What Home Fries said... It's excellent spatial relations training though ;) I use a "Finder" layer when working on templates with no wireframe available. It's essentially a bunch of coloured squares with letters and numbers on them so when you use it as a skin in the game or model viewer you can read the grid number on whatever part (antenna, etc) you're interested in. It helps with finding smaller parts that are sometimes scattered around the template in the gaps between larger pieces. I can send you what I've got, I've never done anything with man sized objects in game, what's the size of the file you're working on? 512x512, 1024x1024, etc.

Yeah, I should update that one too, given the syntax changes to the serial number borts. I'll be able to look at it in a couple of days.

Yes you were, enjoy :)

By request, a PRU Blue Spitfire, complete with faux camera ports. All over PRU Blue with blue spinner. 30" diameter nationality markings on fuselage and top of wings, with 12" fin flash. Included are code letter and serial number characters, both in medium sea grey, so you can assign any aircraft letter and serial in the mission editor. This Spit skin only uses a single large character for aircraft identification, and a full 5-digit serial. For best results, enter the info like this in the mission editor: For an aircraft marked "J", serial BF273, enter JJJBF273 into the mission editor. For an aircraft marked "Z", serial PL476, enter ZZZPL476, etc. I didn't bother with gun tape as this skin mimics the unarmed Spitfire PR Mk.XI (Your guns will still work ;)). I'm away from home til Thursday afternoon, should be able to get it uploaded by Friday. Ver 2.1 changed how the liveries look with the new lighting effects so let me look over the spec files and make any necessary changes. :) Glad you are enjoying the liveries, I've got some other Spit skins in the works but I'm not going to bother uploading anything until after the model/texture mapping is final and we get an official template to match.

I can upload a generic PRU Blue livery for you, I did Galitzine's Spit IX a while back but never submitted it. See this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2991793&postcount=2

Hahaha... Sir Percy the A-10C pilot?

Yes, zionid is correct. See this post for more info https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3108021&postcount=16

:) Armament Panel progress: Pilot holes remain because I havent yet decided between rotary encoders for some functions or simple bi-direction Momentary On switches. The 4 pilot holes along the top edge are an addition, and will be used for adjusting altimeter setting, Attitude Indicator pitch adjust., etc. Labels to be printed for switch functions... with the proper font ;)
-
First time building anything, keeping it simple... as solder free as possible because I suck at soldering :music_whistling: Planning Bodnar BBI-32 boards for the electronics, just test fitting all the switches right now. Right Forward Panel In place of the voltage rheostat is a switch that replicates the mechanical sight caging lever. Still have to spray the engine master switch guard black. Left Forward Panel A bit more real estate available on the left side so I added some other functions like Emerg Fuel switch, Canopy open/close (the guarded switch top left), Hyd. Press. Ind. switch. Between the jettison buttons is a momentary ON switch which can be selected left and right to control the tank selector knob in game clockwise/anti-clockwise. Maybe in future when I get a bit more daring I'll replace it with a rotary switch ;) Waiting for a landing light switch topper to arrive in the mail... Armament panel is next, and I may expand the project to include left and right side panels.

The Specular Lighting Thread: For Skin Artists
jocko417 replied to -Rudel-'s topic in Liveries/Skinning
It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words... well, video must be worth hundreds of thousands, because you can't really capture the new lighting engine in a picture, you have to see the shine and reflections play over the model in game. Still figuring things out and tweaking: My favourite: You can see the Day-Glo orange wing tip reflected in the aircraft fuselage... P.S. Thanks ED for making the canopy clear again instead of having that blue tint like in 1.5. -
Arrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!

Generic Turkish Skin Went with a generic, no serials version... 141st skin had been done already. Available now. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2671800/

"Bruce" the Moose... 116766 of No. 419 "Moose" Squadron, CFB Cold Lake, Alberta circa 1984. Still very much W.I.P...
-
Hi guys, Pretty sure the swan paint scheme has been done already. I will be releasing the TuAf skins probably tomorrow.
-
Wrap around camo next... 433 Sqdn badge for now but might become 419 Sqdn ;)

Maybe The A-10C owns you! Muahahahaha!

Ok, corrected and updated here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2641764/ Although there is ample photo evidence of CF-5s using the 150 US Gallon drop tanks (in many different pylon/tank paint combos), I haven't been able to find any of the 275 gallon drops. I left them in bare metal finish.
-
Yeah, I've been over that post a billion times, the tanks stopped working for me a while back.
-
Yeesh :wallbash::mad:... sometimes I still amaze myself... wrong tanks, both in screenies and in uploaded file! Will correct as soon as the file becomes available. Should look like this:
-
Long, long overdue... CF-5A "hack job" for the F-5E model. 116757 of No. 434 TACF Sqdn, Canadian Armed Forces, circa 1978. Early 3-colour camo paint scheme. Pilot figure in post unification rifle green flight suit with appropriate patches. CF-5s were in service for over 30 years and saw a lot of paint scheme and markings changes. I'll probably do a couple more liveries once I decide which ones haven't already been done ;). Had to make some adjustments for the model, unfortunately the blisters on rear fuselage are both mapped from single texture, so I made them matte black. Now if I could just get the tip tanks to work... Awaiting approval from ED.

Lol. Was thinking the same thing!

Obutto + Gunfighter Pro pics Gimbal assembly sits below seat height, with seat as close to the assembly as possible, extension still clears seat front but grip is further aft thanks to S shape. This also makes it more comfortable when pushing the stick forward, the straight extension I was using with my WH stick was a bit of a reach when full forward + left. Still organizing my cockpit, nothing plugged in yet. I'm planning to make some button boxes for the sides and front, based on the F-86.
-
My first impressions (Gunfighter Pro with WH Adapter): Amazed at how small the box is. Lots of stuff crammed into it though! Assembled the stick minus the base as I'm center mounting it in an Obutto R3volution cockpit. Stick is exactly the same height assembled as my existing WH with extension, in fact, GF Pro feels better thanks to extension being S-shaped. Not so much of a reach with stick full forward anymore. :) Drilled some new holes in the WH mount I have and the GF base fits well in the same footprint. Ran out of time last night so haven't flown with it yet or even played with the software (this is my first VKB product) but it certainly feels comfortable. Going to install the adapter into the WH grip today. The plastic KG12 grip included is perfectly ok but I can't wait for the metal version!... I think it will really "complete" the Gunfighter once everything is all metal, that and having a few more functions available will be nice. Pics to follow. EDIT: Forgot to mention... BIG thanks to Rainer for stepping up when the NA supplier went off the rails. Your constant comms have been much appreciated. Looking forward to doing more business with you in future
