Getting the same problem since 2.8 Re-arm will change whatever countermeasures we preset on the kneeboard. In the attached screenshot I've set equal flares and chaff, however the re-arm window shows the incorrect countermeasures. Therefore once I re-arm it applies the countermeasures from the re-arm window and ignores the initial kneeboard settings. This is made worse by the fact that the re-arm screen sliders are locked, so we can't work around it.

DiCE: DCS Integrated Countermeasure Editor by Bailey (v6 MAY2023)
TAIPAN_ replied to Bailey's topic in DCS Modding
ED understands there's a bug with IC connecting to the 2nd server in a session will trigger it even if pure scripts is disabled on both servers. Hope they should patch it soon. A few things need patching like the Ka-50 cockpit issues so hotfix is probably on the way. -
Hi AJ, The FLIR at night time has been bugging me alot lately, not being able to switch AMPCDs to night mode and switching between blinding brightness/contrast to go back and forth between seeing targets on the exported MFDs and not blinding my NVGs. Any chance we can get this one fixed in the patches over the next few months? Planning on alot more flying over Christmas holidays Thanks!
-
There are some things that need adjusting, like the Laser Code brightness, and some of the button lights are too bright. The main thing in my opinion is that night mode on the AMPCDs doesn't work for MFD exports, it makes them black out on the external monitor. In day mode the brightness/contrast is way different between the external export and the internal cockpit screens. Not an issue for pure symbology, but for FLIR picture it's a killer - tuning the BRT & CON for the external monitor can make the internal cockpit way too bright and vice versa. Regarding the terrain map on MFD, I didn't know people still use it at night. I usually turn it off even in the day, but it can be dimmed and managed with contrast - that works better if you change the text colour. For the HUD symbology increasing when FLIR is on the HUD, that may be intentional to be visible over the FLIR backdrop. No sure why the MFD exports are so bad, its possible it doesn't use the standard ED code because I noticed Razbam where the only module makers that required users to hit a keybind to export the MFDs (this is now automated in the special settings). There is still some contrast issues with exports for ED modules, but I notice it way worse in the Harrier usually cockpit or external has to be unreadable brightness if you want to see FLIR on the other and vice versa.

[No Bug] EHSD DATA page changes color for no reason
TAIPAN_ replied to Tiger-II's topic in Problems and Bugs
It's always been like this, I never thought it was a bug.. just that data mode has a different colour to EHSD normal mode (as long as it's aligned and in IFA). -
Ka-50 Cautions working very well, thanks! Now I can see cautions for my all my main aircraft I agree with #1, that's been something I've thought would be good for a while since there are usually only 2 panels that I show for 2 tablets. After you tap on a plane, when it pops up with the list of screens you could have a checkbox next to each one that would hide the ones you don't want. Alternatively the pw-dev-script cfg file would be easy too.

Sorry if my posts weren't clear, but the tint is ready sorted I got a good level of darkness in the mod I uploaded. Added an alpha layer to a blank file in paint.net and an extra layer for the top of the glass. The dive lines I removed internally, but still show up in the mirror. Just the last little bit of gunsight reflection. Thanks for trying the Texture2, that was my last idea and I got nothing else lol.. I guess this is as good as we'll get so we will have to life with it. Better to get back to flying
-
@Squiffy I had to remove the F-86F_cpt_L.dds lamp file, it was causing missing textures on the standby compass and cockpit gauge. It may not have been related to the gunsight, as it didn't remove the reflection even when I tried blanking it out. I've made my final tinting that I'm happy with using Paint.Net and updated the mod here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/myfiles/?edit=Y&CODE=3325546 Pretty happy to fly with this version from now on, if only we could get rid of that last piece of lamp reflection in the sight glass...

Thanks, my quoted post was before I found this info and the video. It had worked with some mods, but not where they use different material name to filename. Description.lua is working pretty well in my livery based cockpit, just having trouble editing files. I was trying Gimp and Paint.net but it seems so hard to edit an alpha transparency layer. Maybe easier to just start with the blank file and add a new one. @Squiffy Thanks for the DXTBMP idea, I've downloaded it and it's helping me to view things. I've been able to add back tint to the sight and canopy without having reflections... but there's still that pesky gunsight lamp reflection there and I can't get rid of it even trying to blank out alot of files to rule them out. I did see something interesting in F-86F_Cockpit_Texture2.dds - look at the attached image there is the gunsight lamp embedded right in the middle. That might explain why removing the shadow from the other files never fully got rid of it. However this may be the actual lamp (when looking down on it) and I'm not sure if it's on the glass or not. Worth looking into if you have time & skills, but I'm not talented enough with these tools to edit such a complex DDS file.... run out of ideas how to get rid of the last of the sight reflection. I'll upload my changes to the canopy and sight tint after some final tweaking. One other question - I remember the dive lines from the canopy already, but looking in the mirror they are still there. How to also get rid of dive lines out of the mirror, does the mirror use the external skin instead of the cockpit skin? null
-
Unfortunately it looks like the section on the main canopy reflection is causing the gunsight lamp reflection to stay. This file F-86F_Cockpit_glass.dds has a part that has the reflection. Not sure how to edit that layer/channel, if you've got some skills see if you can remove? Also the gunsight tint looks a little TOO clear when fighting in bright sun that's why the sight doesn't look bright enough. If we can add a little tint back to the F-86F_Cockpit_ILS.dds file but without any reflection it would be perfect.

If you use the mod as a Cockpit livery in Saved Games folder, you can quickly select it in Special Settings->F-86F, then you can do a before and after instant action to compare the glass. Taking screenshots helps. Or you can use the model viewer, but looking at the ground/background through it is important I think. For the Pipper brightness, yes there's a knob I believe it's an axis available to map as well. I mapped my F18 HUD controller to it. If you're using the Radar gunsight, it's a bit off due to ballistics but there's a mod that helps https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3320042/ although some say they made the guns TOO powerful Since you mentioned the F-5, there's a beautiful cockpit mod for that too:

Sounds good, had a sick kid here it's not fun Is your new file aaaF-86F_cpt_L.dds? Can you share a link? Thanks

Attached is the full description.lua for the F-86 cockpit. It looks like I was wrong about the material name (column1). I believe the lines you're looking for are: {"F-86F_cpt_Lamp", DIFFUSE , "f-86f_cpt_l", false}; {"F-86F_cpt_Lamp_SI_R", DIFFUSE , "f-86f_cpt_l", false}; {"F-86F_cpt_Lamp2", DIFFUSE , "f-86f_cpt_l2", false}; Stumbled across this awesome video by @311Gryphon that explains how to get the Description.lua for the cockpit. The Sabre cockpit model is in /mods/aircraft/f-86/cockpit/shape. Make sure you removed the "\bin" from the path when creating a shortcut. Let me know how you go if those entries are related to the gunsight lamp reflection. Also do you know what the "F-86F_Texture_AI_Shadow" (F-86F_AI-Sh.dds) is used for? I've made a small mod https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3325546/ It doesn't remove the gunsight reflection totally, but it is reduced because I'm using the old reflections file from old DCS version. Some other changes made to improve visibility: -Reduced scratches (edited the normal map). -Removed tint from gunsight (thanks to the blank file in your other thread from lee1hy). -Removed dive lines, by cutting the same file from lee1hy down to the right size. Feel free to use this as a base for further changes.

Hi, Add your modified F-86F_cpt_L.dds file into the Early Black folder (in the location you've confirmed Early black is working from). Edit the description.lua and insert this line: {"F-86F_cpt_L", 0, "F-86F_cpt_L", false}; The only part I'm not sure of is the "0", if it doesn't work try "1". If it still doesn't work try changing false to true.. though I'm pretty sure that false means to load from the local folder only. Let me know if you got it working anyway, because I also want to clear up my gunsight glass.. having trouble seeing stuff.

You used "device_systems.Batt1OnOff" but I don't see it in your clickabledata quote.. Try this: {down = 3127, cockpit_device_id = devices.ELECTRIC_SYSTEM, value_down = 1, name = _('Batt1 On'), category = _('Special')}, {down = 3127, cockpit_device_id = devices.ELECTRIC_SYSTEM, value_down = 0, name = _('Batt1 Off'), category = _('Special')},

Still works fine, you need two lines at the end not one: dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."ViewportHandling.lua") try_find_assigned_viewport("AH64_TEDAC") This is actually working BETTER than I expected. I had thought maybe we could specify either one or the other and have to choose pilot or CPG... However ED changed it so that it AUTOMATICALLY switches exports when switching seats, sooo good. Now the home cockpit MFD screens are setup perfectly even if we don't have another crew member

Currently using the EHSD->DATA->TCN allows you to cycle through presets of TACAN channels for the major airports. This works only for Caucasus, Nevada and PG. Would it be possible to add the missing TACAN presets for the other modern maps? I tested and found there are no presets in: Marianas Syria South Atlantic All TACAN channels can be found here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312200/ But it would be useful to have it in the presets, especially to keep the Harrier consistent across all maps.

ENG EXC warning is what to look for. Divert to an airfield instead of VTOL.
-
INS should be set to NAV when missions start before 28/3/1994, for missions that start with engine running. However when I start a mission with the Harrier in 1985, it starts the mission with the INS set to IFA. This would look for non-existant GPS and end in bad results. The correct behaviour can be seen implemented in the Hornet: when starting a mission with a live Hornet in 1985, the saved state is with the INS set to NAV.

I found that you have to have the TPOD designated on an area first, so the bottom right quarter of the screen will say TPOD and then under that TPOD again. So if it's designated on a waypoint or something, just hit TDC depress in TPOD mode before enabling LSS. I guess it wants an area to start looking for the laser. LSS will then switch to LST after it finds the laser

F/A-18C Kneeboard Suite - Updated 31 October 2024

Nice, I think approximate time is fine because they are still readable even in the light or dark. -

What's the difference between ovgme and jsgme? I've got jsgme for like 10 years, any benefit to switch?
