course). The Eagle and Ammram partnership builds on the same idea that the USAF have been building on since WWII. And that is to make a fighter easy to use with a weapons system that doesn't require an ACE to get a kill.. Why? Well becasue it's the average pilot that wins a war. P51/47/ F86/ etc All great fighters that used the same weapons system, 50 cal machine guns when everyone else was using cannons, which required a much higher skill level to hit a target. Squeezing the trigger on four to eight 50's means you're gonna hit something... Pure genius IMO and most other countries don't really consider the entire package when integrating a fighter into a winning "Airforce". Now if the Eagle and it's weapons system were modeled in LO as they should be then you better believe they would be much more deadly than they are right now, but anything is beatable it just means tactics have to be adjusted ie stay out of the NEZ ;) etc. Edit: berry huh.. lol I meant bury.

I have no doubt that you're going to produce an amazing model of the F15 and I also have no doubt that someone will find some small detail that's not absolutely right and basically declare it unflyable. That's really the gist of my post, that I think we are sometimes far too demanding of modders like yourself and we look at the inconsistencies rather than the over all model. When I look at Walmis's F15 I see a highly detailed model that we're luckily to have and to read some of the posts lately suggests that some see his efforts as something to just begrudgingly live with until something better comes along which, IMO, is just the attitude of a spoiled brat. I think constructive criticism is a great thing but I've seen it turn into complaints far too often on these boards which shows no respect for the time and effort others have made to improve our simming experience.

I totally agree. I think Walmis's F-15 is just awesome. I don't think any model can withstand the magnifying glass criticism's... bottom line is that no one really needs to model another Eagle becasue the new one by Walmis is that good. However if someone wants to take a model to another level of detail then I'm all for that too :thumbup: .. Just remember when you're looking under the hood for misplaced rivets that some of us are still living with the default Sukhoi's :( / ;) . Absolutely right. We're going to be flying Lockon for the next 5 years, at least, before DCS release a fighter module and by then we're, most likely, going to complain that the Black Shark model isn't detailed enough ;) .

Well I'll add my 2 cents .. :) I'm currently learning how to play classical Guitar, I've only just started.. a few months now, after messing around with guitars for about a year. I can say it's damn hard heh but maybe in a year I'll sound OK :noexpression: . I don't listen to classical music at all but I do like the classical style of play :thumbup: . Well I like flightsims in general because I like to spend peanuts for a flgihtsim then spend years complaining about it, waiting for patches and reading producer notes for the next release :D .....
