  1. I've noticed more perf hit on the overcast and rain preset over the lesser ones. Makes sense I guess but didn't see this before.

  3. Hmm. Well likely to be very subjective, I love VR but I'm prepared to admit that everything looks sharper and cleaner in 2D so the clouds are in line with that too. I see the same thing in other VR games with feature clouds. Until we have much higher res headsets and much higher power computers, then it will look like real life and run butter smooth. I'll check your track but can't do it until tomorrow eve. I would have thought both. It's the same clouds And same game. It was just really bad in VR and mostly us VR users asking for the fix.
  4. Cloud jitter seems to be fixed completely for me in VR, resolution and contrast improved too. Yes this does come with a performance hit, not surprising. I am on top end system with very high settings, I can run ultra until I try the heavy overcast rain presets and then its a too much at the moment. Dropping down to high runs much better, but some additional aliasing visible on distant clouds. Ah aliasing, the bug bear of all VR applications..... one day it will be gone (kinda like screendoor) I'm running on high for now as I really want to use some of the larger formations, although I've not seen any of these in MP so may go up to ultra for this. I also dropped SSAO as this helped reduce a little stutter for me. So I can now fly with low cloud formations around the mountains, this looks stunning! I always found the jitter terrible when they were directly next to still objects like this, so I avoided it. Snowy sunset Caucasus with low cloud.... wow! I've also noticed that the landing lights are no longer super crazy bright (at least in F18 and F16) thanks for this!! I was waiting for this to be fixed and very pleased with how this looks now. All in - a great patch for me especially considering it only had four notes!!. I think those with lower end systems will see an improvement in detail on medium. Thanks ED!!

    Lots of flying things are easier. Some compromises with game interaction (got to get away from the keyboard). All in, best thing ever! Has anyone seen anymore news on this project recently? I really like this aircraft and eagerly waiting, however razbam don't seem to have it on the same level as some of those other projects which suggests it could be over five years away.... I wonder where the rest of DCS will be then?

  8. Yeah I just saw that go up. I presume a hotfix, given the short date. Perhaps getting things ready for a bigger patch soon.
  9. I never have them switched on mostly due to them getting in the way. Even in cruise I like to scan around and make sure everything is when it should be. Having read some of the passion that people have for them here i may try it again and see how it goes. Can say I've ever missed it though. Back when I was on track or I used to always hide control sticks. I never do that now. Always prefer to have it. As for the hind seat removal? That's for 2D only. VR users will just move their head as the pilot would.

  11. I wonder if anyone can help guide me with some viacom and SRS questions. I'm a VR user and love Viacom so don't want to stop using it if I can avoid it. I have read the manuals and guidance for both however I am struggling to understand best settings, or what others find works best. I am just testing in my main go-to airframe F18 until I feel confident with it. I don't want others to hear me talking to AI on MP servers so I have used the dynamic switching option however I think what ever I do it seems to just go straight to SRS. I hear the TX node noise also the SRS transmit noise. For example when I am on the ground and tune the airfield comms I can't then ask for ground crew as it wants to transmit this across SRS. Even if I do that anyway I hear the recognition beep and then nothing comes up? I am confused about what is the most appropriate dynamic switch options, Auto switch/ignore select/hold AI transmission. I have all three on these on as seems to be indicated in the manual is this best practice. Any help/advice welcome.
  12. Yes I am. Considering that this will effectively be a final product and will be in the same space as other titles. There are many bugs yes, some will surely make it through to stable thats the way things go. There are bugs in all software, however for something so visual and hyped they just cannot make it final as it is. As for the VR in one eye thing, I'm sure that has been worked on for a while. This could be the shared parser mode which we can use now. To me this shows great promise for the future, but its not finished yet. Its complicated stuff, I'm sure.

  14. Yeah, its a shame but they are assuring that its high priority and being worked on. As they recently said they are working to a 2.7 stable release - it cant be too far away.

  16. Yes but last newsletter said they were working to a stable 2.7 release, so while it might not be fixed tomorrow it's in the pipeline soon. As the full "proper" version of DCS won't have wobbly clouds...will it...
  17. Rebar isn't supported in DCS but some clever people worked out how to enable it and it makes a nice difference in VR. Maybe the same for this.... #wishfulthinking
  18. I've had bit of trouble integrating SRS and viacom. I've been enjoying viacom in SP for ages and now I am trying to get into MP I have had to ditch it. Mostly for carrier and tanking. I've not got on with the auto switching options and have read about people separating the two out using different hotas buttons. This is what I am trying out but makes things a little complicated. Using my warthog I have forward/back comm 1/2 for viacom and comm 1/2 for srs, but srs ptt is centre only. This sort of works but some servers seem to force SRS ppt buttons (so I thought) and my viacom panel preference seems to never save my settings anymore. I unchecked import f10 but every time I start it seems to try and suck in hundreds of things from the servers. As I never update the profile these are not stored, but annoying anyway. I just wish ED would properly integrate an AI/human comms system as for me this is the worst part of crossing over into MP as a VR user. Anyone got an best practice tips?
  19. Ah yeah. Makes total sense. My experience is bias to my 9th gen. But yes the 10 and 11 have that 5.3 single core super dooper turbo. Always thought that was a bit of a gimmick to be honest....
  20. Interesting.. I'm definitely no expert.. I had thought that MCE was an all core boost that would keep all cores and threads at the highest single core clocks possible (to boost value) regardless of power saving limits, until it gets too hot. This should give highest possible single and multicore performance. You are saying that it reduces single performance for the greater benefit? By reducing clocks? Like I said I'm no expert so happy to learn if I had the wrong idea.
  21. Matches my experience. I overclocked my i9 9900 to a cool and stable 5.2 with HT off and disabled enhancements. I also have this with no AVX offset too. My CPU scores a little better on single thread scores, worse on multicore benches - but its tuned for my uses.
