Thanks NEODARK I like to go here http://forums.pcper.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12 but I cant turn down any tips. I know the cpu is lacking in my current set up and thats another reason for upgrade. So far Goya and you guys say go for fast memory. And I can live with that, I just cant justify buying a 256 mb video card at this time. Would be great to see some posts on experience on the difference between 128 mb video memory and 256 mb video memory with this game. You know I just thought of something. The 64 bit boards handle things very fast with big mem band width so the min requiremnet statement for black shark maybe related to nforce 2 systems , and not necessarily 64 bit systems esp 939 cpus with fast memory. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

My new config will be a msi neo plat nforce 3 mb. 1 gb ram , 6600 gt video card 128 mb . amd venice 3200 at around 2.4 ghz. NOTE: I do not at this time want to buy a new video card or even an old one with 256 mb memory as suggested as min requirements for black shark. QUESTION: Can I get away with installing some fast ram like ocz rev 2 platinum pc3200 and drastically help myself put off the 256 mb video card and find acceptable performance? At this time i am on some corsair pc3200 and this nforce 2 system plays lock on ok but after seeing the new min requirements for black shark and knowing that ghost recon 3 is probley going to want 256 mb video card I know I have to get there soon but wonder how long I can put it off. PROBLEM : I am willing to spring for very fast pc3200 memory to compliment the venice 3200 cpu and overclock........but I just do not want to also or insted spring the money on a 6800 gt 256 mb card at this time!!!! I just looked and could not find min hardware requirements for flaming cliffs??? I guess I really know the answer to my thoughts about upgrading but maybe this will be entertaining to discuss.

Can we have some better explanation or confirmation of this loman 3.3 , maybe some details on how exactly to obtain if it is indeed something we should use other than the loman 2.1 + patch method , thank you!!! and cheers!!!!!

I agree, I wanted to fly on my computer for years until I seen Lomac and that was it, the grafics were a big thing for me and I thought well now it looks acceptable. Little did I know I needed upgrades LOL :)

I have not had this problem with half life or lock on anymore. Even though my system pasts alll test and memtest . I guess is didnt try prime 95 or stess enough cause when playing unreal 2004 it really stressed my cpu. Now my cpu voltage i bumped up from 1.75 to 1.77 and i dont have a problem anymore.

I dont believe this is correct assumption to make for even five years. I played all the rouge spear titles. The grafics engine really only supported 98 . so in 2001 UBi released black thorn rouge spear and put on the box for windows 2000, that was a complete lie. The game will not play in windows 2000 correctley. I still wana play rouge spear esp black thorn and cannot. I have tried seveeral installations of 98 with a couple different computers and the speeed of the computers was just too much for the game. Actually the box doesnt mention support for Ati video cards either just old g force stuff and the like. So Im screwed I have the games but since tech has advanced I cant play them anymore. :roll: thats after 4-5 years of game release. :cry:

Is it actually to make us pay if we exceed the three config changes as part of their revenue stream, or do we expect that they will waive this and reset the counter unless they think someone is taking the piss? Bear in mind that while three new computers last a long time, if you are fiddling around to optimise a new system you can make three major changes in as many hours! Mike Thats hilarious if you are going through that many configs over 40 % of hardware you need a TEST COMP , If I had that kind of stability in my life i would rob banks and commit suicide if caught.

yes bring it on new mb and cpu wont come until 5 months or more, that should last a year then 2 more changes and another game should be out by them HINT HINT 8)

GUYS THE QUESTION WAS not about what card is better but WHAT DOES LOMACS GRAPHICS engine most likley COMPARE TO IN REGARDS TO OTHER GAMES. But i suppose if the 6600 gt doubles the fps then maybe nividia hardware and drivers handle LOMAC better than Ati. ????????? but ITS THE GAMES YOU WANT TO PLAY nowadays . here is a post of mine from another forum about ati and nividia why my next card ill be giving nividia a big chance to get my money. FIRST OF ALL IM NOT LOYAL TO ANY MAKER OF A PRODUCT , THATS JUST INSANE! ESP WHEN IT COMES TO THIS INDUSTRY.. Ive also decided to abandon Ati at all costs. Or at least give nividia a big chance. Even though i get employee prices on ati cards, ill be happy to sell my 9800 pro AIW for 179 bucks someday same as i paid for it a month ago. I dont wana buy into the pci hype and pay the price. Nvidia uses the same gpu on pci and agp cards cutting costs and that means a cheaper product for us and more availability. I dont see any reason to stick with Ati and pay premium prices for a pci or agp cards because they decided to use different gpu 's on said p[latforms. Just doesnt make sence to me. Honestly i am mistified at ATI for not developing a bridge chip like nvidia did to cut costs of thier video cards. I have had enough of thier snootyness , makeing us pay for fancy boxs with red ink all over them and just everything else makes me sick. Would lomacs engine be like far crys or doom 3 or like unreal 2004? I was reading a review of the 6600 gt card and noticed a big difference between doom 3 and a 9800 pro playing doom 3 . But performance was about the same with unreal 2004 and far cry? SO im wondering who would be the winner here in performance , a 6600 gt or a 9800 pro . lLet the war begin! :)

Paypal used to suck and yes im in the class action lawsuit against them and waiting for my 50 bucks as they used to be real pricks........ but times have changed, Ebay bought them and they are much better to deal with. I use paypal all the time.

yeah i bought some cd's from a guy in mosco once and it took forever to get here to the states. Really why would you all need a cd? Im going to burn an iso and forgetaboutit............or maybe we dont trust the download and suspect corruption. Well thats what CRC is for and frames it should all make it alright. I Hope.

downloading is smart for ED , dont even start to complain about having dial up, you can obtain programs that will resum downloads if you get disconnected , i did this all the time when i was on dial up . Just run it before retireing for the night and you will have it in the morning or go make some new friends who got better connects than you do. mho letting ED control overhead makes it better for me and you in the long run my friend.

i have a collectors item , rouge spear black thorn came right after sept 11 cant pay it on 2000 and i cant play it on my pc cause video card is too fast and my motherboard n force crap hates 98se for audio. Even if audio would work right redstorm recommends gforce 2 cards and the like and not ati. Although i know a viper 2 will work with it.. Yeah some piece of collection , after 4 years you cant go back and play it cause of tech difficulties LOL

I watched Ironhand’s RWR A-10 training track last week, I've had it installed for ages and never watched it, but when I saw it I was amazed how brilliantly produced and slick it is. There is a heck of a lot of great tips and info that can be transmitted quickly through such tracks, that can not easily be written, read or absorbed via any manual, nor via forum discussions. Please don't do away with tracks (there would be very few, and much lower quality videos with out them as well). I absolutly aggree , I would be willing to pay 20 bucks for a cd that shows these kinda traing videos, i dont need to take control at that moment but would rather see these videos in divx so i aint gota worry about the version and patch changes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well to understand any of this you have to be willing to install a mod and mod a game you are playing. Mods that I have incoporated into ghost recon can all be deactivated with a click of a mouse button. The mods I have in Lomac can all come out too via loman with a click of the button. Some people actually arent interested in mods. In this case we have Lomac beautiful flight sim . I started with a top of the line computer last year and since in a year upgradeed memory to 1 gb diff processor , and new video card , but some of that i would have done anyway. Regardless Lomac is a special case, most players simpley do not have the hardware to play Lomac in a visual way that is comparable to thier other games on thier coomp like half life doom 3 etc . This Mod of Mod im suggesting for Lomac is something that someone by thier own free will can use to help compensate for a middle of the road box. Forget the " oh ED cant go hacking or moding thier game that just isnt right " Well what do you think 1.1 is ? Its a add on and my idea is to simply produce , or review a all in one mod so when someone comes into the forums with a new Dell or a new Gateway or Compaq or whatever and is disgusted with performance we can say " Here you go install this its one tool that just may make it worth your while". What is the benefits? More players and more money . I mean just think about it? I can assure you that I appreciate the mods even though I am at xp 3200 speed got a 9800 pro got 1 gb of pc 3200 got a big power supply , got a high air flow case etc etc. I suppose if its that big of deal for ED then so be it maybe this thread will inspire some skillfulle people to at least get the compilation done. thanks for the replys. I can assure you that anyone who is into ghost recon and playing those mods is very familier with Dark Angels compilation MOD [ a mod of mods ] Dark angels compilation has truley improved everyones fun with ghost recon and has made lplaying ghost recon on line a whole new game. For example when a newbie can install just one mod and get 300 more guns to choose from many more maps to play it really improved the game and kept alot of players iin the ubi game rooms. If ED cant get involved in anyway what so ever then I am sure that someone somewhere will someday do this. I just dont understand why ED could be prevented from releasing such a mod of thier own files and created Original content useing ideas and examples from the community that have been proven to work. I dont get it? :idea:

The question is for either a dev or someone close to them............. to do the deed. Give a mod that tweaks for higher fps with some compromise. Ill bet there are guys at ED that would do it . Just do it and get the dev team to look at it and if it looks ok just post it up for download. I mean modders do this all the time. If a 15 year old kid can wip up mods for a game , im sure we could find someone at ED to get involved in doing this. Doesnt seem like much to ask. Hell i suppose anyone with modding knowledge could take the mods already available and roll them into one working mod. Then what will ED give an evauluation on the mod . Will they try it out for us and tell us what they think? Im sure someone at ED would find this entertaining!!!???

Can we or that is ED develop a all in one patch to address fps improvment or take advantage of community tweaks that have been made. Alot of these make since like the overcast fsb improvment, the med to high water fsb improvment., or fast overcast high quality underside. There arent very many and loman 2.1 is easy enough to understand and install these add ons and tweaks but insted of just turning everything down to low quality can we get someone at ED to bless a patch that would be meant for people who want these kinds of improvments in this kind of give and take way. For example: if most people say low water sucks but with a mod I can get much better looking water with no fps hit ! I used to be heavy into playing ghost recon and still do , there are very many mods for the game and allso a famous guy dark angle who has modded mods to make ghostrecon easier and more fun for all players. Because when there is just one mod to load then getting into games on a majority of servers becomes alot easier. PLus other benefits in GR are also enjoyed. Seems to me with not too much money and time someone could take alook at these mods in the Lock on community and simpley roll them all into one install. Not only does this make it easier on everyone esp new players of the game but it also gives a reassurance that the mods have been checked out and approved stable by ED too! For whatever reason or maybe cause of name calling someone hasnt rolled all these mods into one yet. It would be great if ED could just take alittle time and look at these mods and help us in making the game more computer friendly. An official statement about modding Lock on would be great too.
