  1. From what I have learned, the undesignated function dropping all co-ords is realistic and to save points from TGP as markpoints is the more realistic way of doing this type of task. Yes it seems a more impractical method of rippling 4 or 8 JDAMs but it would seem that doing this from an F18 is itself pretty unrealistic and if such a task was ever required then another platform would carry this out (B1? B52? etc etc) JDAMs on hornets are mostly used in much lower numbers in either PP or TOO mode. It can do a big ripple, but the system isn't actually designed for it..
  2. Scenery remove zone has worked for me taking out light poles and central barriers. Keeps the road in. I've only done this for single player so I don't know how it translates to MP. I have civilian traffic on high and I didn't see any on this road... I didn't actually think about it then but maybe the scenery remove makes them disappear on contact with the zone? I have also placed objects from the ME in the zone and these do remain so you can build a complete base if you wish. The newer modifiable trigger zones also keep the scenery removal to a better area now as previously I had to use large circles which take out much more than I wanted.
  3. Yeah you really need to pre plan these before the mission and even worse there is no kneeboard editor for quickly making them available in the ME. I really hope they will change this at it seems a massive oversight and compared to most of the stuff ED do, seems a simple change?
  4. That actually was on the patch notes... Air flow over canopy sound has been improved.
  5. Wow. What a team. This is really going to be something.... This is one hell of a hype train.
  6. Ahhhhh. Yes it does. Thanks!
  7. Er you got me there. Yes they do. You could say....checkmate....
  8. I think the desire for ultimate stealth is pushing all new fighters to look similar. F35, F22, su-57, This "checkmate", the concept tempest (UK) and some Chinese ones I don't know the name of. They have differences for sure, this checkmate is more of a delta wing etc etc, but the similarity is not down to lack of aesthetic design. Its not a car...
  9. New aircraft joining with lower fuel state I think. Or other types that need different groove time.
  10. Recently I did a full re-install of DCS, including allowing it to generate a new saved games file. Before I did this I did take a copy of my previous saved games so that I could retrieve things if and when I needed them. I would like to know if its possible to retrieve my paid DLC campaign progress across a few campaigns so that I can continue this on from where I left and have the completed ones still showing complete. Does anyone know if this is possible? Many Thanks
  11. No wags said coming later. No patch notes yet.
  12. Car parking would be a nightmare...
  13. Yeah the old oculus headsets are a great first choice for new VR users and work on older hardware very well. It's just most people spin the whole "resolution is not there yet" line - proof to me they have never tried it.... Lol. Pancake mode. Makes me chuckle every time.
  14. Well said and I agree. I don't envy ED making sense of what can be classed as running well given that there are so many variables with how these products are used on any hardware. So this is why we must have the early access periods. We haven't even seen the next OB update since this came out. I personally find the new map playable in VR. I'm currently using a low-populated, SP causal fly around. Yes there are fps sinks, but I was expecting way worse. Channel map was much worse for me at release and it improved. I expect Marianas to be the same.
  15. No. I don't see any signatures.
  16. The biggest and fastest you can afford.
  17. That does sound a big reduction, assuming that you are fully on top of all the usual PC housekeeping. With CPU usage, check per core rather than overall. DCS is single core heavy.
  18. We can't expect all maps to run the same. They have come over over widely different times and, as with the aircraft, the bar get raised higher each time and therefore the demand gets raised higher each time. New GPUs come out every 2-3 years and the highest settings will only be accessible to a full compliment of top tier hardware and even then its not advisable to run everything at top values. I guess if ED want to help all users then perhaps having graphics pre-sets available per map which auto load might be helpful. That way we can tune more specifically for each generation of map. "would prefer not to have to reduce things like shadows and reflections in order to play the more detailed maps such as Marianas" - this probably sums up a lot of the problems that people are experiencing with the newer maps and features. They just don't want to turn settings down. I get it completely! Its a very negative thing to have to do, but as with all sims I have used. They get better, as my hardware gets older, and the gap gets bigger.
  19. I hope it's still being worked on, I'm sure it will come out when it's ready. If I'm doing a night flight I disable it so the lights work properly. Night is better on fps anyway! - bit of a faff but hopefully temporary.
  20. Reading that it seems likely that rebar was locked down by Nvidia on this last driver. Oh well looks like I won't be able to update it for quite a while. Hmm.
  21. This is my concern. Well I guess I can stick with the driver I have now for a while at least.... Considering this loop hole did/does exist maybe it's not too difficult for ED to incorporate it properly in a future engine update.
  22. Tuning tips. Tune to a simple recorded trackfile, maybe some low flying over trees and buildings, possibly a take off. Add a few clouds. Keep it the same and you can see what's happening. Keep DCS settings low initially, work on settings outside DCS first then tune DCS last. You will likely need to refine things at later stage. Its a process, and a pain. Try to change just one or two things at a time so you really understand what they are doing.
  23. The proper way is to measure frametimes... However I have a Syria F16 Incirlik take off and low city flight as trackfile which I do all my tuning to. With rebar disabled I get continuous ground stutters when looking down, with it enabled its almost clean. I have run a few tests enabled and disabled and its completely repeatable every time. This is all VR btw.
  24. Ha Ha! Good tip! Thanks for the location pointer. I have got the birds slider up to max and as yet to experience a virtual bird strike/engine out despite all those low level runs over coastlines. See if its different here...
