Yeah it is, should have mentioned that! I did a lot of looking and searching for RAM. Its Kington Fury Beast. Just could not get any Gskill over here and the only other kingston was renegade which says XMP only. Didn't want to risk it.. seen the jaystwocent video... -

Intresting, I will be trying this once I get my system built. I have my 7800X3D right here already, no case to build it in. Very annoying thing to be out of stock. Best RAM I could get was 6000Mhz C36 so hoping I can tune it a bit although I have seen some videos that say that ram timings are not that important with x3ds. I never knew if buildzoids process would work on a 64 gig kit, thanks for sharing. -

Presumably if you just want everything then you would keep the current version? -

Memory issues aside your testing sounds like it is an improvement. CPU frametimes are half, but yes while you are in the low single digits zone it's not going to be all that visible. Considering the 7700X is virtually the same cores, the gain must be all vcache. would be great to get some metrics of you have them. Your testing might be the most important yet! I should have my 7800X3D next week hopefully, Its a complete new build aside from GPU so waiting for a few other parts before I can test. Coming from a i9 9900KS I expect gains... -

Quite interesting but very hard to see any detail. The 7800X3D performs well, but I wish there was some frametime information. At some point soon I'll be able to post my own tests but coming from a i9 9900KS there won't be much comparison.... -

Well done! Here in UK none seem to be in stock right from the first go. I was F5ing on all major retailers. One retailer says they will have them mid to end of April and I have placed a preorder so should be in first batch. Others just say - Nuh -

Yes, thats the theory but from what I can understand (I could be wrong), workloads switch cores all the time and as quite a few games are still pretty much single threaded the scheduler does quite a good job at keeping them on the side they are supposed to be. DCS now using two full threads and a third for audio has more to contain and if the other cores are not parked then they may end up getting used. The latency penalty for going across two CCD's is real in some games, which is why the 7700X has done so well in places. This applies to those games that are also single threaded. Unsure if DCS reacts like this but when I consider than I now use MT DCS and a VR application, and other side apps, there is quite a bit and I would prefer just to keep everything on the one CCD. If that CCD has eight cores and sixteen threads, all good. -

I probably would have bought a 7950X3D by now if they had been available, but I will be trying for a 7800X3D. Personally I think that unless you really need all the cores the dual CCD chips just don't seem worth it for DCS. I would have bought a 7950X3D out of impatience and would almost certainly disable the second CCD until the scheduler gets a bit better. From what I can read multicore DCS spreads workloads around and the scheduler struggles to park the non vcache cores therefore keeping them open for use. This will almost certainly be worse with the 7900X3D as with less cores it will have an even harder job of parking the second CDD. I haven't bought this despite it being discounted now, I think AMD will undership others to keep this the most available chip. There is also a bit of a latency penalty of going across two CCDs which is why I just want to use one. As I am coming up from a much older intel CPU I have lots to gain in any direction so if I fail to get a 7800X3D I will just get a 7700X and have a little cry that I could of done this months ago... I will then decide down the line if its worth upgrading to the X3D or go back in the waiting line for the new thing... In short, the 7900X3D or 7900X isn't on my list... -

I hadn't got round to testing this, as I didn't quite believe that this option would work like it says it does..... As I hadn't heard of anyone jumping into PvP as an immortal, game flight, unlimited weapons and fuel I sort of assumed it wasn't working like that. Unsure what the point really is, just for SP campaigns? -
Yes

No, but your old Oculus account maybe a meta account now anyway. I know meta is the new evil corp but most things need an account these days.

Yeah sort of although generally speaking the single CCD ryzens have the advantage of lower latency but also have less cores. Single CCD means the scheduler is not really important either. -

As I am in the same situation I think it's sounding like you can go either way. MT may have made things more difficult to know but I think the result is the same. Seems the 12th and 13th gen intels are having some trouble ensuring it's only p cores than run MT DCS and 79XXX3D are having trouble ensuring it's only the vache cores than run DCS. I am now hedging my bets that the 7800X3D will be the one to get. Good all round and low power too. However I don't think the win will be massive. I have waited so.long for X3D, part of me wishes I had just gone 13th gen. As I now own an X670 board I just gotta be quick on April 6th.... May even end up with a 7700X at this rate. -

Thanks for sharing again. Glad you are still here. It's really making me question if I should pull the 13900k rip cord on my wait. I could just buy a board and chip and get going with my DDR4 ram. Do you have any information on frametimes? Or if you use cap frame X do you have the graphs from the runs. I wonder if there is more consistency that could be seen. Also I have seen on 5800x3d tests that FPS can be the same but CPU frametimes are lower still (than non 3xd parts). Unfortunately capframe X doesn't show separate frametimes but overall would be interesting. -

Yeah, not to run all the time. CapFrameX is brilliant. You should try it, very lightweight and great information. Isn't the monitoring in afterburner just riva? -

Hoirtel replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The graph resolution is being set by the load percentages, way too big for frametimes. On the bottom left where it says Y-axis scale set to 0-40ms, maybe turn off the CPU and GPU load percentages too -

Thanks! If you are into requests... Can you click in the bottom left and change graph to 0-40ms....

Thanks it's always helpful but I think frame times are more helpful to help understand any GPU bound scenarios.

Multithreading VR Benchmark 4090 + 7950x3D
Hoirtel replied to DirtyMike0330's topic in Virtual Reality
Btw, for benchmarking https://www.capframex.com/ is really good. Doesn't seem to record separate CPU/GPU frame times but does get an overall and you can add GPU load etc. -

Really, I had thought this thread said otherwise? Compared to what though? "standard" ryzen CPUs? Is this with non MT version too? From your post - Have I misunderstood?? I think this may be the largest system upgrade jump I've ever taken, and I rarely miss an upgrade in CPU or Graphics generation. (I'll skip the TI variants of each unless I skipped the original) I will still make the video when I get all my peripherals installed and the system overclocked and tuned and stress tested etc.... but here was what I got essentially. My most common fps measure was around 64 fps but it would basically float around 63-73 fps so I'm guessing that would average somewhere in between. I may have witnessed more 63's than 73's so we'll say maybe 66 fps ish. My average 99% fps was higher than the last system's average fps and it never went below 40 fps. I saw as high as 90 fps when things were not as busy and the lowest fps I witnessed was 53 for a second. -

I would be grateful if anyone can help with RAM choice for a new X3D chip - as yet unpurchased but hoping to get a 7800 if I can be quick enough. I have been looking for RAM kits and found some kingston ones that I could get but I am unsure what the best move is between these two: Kingston Beast 64Gb 6000Mhz C36 - Says EXPO and XMP Kingston Vengeance 64Gb 6000Mhz C32 - Only says XMP The vengeance is a little bit more but not so much that its a concern. I am concerned about XMP/EXPO compatibility especially as I now own a Asus X670E Strix F and worried about the memory problems that lots of people seem to be having. I would of course like to avoid that. Neither are quite on the QVL list but the 32gb counterparts are. QVL list seems a bit old. Even cheaper still are 5600Mhz kits at C36 or C40. As I understand these are all likely Hynix and perhaps could go the same speed. I have never overclocked RAM and would may the extra to have a decent setting without having to learn, but its something I will probably look into at some point especially as it seems there is perf to be gained. with Ryzen. Thanks to anyone that can spare some advice. No gains, pre patch with vcache? Have you tried disbaling non vcache CCD entirely? -
reported earlier Kneeboard folder for Syria map PLS

Not really an excuse but I guess they are busy with Normandy 2. Once that's out I would assume Syria will be getting the new lights update and then... Hopefully the kneeboard folder. They really need to get to it.
