  2. Ok, wrong rads, no hook, etc. but this one was fun... Seafire L III, NF547, coded 2D, of No. 885 Squadron Fleet Air Arm, RNAS Lee-on-Solent, June 1944. Flown by Sub/Lt R. Hales. DL here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301731/
  3. Thank you! Something different, LF Mk.IXe "White 14" of No. 101 Squadron, IDF, 1949. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301733/
  4. Thanks very much! New skins above now available for DL, posts updated with links. This one was looonnnnggg overdue for an update, Swedish S.31: Updated to 2.5 standard, and now includes some light weathering - original skin was made before the template was available. DL here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2315044/
  5. Spitfire Mk.IXc MJ986, coded KH-J of No. 403 "Wolf" Squadron, March, 1944. Flown by Norm Chevers of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301687/
  6. Thanks Strut! Two more, first, as shown above, Spitfire SM309, coded AU-H of No. 421 "Red Indian" Squadron, RCAF, early 1945. 2TAF markings include over painted Sky fuselage ID band (partially obliterating the aircraft serial number), Night spinner, and Type III nationality markings in all six positions. Upper markings hastily converted from existing red and blue roundel. SM309 was a Mk.XVIe, with 2 x .50 cal MGs and 2 x 20mm cannons. I have tried to simulate this by painting over the gun tape patches for the .303s to match the existing camo scheme. It begs the question of how hard it would be for DCS to use the Mk.IXc as a starting point to give us a Mk.IXe, with the pointed rudder please! The more Spit variants, the better! :D Flown by Richard "Hap" Beall. 421 nose art decals were supplied by the McColl-Frontenac Oil Company, later acquired by Texaco. Beall added the "Panama Bound" slogan as notice of future intentions at war's end... Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301686/ Mk.IXc MJ832, coded DN-T of No. 416 "Lynx" Squadron, RCAF, based at RAF Station Tangmere, Sussex, UK, circa 1944. Standard Day Fighter scheme, "City of Oshawa" under left side of wind screen honouring the squadron's sponsor. Pouncing lynx nose art. Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301688/ Also, by request, will be making some more generic paint schemes for squad use with custom BORT numbers, including a late war 2TAF scheme, for both full span and clipped wing Spits.
  7. Much Better.... With the painted over gun patches it's almost looking like a Mk.XVIe... almost. SM309 as flown by Richard "Hap" Beall, 1945. Serial partially obliterated by over painted Sky fuselage ID band.
  8. Years ago was flying into LaGuardia, on vectors, heading along the Hudson river before turning for the Expressway Visual approach to 31. Concorde was rolling onto final below us for 13R at JFK, We were doing 250 knots, they were doing whatever they do on final, somewhere below 200 kts... I point out the Concorde below and tell the other pilot “Tonight we can go home and tell everybody that for a brief moment we were flying higher and faster than Concorde” :D
  9. Thanks! I’ll check it out when I get home tonight, have been away all weekend. I’d used uboats’ EDM extractor to look at the descr lua syntax for the CW Spit and I think it was identical to the full span Spit for the BORT number lines.
  10. Bloody amazing! How much of it is 3D printed vs. actual period parts?
  11. +1 I hadn’t really considered the Yak until I saw Reflected’s work, now I’ve got Harvards on the brain. :)
  12. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218274 Bort numbers are working but appear to use the default CW skin textures for the bort areas, regardless of the true/false entry in the description, and regardless if using an empty texture file as a decal.
  13. Working on some clipped wing skins, and have found the same thing happening, is the Bort number syntax the same in the description.lua for the CW Spit? Example: {"SpitfireIX_k", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"SpitfireIX_k", 1 ,"SpitfireIX_NM",false}; {"SpitfireIX_k", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_0", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"NUMBER_L_0", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_0", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_00", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"NUMBER_L_00", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_00", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_000", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"NUMBER_L_000", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_000", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_0", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_0", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_0", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_00", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_00", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_00", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_000", 0 ,"SpitfireIX_DIF",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_000", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC ,"SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_000", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_N", 0, "SpitfireIX_DIF", false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_N", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet", false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_N", DECAL ,"empty",false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_NN", 0, "SpitfireIX_DIF", false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_NN", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "SpitfireIX_DIF_me_roughmet", false}; {"NUMBER_L_F3_NN", DECAL ,"empty",false}; ...etc.
  14. Bort numbers on CW Spits??? Okaaaayyy... Someone already posted a question about the BORT numbers on the Spit IX CW, does anybody know if the BORT lines in the description.lua have a different syntax, nothing I've done seems to stop this from happening: Supposed to say AU-H, SM309 ;) 421 RCAF MK.XVIe, you'll have to imagine the broad chord rudder, and the .50s/20mm armament :)
  15. :wallbash: All RCAF Spitfire skins checked/corrected to ensure Canada can be selected as country in Mission Editor. Sorry for the inconvenience, skins can be downloaded at links in this thread.
  16. AE-W, 402 RCAF, Lorne Cameron A wing mate for Keltie's "Popeye" Spit above, this is BS152, also of No. 402 Squadron, RCAF. Coded AE-W with Death's Head nose art. Flown by F/O Lorne Cameron, from Roland, Manitoba. Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301662/
  17. Aww, crap... I'll get that fixed. EDIT: Not the only one, I'm afraid... Will update all affected skins and re-post. Thanks for the heads up!
  18. EN398, AE-B/Popeye of 402 RCAF Spitfire MK.IXc EN398, coded AE-B, of No. 402 "City of Winnipeg" Squadron, RCAF, based at Kenley aerodrome, UK, March, 1943. Flown by P/O Ian Keltie DFC, of Millet, Alberta. "Popeye" nose art below left hand exhaust stacks. Code letters are believed to have been in Sky, with a Yellow outline. EN398 went on to later fame as the personal aircraft of Johnnie Johnson. Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301659/
  19. 414 RCAF - Fighter Recce Spitfire FRIX MJ351, "Violet-Dorothy", coded S, of No. 414 "Sarnia Imperials" Squadron, RCAF, based at Advanced Landing Ground B90, Petite-Brogel, Belgium, March, 1945. Flown by F/L Ken Lawson of King City, Ontario. Late war paint scheme, including Type III nationality markings in all positions. Fighter Recce Unit badge on both sides of fin. Original aircraft had teardrop shaped fairings around camera windows. Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301651/
  20. Oh yes, just may have to take a bit of artistic license, as RCAF clipped wing Spits were usually Mk.XVIEs, with or without the bubble canopy. ;) I'm concentrating on the Canadian schemes before branching out into other nationalities, as this is obviously a popular aircraft with skinners from all countries :)
  21. Thanks! Always fun to get the history behind the aircraft. MJ627 is alive and well and flying from Biggin Hill as a two seat Spit these days. More RCAF Spits to come.
  22. "Q" for "QUEENIE", 441 RCAF Download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301642/ Spitfire IXc MJ627, coded 9G-Q of No. 441 "Silver Fox" Squadron, RCAF, based at Advanced Landing Ground B70, Belgium, September, 1944. Flown by Sid Bregman from Toronto, Ontario. On September 27, while patrolling the Arnhem area just after Operation Market Garden, 441 Squadron intercepted some 15 Fw-190s and Bf-109s. P/O Sid Bregman was credited with shooting down a Bf109 east of Arnhem while flying MJ627.
