G940: Can't start FC2 from Logitech Profiler
Scarecrow replied to wheatdog's topic in Bugs and Problems
One of the Beta testers has a G940 and no doubt the dev team have had access to all the SDK's that came with the package. From what I hear ED have tried VERY hard with little/no support from Logitech to make the FFB in DCS and FC2.0 better, Logitech are just woefully slow to respond to anything wether it be from customers or sim makers. As for the profiler not launching games this is purley a bug on the Logitech end you should contact Logitech support to register this bug. -
Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Scarecrow replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The reason Mark isn't commenting anymore is that his job is over. He got the product out and well known in the flightsim community, we trashed it and the horrible lack of support that they provide there isn't much more he can do for the G940 in any real sense and he's not ever going to have a honest dialogue about the project and it's shortcomings. The 5.09 release has been hinted at for quite some time, the win7 shift BSOD is enough to merit this, what is really worrying is that in his post CB stated that they were compiling a bug list, so 6 months down the road they're still only compiling a bug list. WTF they should be finalising the 5.09 software by now so we're still looking at least another 3-6 months before we'll get 5.09. And secondly the software engineer who is tasked 5.09 is female need I say more. -
SU_25T Campaign #2 / Anti-Ship queries
Scarecrow replied to coolts's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I feel exactly the same about the non-AFM planes and the A10 is my absolute fav. Can't wait to get back into that bird with a better flight model, as you said the Mav standoff range makes it a much better killer than the 25T with its high pilot workload.:pilotfly: P.S The 25A is a great way to train yourself in reading the steam guages for flight info instead of getting it off the hud. -
SU_25T Campaign #2 / Anti-Ship queries
Scarecrow replied to coolts's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You don't need to get "target recognition/lock" in order to fire the missiles once you're in range switch on the laser, fire and guide it to target, that's how I did it anyhow. -
The hardware is ok but the software is still in beta testing phase if you'd like to pay £260 to help Logitech develop their software, drivers and firmware feel free to join the team. They even recently admitted that logitechs software workaround for their substandard pots was the cause of the poor resolution of throttles and sliders :megalol: If you want something that works out of the box as advertised then CH is probably your best bet, the G940 might be ready for sale later this year. I don't think you'll find anyone outside of the Logitech marketing team who would advise you to buy this system.

Logitech G940 and Win 7 64 bit Blue Screen
Scarecrow replied to 's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's nothing to do with DCS.It's a known issue with the G940 and win7 and you'll just have to live with it until Logitech deam fit to make their drivers compliant with win7 could be a while off though they don't seem to see it as a problem for their customers, well not enough of a problem to release a hotfix anyhow. -
Noob needing a push in the right direction......
Scarecrow replied to rob86's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hi there, the best place to start is Lockonfiles.com a user site that is the main repository for all things Lockon and DCS, you'll need to register there before you can download mods and patches. The current patch version is 1.12b which you'll be able to get from Lockonfiles and then you'll have to decide what mods you want to use. Modman is the best way of installing mods as it allows you to easily install and uninstall mods with the click of a button again Modman can be found at Lockonfiles. This discussion here outlines what many consider to be the must have mods to LOFC 1.12 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=49214 Have fun flying and modding :pilotfly: -
I think there was a fault with the Flaming Cliffs cds in Lock on gold from the first production run you should be able to exchange it from the company that made it. Lockonfiles.com is the most complete comllection of mods and missions. Lockon won't require internet activation not sure about BS check the box to see if it says Internet connection required. Its a good idea to keep your gaming comp offline I used to before the wife took over the internet pc.

How to change default cockpit zoom ?
Scarecrow replied to BrzI's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I changed the 120 to 220 and flatened one side of my zoom curve on trakir so I don't go any further back in the cockpit than the start default position, only leaning in works leaning back does nothing if you do that. I've used notepad to cange snapviews.lua and graphics.cfg many times without i'll effect just remember to backup your config folder before tinkering. -
How to change default cockpit zoom ?
Scarecrow replied to BrzI's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I think xylem was referring to Brewber19's post of a BS snapview.lua. Strangley I just got my Vector expansion for TIR3 today and had the default zoom problem, thankyou for your help Spidey -
OCZ OCZMSNIA Neural Impulse Actuator
Scarecrow replied to sweinhart3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I read a review of this hardware on guru3d I think, it can detect eye movement and muscular tension in the jaw which the reviewer found to be counterintuitive. On top of that it can differentiate between alpha and beta brain waves but the reviewer could not trigger this function. http://www.guru3d.com/article/ocz-nia--neural-impulse-actuator-review/ -
Thanks for clarifying that Steve, I just thought from the way you phrased it that you had insider knowledge that ED had sought to improve the functioning of the centre spring effect in FC/DCS but Logitech wasn't answering the phone.
-
Sorry to change the subject but are you saying that you have knowledge that ED have approached Logitech about updating FFB effects in their products and Logitech have been unwilling to provide support to enable this? I'm one of the poor souls who also bought the G940.
-
 Thats cool will you keep us updated if you get an answer on the FFB front?:pilotfly:
-
I'd really just like a yes or no on this one, will FC2.0 support the current stock of FFB sticks or will it be coded to only support obsolete hardware from the late eighties/early nineties. I understand that the Logitech gambit to place the onus on developers was ambitious bordering on hubris and that ED and many other flight sim developers may feel that using development time on the tactile dimension of their simulators may not be cost effective due to the niche nature of FFB. In the end this is definately not going to affect my decision to get A-10C but I would like to know, also if this is not the correct place to ask this question were should I ask it? :helpsmilie:

I would give you my profile but I redefined alot of the FC keys so you would have to use my keyboard assignments aswell which would probably be less than ideal for you. I do have some hints though 1)Keypresses that have to be held like trim and target slew are better off being one keypress rather than combined keypresses i.e ctrl_up for trim up, the reason for this is that FC doesn't like the profilers reproduction of dual keypresses. 2) Put target slew on one of the throttle hats as it becomes really difficult to move the stick and manipulte the Hat switch at the same time. 3)I put trim on the castle hat on the stick and flight modes, A2A etc, on the the ministick (using zone commands). 4) Don't put any combat commands on S1 or S2 as they are impossible to reach in the heat of action. 5) The minstick commands can't be shifted using the shift button, it's a profiler bug, so its only good for 4 commands. 6) You can assign more than one shift button in the profiler so I have S5 on the stick and T3 on the throttle as it makes shifting easier when things get hectic. 7) You can use a zone command to assign wheel brakes to either toe brake on the pedals. The rest is personal preferance really but if you apply the logic from your previous profile for the x36 it should be pretty easy. My final suggestion is get that HOTAS bolted down to your desk! I never felt that confident with the G940 until I secured it, now I can yank and bank without the fear of knocking my coffee all over my tower.

@ Anyone with links to ED, will FC2.0 improve the centre spring effect for Force Feedback sticks like the G940? I would dearly love to have my stick work as intended in the FC2.0 and the DCS series of simulations. As I'm primarily an offline Frog flyer FC2.0 has limited appeal for me but if it included a FFB upgrade it would certainly be much more attractive. I know one of the test team has a G940 and I hoped this was an indicator that ED might update the effects.

Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Scarecrow replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's my opinion that the G940 was in fact first concieved as just being the stick unit but then they decided to add the throttle and pedals to justify the cost so you can bet that all the other components bar the Hall sensors are the cheapest and nastiest available. I've not had any issues with spiking yet but I've got the sinking feeling this thing won't last more than 2-3 years before I'll be looking for a replacement. If you look at the Logitech forum you see similar complaints about alot of the G series peripherals. As for the reviews of the G940 before it was released, most of then seemed more focused on the packaging than its actual in game performance! I feel totally ripped off especially since 4 months down the line the centre slop is still annoying and can only be cured by the game devs who aren't really going to go out of their way to help Logitech peddle this thing. The base buttons colour change can only be manipulated if you are a programmer/scripter or again the game devs decide to take time out of their schedule to help Logitech make their hardware features function correctly. The trims, R1, R2 and the throttles are a best quite innacurate. I'll be sending mine back at the end of this month if there isn't a driver update to cure the innacuracy of the pots adn impose a tighter centre spring effect in game. The whole thing stinks of "get it on shelves for christmas and we'll see about adding functionality later". -
To setup widescreen you need to edit the following section of Graphics.cfg as such DisplayMode { resolution = {1600, 900}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.333333373; Interface { resolution = {1600, 900}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.333333373; } Simulation { resolution = {1600, 900}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.77; } AVI { resolution = {640, 480}; fullscreen = 0; aspect = 1.3333; I only changed the simulation values and left the rest default Then to change the Su25T default zoom you have to edit snapviews.lua in the views folder Snap[4][13]["viewAngle"] = 118.663398742676 Snap[4][13]["vAngle"] = -20.382137298584 Snap[4][13]["hAngle"] = 0 the 4 refers to 25T and 13 is the default Fov, I also changed the defalult vertical angle to centre the view. I haven't changed any of the other fovs or angles for the other snapviews as I use TrackIr.

Don't Walk...Run Away from the G940
Scarecrow replied to ericinexile's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My R1 and R2 aren't showing any spiking with throttle movement in controller properties, I would assume that there is some kind of fault with the throttle unit -
Totally awsome piece of work gives FC 1.12 a new life thankyou very much

Logitech G940, trim FFB work or not?
Scarecrow replied to jk9's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah I really wish an ED rep would state wether or not ED are planning to implement FFB for the G940 since they are still working on the sim this shouldn't be a problem to update FFB lock. -
LOFC 2.0 Force Feedback Implementation
Scarecrow replied to Scarecrow's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well all I would really like to see is centre spring/return forces for the G940 for small stick deflection. In FC 1.12 the stick moves to refelct the aircrafts trim state but there is an area roung the stick centre point that has zero resistance to movement something ED should be able to program out if they want to according to Logitech_Mark (G940 project head). I know Logitech are keen to help devs incorperate modern FFB effects in their sims so I was wondering if updated FFB effects is something that ED intend to improve within FC 2.0. I don't want any hollywood effects I would just like just proper stick centering data for the G940 to use. -
