  1. That poor Warthog.
  2. Something I've noticed is that if you descend a bit before the merge he will go into a diving loop, and if you merge above him he will do a climbing loop. I tried dipping down slightly early, and when he committed to a dive I went vertical and waited with a higher energy potential for him to bleed his airspeed at the top of his next yo-yo. If you're above him when he's at the top of his loop and you have smash and he doesn't, you can get behind him and follow him down for the kill.
  3. Clearly it's a bug. The briefing shows those waypoints but they're not programmed in the INS. Someone forgot to add them is all. Easy to do yourself using F10 and Jester, but the mission will probably be fixed in the future.
  4. As others said the mission is bugged, but you can set your own IP and target waypoints using the F10 map and importing it into the INS using Jester. You can do this while on the boat after the INS is aligned. Takes just a minute or two.
  5. You want to take out "hollywood sfx" cues for afterburner due to realism, but replace it with an afterburner button that doesn't exist in the real jet? What?
  6. Why is this automatically marked as [NOT REALISTIC] in all caps? Realistically, we could feel when the jet goes into afterburner if we were actually flying it. Since we're sitting in an office chair and have no physical sensory perception linked to the jet, having an audio cue would help those that don't have any detents. Just blindly using the "realism" label is premature and needs to be thought over.
  7. It's early access, which means it's not a fully complete product. It hasn't even been a week yet. Chill out.
  8. I agree. I couldn't find anything on the symbology for the various MFD displays. I suppose they will release a more complete manual in the future?
  9. I would have thought TWS would be in the jet by now. Being able to engage multiple bandits at the same time should have been a release goal in my opinion. I know it's been stated that it's coming after the HARM stuff is done, but this is taking a while. I would have traded in data link, the SA page, and the HARM just to get TWS first, but that's just me.
  10. Best of both worlds.
  11. The RWR volume knob keybind (increase/decrease) correctly moves it through its range of motion, but pressing the increase key for the SW volume puts it at 100%, and pressing decrease puts it at 0%. You can't choose a volume anywhere in the middle, except if you grab it with the mouse and adjust it that way.
  12. Also experiencing this. I'm surprised there hasn't been any official response at least acknowledging this. Binding a device axis is pretty crucial to using DCS.
  13. Have you tried the manual? There's a whole section on Jester.
  14. Has anyone else tried this instant action scenario? Did it work like in the video?
  15. I watched Jabber's video of him running the same mission here -> At about 3:08 his diamond disappears and he starts launching his rockets. When I do the mission, my diamond never goes away. I launched my own rockets at about the same distance, but all my rockets went high above the cross hairs and none hit the target. What am I doing wrong?
  16. It always seems to be the same page. I was flipping forward (I think twice from the default kneeboard page) until you get to the page with the stencil outline of the jet, and from there the whole sim crashes. I've replicated this multiple times. Crash log attached. dcs_log.zip
  17. Poor F-18. He never got to grow up.
  18. Being able to change the HSI range on the HOTAS itself isn't an overly complicated operation in my opinion, and that's just a simple example of things that I think could be on the HOTAS but isn't. Another is the jammer. You have to be in a specific DDI page, and then hit a specific button to get the jammer to work.....to me that seems overly complicated. Of course, there's nothing stopping anyone from mapping whatever you want to your own HOTAS. I've filled in things that aren't normally on a real F-18 HOTAS since I have more buttons and switches with my X-56 then a real HOTAS actually has. With shift states you can fit even more. In the end we have more control over what goes on the HOTAS then the real pilots who fly the jets, so I don't think it's a huge deal (but having context sensitive logic for things like the castle switch would make life easier in some areas). Just my 2 cents.
  19. Dang that's awesome. Thanks.
  20. Not to take anything away from raising money for natural disaster victims (which is a great cause), but former F-18 pilot Vincent "Jello" Aiello already did just this on an episode of the Fighter Pilot Podcast when he interviewed Matt Wagner in his home. Matt let him fly his home setup, and Jello claimed it was something like 98.2% accurate (can't remember the exact figure or quote). The podcast episode is free to listen to. https://www.fighterpilotpodcast.com/ Not trying to take anything away from C.W. Lemoine either. I think he's a great guy and a fantastic pilot, plus a very good author. I own some of his Spectre series novels. Just throwing it out there that a former real F-18 pilot already put the DCS module to the test, and it's available for all to listen to.
  21. Let people post what they want to post, and the appointed forum moderators will sort out what doesn't belong. We don't need posts like this or people being pseudo hall monitors. Never works out.
  22. Happened to me today. I was messing around rapidly changing ACM sub modes, and after locking I had no tone from the seeker. Trigger did nothing, or the cage/uncage key. Felt like a bug.
