EVIL SCOTSMAN - Please Read

Thats old school, OCZ was pulling some shady stuff years ago but they changed and the rev 2 platinum ram with tccd chips at newegg is about 150 bucks now and does 500 ddr . Many people using OCZ stuff now on high dollar systems. actually the ram will do 270 fsb stable. I run mine at 733 2.5 Stock is 2225 but thats at 400 ddr :) Actually Im asking a guy right now who is running a soltek 939 useing my memory at 2335 how in the hell he is doing it ,its got to be the board. I dont think a 3500 at 11 x 230 would make a diff!!!!! well ..............its an odd setup isnt it. -

right , we were building 333mhz systems in 2001 , its obsolete. This is a funny debate I was overclocking pc2700 in 2001 trying to hit 200 fsb some did with the right stuff and mb combo spicifically kingston hyper x was the stuff to have back then. WE still cant discount potential , the early pc2700 chips do not have the potential pc3200 has thanks to new tech. For example my pc3200 has potential of 540 ddr!!!! Pc 2700 may or may not have more potential now then it did in 2001 but why even go there. 200 fsb or even the sweet 185 fsb was pushing your luck and risking a corrupt os back then I know I myself and many of my buddys ruined over 100 ADMITTED OS installs overclocking pc2700. :) I can assure you our benchs and observations beat the stock results of pc2700.....heee heheh ee witness the corrupt installs for proof. Last... toms hardware is regarded by alot of people as unreliable and sometimes just not in the groves of reality. -
nice work and yeah nice run!

Remenber that B-52 flying kit? Its no more! :(

looks like some thick grass there, yeah hopefully the engines survived. Insured ha thats funny -
great thoughts, maybe we will be flying in cars by the time we can have real life graphics in any combat game.

Buying a dell gateway or whatever and owning it without a warrenty is like walking a highwire without a poll or a net. Buying a 300 dell means you like to also talk to dell support, have alot of calling time to burn, enjoy paying your local computer shop to help you with rma and warrenty issues. Like to wait on dells almost obsolete hardware to show up so computer can work again if its not on back order. The list goes on and on. If your rich and dont know how I recommend http://www.falcon-nw.com/index.asp

Good point Sonny, Since I work at an office systems dealer I can tell all of you these cheap 1000 dollar dells or gateways whatever use the cheapest components in the world all connected to the cheapest motherboards that can possibly load windows and a backup in a seperate partition, also included is a recovery cd for Dells convenience. Now you want a stable system learn how to build it yourself using quality 100 dollar motherboards. I suspect all of these problems are because people are running hightech software on junk hardware and just dont know how to maintain an operating system but i could be wrong. Technical software programs that I use to service equipment do have min requirements for the computer hardware I am using to service and reload thier machines software. So I dont really question that when it comes to running this software it should be demanding a min requirement of hardware speed and quality.

A better way to get gamers to support devs...

no way man , i surf the microwave and have a lightwieght friend who flys a pirates flag off his front porch. He is nothing compared to some other friends i have who have over 100000 dollars of software at thier fingertips. Im not saying thats ok but we work at at office systems dealers , we see all the malware and virus of this earth. Starforce is niether!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Putting Starforce in the same sentence with sony is against the law btw. Sony rules all copyrights and has insurance on your cd's.:) -
hmmm I wish i could help since new computer i dont miss water mod at all , sun mod Hmmm cant say i miss that either but its been awhile.

WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT YOU THOMAS?

Upgrading for lo-mac; new 64-bit proc and gfx card
emenance replied to pappavis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Good points Scotsman but really i cant offer any proof I didnt study the difference , however I did offer someones very extreame study of computer builds and overclocking. I seen someone make this same responce as yours to him and he basically layed down proof that it does make a difference. His basic points were overall stability and smoothness of a drive does make a difference.....understanding somepeople dont believe that THIS kind of defragging helps anything. Ironicly the guy lives in Scotland, I might ask him if he wants to elaborate further. I certainly do not. cheers -
maybe someone will be able to make this a mod loman can install ? :)
-
diveplane it sounds good can you post a dl link too ? ty

All i got to say to this is I have been a gamer for life, I have seen the aircraft sims grow , always been interested in them and Lock on was the one that offered the quality and realism I was looking for and now its my favorite :) Lock on rules! :)

Upgrading for lo-mac; new 64-bit proc and gfx card

xg drivers made no difference for me, however i might add that he said he got 120 fps in the cockpit im assuming hes looking down in the cockpit lol . FPS can climb looking down in the cockpit. Im not going to join the battle here it seems like a waste of time. I can offer this little known fact that kinda backs up jinkers tweaks. I do one tweak to all the systems i build or fix up . I call it hyper defragging. Example I will load the operating system , run all updates all drivers and defrag, next will go office 2003 or whatever microsoft product you like , load it in and defrag. I will keep doing this in like load a few apps and defrag , load in lock on and patch tweak like I want and add saitek software tweak whatever and defrag again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont even start a fight with me about this. *** multiple defrags when building a harddrive WILL RAISE FPS IN GAMES!!!!!!!!!*** Only because it is more efficient, I known this after I got to know someone who is a major comp tweaker and builder. It is a proven fact. By how much will ofcourse depend on everything else but obviously it is worth the extra time to do it .....make sence? -
I would go with the asrock before getting a mb with a via chipset. the 335 buck cpu the 4000 would be great , just stay away from via and should be alright. Look at my sig I just built this system ITS A AGP BOARD. ati is still building AGP video cards or at least it is now on the drawing board as a new release. There will be NO SHORTAGE of fast AGP cards anytime soon
-
ok and yes i understand now that the tweak for 64 bit was for starforce but still am curious what MS new operating systems are doing for us compared to the standard xp , im talking about game performance, Every release of windows has come with the the hype of better game performance bla bla bla . It will be interesting to find out just how those really work in the real world. Cheers

ok didnt do it well see what vista has, heres my box 10 x 250 fsb 3200 venice memory 7 3 3 2.5 ocz platinum rev 2 tccd chips new newegg 11-30 they are back to the tccd chips now. stock times are 5222 , not bad previous owner claimed a 10 x 270 overclock with this brand of memory, might try someday but im happy with it now. nice 185 mem divider in here for that too. 185 x 270=499.50 x 2 =htt 999 this overclock could work but id be scared for stability. high per dis agg time dis do dis nv dis spec dis dram weak cool dis cpu 10 fsb 250 agp 67 volts 1.45 cpu plus 8 % mem volts 2.7 dis fast write dis aggres timing no chipset option in this bios so im assuming its also dis. other bios stuff mostly stock sideeffect 1 b tccd optimized bios 8% seems needed for stability..... will run memtest at 5% Also 1.45 is the limit on the cpu so setting above that is useless. I can memtest no problem. Very fast set up much better than my old nforce 2 rig. comments?

Wish it was easy , a friend says he has Vegas 5 , i wonder if that would make it easy , it cost like 1000 bucks. What do you guys mean by large files ????? I mean dont we have basic dvd that hold 4.7 gb of data , dvd roms cost about 30 bucks now and most people have them. Alot of people have cable too .......i know several people into bit torrents dling 1 gb files all the time , whats the problem?
