IMO, that problem needs more attention than overuse of ECM. For the life of me, I just don't understand why anyone would lock up a non-jamming friendly, and hold it for three freaking minutes until they pass you. :chair:
Besides JDAMs, it's got SDBs.
Before it sees action, all this thread can be is theory and conjecture. And I don't see it facing any top notch competition in the near future to give a realistic showing of its capabilities. USAF exercises show great things, but until there's life and death on the line, we just won't know for sure.
That applied to the original CDDS files, but even with the additonal CDDS capability, the original texture still loads. So you're still using more resources than if you use only the original CDDS files.
If you must use higher res files than what's in the original CDDS files, a new CDDS file is the best way to accomplish it. But, don't think it is a magic wand that won't use more memory. Even more than the difference between the low and high res files. But with the mipmapping of the new CDDS file (thanks, Teka), it's better for FPS than just putting the high res file in temptextures.
Back in LO 1.0x it was different. The game loaded the default ccds files and if a new texture was in there, you saw it with no additional textures having to load. TempTexture files loaded on top of the original textures out of the original CDDS files and used more resources plus lacked mipmapping. Now it will load the default cdds files AND a new cdds file. So you won't use the same resources as using only the default CDDS files, you'll use more. If the new CDDS files have mipmapping, then there should be some help with fps due to not having to render the full texture all the time.
Do we know if the CDDS tool builds mipmaps?
ECM will decrease the launch range of certain SAMs so that you can get into your launch range. That is a valid reason to use it.
Re: warnings, check your user CP
Who wants to join a server, sit and watch a blank radar screen, wait, wait some more, get a bandit, fire, then wait some more? If someone does, it would be cool to face human controlled SAMs, but how boring and lifeless can you get?
You might want to rethink that. ECM is very useful for a mudmover and radar SAM shots give a warning and ECM only disrupts until burnthrough is achieved. The reality of burnthrough is not modelled in LOMAC.
That being said, if there are no radar SAM threats at the target area, jamming could be considered detremental and a big ol' "come kill me" beacon.
A mod. It's a Hog in Goblin clothing.
GOZR, if we could reduce thrust or add weight, then we could add thrust and reduce weight. And cheating would be rampant. So, no.
Watching the track isn't his problem. He can't get external views to work with tracks recorded online and then enabling external views with LOTU. He gets externals if the mission has externals enabled to begin with. The edits done by LOTU are not the problem, because I could use the externals on his e-mailed track file. It's very strange.
The mains are used on take-off so that if there's trouble, the externals can be jettisoned and you won't flame out without adding the step of switching fuel source during whatever you have to do during the trouble to get things under control. This was SOP even back during WWII in a P-38 training film I saw. Once the P-38 was up and both engines were deemed fine, flaps and gear were raised and then the fuel selector was switched to externals.
Whick tanks are being used is selectable in RL, right?
Can anyone confirm that LOMAC used to model the outside tanks being used before the centerline tank? GG? I know you're big on fuel management.
I'm resurrecting this old thread to bring up something that I noticed a couple of days ago. The LOMAC F-15 uses fuel from all 3 externals at the same time. Although you can drop the outboard tanks first, they are not used first. I was told that this is not how this used to be modelled. The LOMAC 15 used to use the fuel in the outboard tanks before using fuel from the center tank and this was changed. Can someone confirm this?
The only changes that can be made with these tools are cosmetic. Gameplay won't change at all. And gameplay is what needs the most attention. That being said, there are a few things that need a facelift and there may be some fun in adding a model of something crazy.
