I got crashes with the same error. Deleting Temp folder did nothing. Also in my dcs.log it says:

I just installed an Amazon Basics 7 port USB 3.1 hub which comes with a power adapter and the problem is fixed. No more plugging in/out when I want to use the Rift S.
-
Interesting ricktoberfest. By the way, I already used the same mainboard type a few months ago and didn't have this problem back then.

Thanks for your answer dburne. Sadly I already tried your suggestions and only have a 2070 Super without USB C. I just ordered a powered USB-3 hub. Hopefully this will fix the problem, at least I won't have to climb behind the computer to plug/unplug the Rift S. Anyway, if someone encountered this before please let me know how you handled it.

Hey, I built a system with a 9600k @ 4.7ghz and a 2070 Super today. I decided against a 2080ti to save ~700€. Just started to test it out with my Rift S. So far I agree with the former posts as the system is gpu limited. I actually had an equal system with a 2080ti some months ago. I played with 2xMSAA and a pixel density of 1.8 . Right now I am playing with the same settings only that I decreased the pixel density to 1.5 and am pretty happy with the performance so far.

Just installed a Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X mainboard and some more new hardware today. When I first plugged in the Rift S into the USB3 port everything was fine. When I restart the computer now Windows is showing me "unknown device (port reset failed)" in the device manager though and I have to unplug and plug it in again to use it. Did anyone else encounter this behavior before? I spend hours on Google trying to find a solution, tried to change Windows power settings, made sure that the Rift cable was plugged in on both sides, tried all USB3 ports, and reinstalled my drivers but had no luck so far. Any help is much appreciated .

Moved this post to the Rift S discussion thread.

Okay, my experience in stable is almost identical to current beta. This means my problems are probably related to the old cpu and ram I am using. 9600k and 3200Mhz DDR4 should arrive this week and should fix it.
-
I think this is the correct advice, you should try the 2.5.5 stable version first before tinkering with all kinds of different setting combinations. A lot of us have stuttering and fps issues with the current 2.5.6 beta.
-
I am playing 2.5.6 with a 4670k at 4ghz, a 2070 Super and 20Gb DDR3 right now. My fps are solid if I don't turn my head. As soon as I do that, my fps drop significantly for a second until going back up again causing intense stuttering. Even when I turn every setting to it's lowest level I get the same results. With my Rift S the fps drop from solid 80 to around ~45 and then back up again. Same without the Rift S on a full hd monitor, fps dropping from 170 to ~100 and back up again. This behaviour also doesn't settle after a while but is persisting. Windows Performance Monitor shows constant full utilization of all four cores. Mind you, this is with every setting at it's lowest. Something is clearly going wrong here. Might have to download stable to check if I have the same cpu usage problems there. Edit: @Aluminium Donkey: What does your CPU utilization look like?

Hey everyone, I am selling my Oculus Rift S. I bought it on the 18th of June this year from a German online shop for 449€. It comes with the two touch controllers and is fully functional. My price: 350€ including shipping costs. I am shipping within EU only. Drop me a line if you're interested. Kind Regards, Migo

Thinking of upgrading from 3930k to 9900k - advice please!
Migo replied to obious's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I went from a 4670k@4Ghz to a 9600k@4.8Ghz and went from slow DDR3 RAM to fast DDR4 and saw a significant fps gain. It jumped from 25 to 40 on a hornet training mission for example and my fps are capped at 40 because of the Rift S. I am quite happy with the upgrade and always flying at max fps so far. May I ask why you want to upgrade to a 9900k instead of a 9600k? You can OC the latter to 5Ghz, too and it's half the price. -
Thank you, I saw that video, but there is nothing being shown about the two connector screws for example, is it?
-
Alright, I just removed the two screws on the base connector and the twisting stopped. Is there a manual for the Warbrd base somewhere? I couldn't find it.
-
Just got my Warbrd base today and installed the TM Warthog grip on it. Now I can twist the grip a little and am wondering if it should be like that. Would removing the two screws at the connector stop the grip from twisting?

-
PD 1.8 2xMSAA Constant 40fps and very happy.

I bought the graphics card on eBay a month ago for 230€ and used it until I got my 2080 ti.
