Setting Up TM Cougar Throttle Radar Cursor in DCS??
msmith301 replied to msmith301's topic in Thrustmaster
Im not sure what program you're using but I see what your saying. As I said before I never loaded anything up when I started using my old Cougar HOTAS controllers on DCS the game just automatically recognized them. -
Setting Up TM Cougar Throttle Radar Cursor in DCS??
msmith301 replied to msmith301's topic in Thrustmaster
I can't calibrate them in DCS because it won't recognize the control when I try to assign it to the "designate target" controls. I don't have T.A.R.G.E.T. set up for my controllers because DCS has always recognized them. Also I don't see any radar cursor assignments in the "Axis Commands" section. -
For some reason when I try to setup the radar cursor knob on my Cougar Throttle to emulate real life I can't get DCS to recognize the control or hat when I move it around. But if I push in on it to "lock" to target as it's meant to do it gives me button 29. However I can pair up any other hat on my target designator left, right, up and down and it recognized the control movement and allow me to attach it. But when I move what should be the real life radar cursor around the game doesn't recognize it's movements. Can anybody tell me why this is happening? Thanks.

Does T.A.R.G.E.T Software Enhance DCS Enough to Use?
msmith301 replied to Flightsmmr's topic in Thrustmaster
So you you set up your mapping functions in T.A.R.G.E.T. or in the DCS controls profile or both? Has there been anything with T.A.R.G.E.T. conflicting with DCS controls setup? -
The TUSBA and the RUSBA are adapters that are only used when you upgrade your Cougar joystick to use the Lighting base or if you upgrade to the Virpil Warbird base. Because they are both USB only without the throttle or rudder connectors on the base the TUSBA and RUSBA adapters would allow you to keep using the older throttle and rudders such I have right now. But if you are using the older Cougar base as I still am then I don't see any advantage to using them. I guess you could use them if you wanted DCS to recognize each controller as a separate entity like it does with some of the other controller setups but I like all my commands being in the same column. I may purchase the set eventually so when the day comes when I upgrade my joystick base when my gimbals break again as I'm sure they will I will have what I need to keep my throttle and rudder pedals. I love the original true to design F16 throttle and the Elite rudder pedals that I still use have been going strong for 20 years with no sign of letting up. These things are a beast!!

How do you get the radars and MDFs to show up as a separate screen. In the game it is part of the overall cockpit but I've never seen anything that will let up pull it up as a separate window on your monitor.

You can also go to Thrustmaster's site and download the "Target" software that's been developed for the older controllers like ours. Haven't installed it yet because DCS recognizes all of my control request so far. Don't want to sabotage myself.

Seperate Monitor for Manuals, Totorials, Maps, Ect....

I saw it, unfortunately it wasn't in English so I couldn't understand what most of it was saying. -
Seperate Monitor for Manuals, Totorials, Maps, Ect....
msmith301 replied to msmith301's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
No actually I want to hook up a second smaller monitor to same laptop and have the second monitor sitting off to the side of my larger one for following along with tutorials and reading flight manuals for different planes. Some of these manuals are huge. I don't want to print them and it would be easier to follow along with a smaller monitor on the side. I could always get a large tablet but very expensive and I already have the additional monitors. -
While you trimmed it to solve the problem it could also be that your axis alignment is out. If you go into roll axis alignment in your controls setup you might find that if the little red box which represents your joystick center is not right on the line then you need to click on that and move it over the line. Saw this on one of the Reaper's tutorial videos for control setup. Believe it was for the F-16.

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
msmith301 replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
Basically MFDs work in a step proceedure. You first go thru the main menu switch at the bottom until you get the screen you want. Be it the SMS (Stores Management System) RWR, TWS screen or I was watching a very good tutorial recently by the Grim Reapers about setting up the Harpoon ship killer missile using the MFD. In that you had to get to the SMS page select your harpoon and then go thru the process of setting up the different settings using the MFD. In this tutorial they were using the Hornet which has mouse capable cockpit controls however if you wanted to set up your own MFDs or use it for the F-15C which does not have mouse capable cockpit controls but only keyboard and joystick controls could you do it or are they not capable of having different functions for the outer buttons based on what page you cockpit MFD has up? If I have the TWS screen up and was using the outside buttons it would perform different actions than having SMS page up and using the same MFD buttons. Hope I explained it better.- 2261 replies

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
msmith301 replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
This might have been asked but considering how huge this thread is I need to ask because I'm considering purchasing the TM MFD setup for my Cougar HOTAS setup. When you use the rocker switches in the corners to change the screen layout for the MFDs does that also change the designation of the buttons in between? Such as when your stepping thru a menu...press 1 then press 4 then press 2 ect.... Or can you only script those buttons to one named key? Some of the outside switches actually bring the screen back to its main menu but what about the buttons that change what they do as you change the menu?- 2261 replies

Are there any plans to edit any of the cockpit labeling to English? Or do I have to start learning basis Russian..lol. Once you download the aircraft is there a manual in the Doc folder that shows you what's what..other than the basic instruments of course?
-
To start I already purchased separately the F-15C and The A-10A. I also own the F/A-18 and the F-16C. Got them all when they were half price. I have been looking at FC3 so I can get all of the Russian planes I would like to try out all together and rather cheaply right now ($24.95) I might add. however does this mean that buying them in a bundle means they are "dumb'ed down"? I have been reading a section of post in here concerning none clickable cockpits, I'm assuming this means that not as many controls are available. Also seen a post saying the exterior graphics such as vapor trails and such aren't available in the FC3 versions either. I am mostly interested in the Mig-29, SU-27 and SU-33 variants to fly. Right now I can by all of them for 50% off. Which would I be better doing? Which would give me the most content?

PM me with a cost please.

From what I'm seeing on their homepage the RSSB3 lighting is the entire base and control board without the actual control stick attached. Is the RSSB3 Lighting compatible with the Cougar HOTAS joystick? I know the stick can be attached to the Virpil Warbird base but what about the RSSB3 Lighting?
-
I personally have always had the stick on the side whether I'm using it for older WW2 planes or modern planes. What is the reason they are still putting control sticks in the center such as the Hornet? It seams so much more comfortable on the side. Not only at my desk but I could imagine having to always keep your right arm reached around to the center control stick must get tiring. With the side stick you just rest your arm on the side with your hand on the stick. Also leaves you a lot more visual room for instruments in the center. Both the F-15C and the F-16 came out around the same time. (The F-16 was so they could have a cheaper alternative to the F-15C which was costing around 30 million a piece at the time.) But their control sticks are different.

I didn't realize that you could adapt the R3 to the Cougar base. I would love to set this up for using with my modern fighters in DCS...F/A-18C Hornet, F-18C Viper and F-15C Eagle. As well as any others I might add to my collection. Been thinking of the MIg-29 or Mig-35 only because of their low cost in the game. Is it possible to keep multiple joysticks set up within the same game such as DCS. I have the older Cougar HOTAS original but just bought the Virpil Warbird base for the joystick where I can take my Cougar joystick off and put it on the Warbird. However the Warbird is still a spring base the same as Thrustmaster but could probably take a lot more yanking and cranking then the TM ever could. I Could I keep the warbird set up for flying older planes in DCS and put the R3 which is still available on the older cougar base for my modern fighters. Just a thought.
-
R2 or R3. I'm understanding the R3 is only for the Warthog sick base.
-
So much for that. They just bumped it up another $10.00. No longer 50% off. I'll wait.

Most games or apps have some kind of release date. Especially when they ask for pre-purchasing. Is there any kind of release date for this? I recently purchased the F/A18-C Hornet and want to get the carrier mod for the whole immersion. I would really like to get it at the half off price they have it for now. If it's not already out what are the videos that are running around YT showing carrier landings in DCS?

Was wondering when I switch out my Thrustmaster Cougar joystick to my Virpil Warbird base do I have do download separate software for it. I know I will be using my older TM cougar throttle and elite rudder pedals thru the older cougar control base for the meantime but I was wondering what I needed to do to set up the joystick to work in conjunction with the other controllers.

Can the Z axis be slaved to one of your flight controls? I move around a lot in my chair but I want my view of the cockpit to be the same except when I'm trying to see an instrument cluster or the HUD. I have the older Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS and I want to slave to zoom axis to one of the round rotating knobs on the throttle control that way I can zoom in and back out again instantly while I am flying or I can zoom in partially to the HUD when in a fight. Don't like the way the track IR zoom sometimes paste your face right against the HUD. want to adjust it little by little using the the rotating knobs.
