Well, around the new year I hope to finally be building a bulldozer system with windows 7 ult. Would you guys care to comment on what the switch was like or things to look out for. Anything not work anymore or better with all Lock on BS A10c SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE. Including inputs like track ir 4, 5, logitech sticks, g940, keyboards, warthog TM stick, any other hardware or software that pertains to these flight sims.... TY Maybe this infomation is somewhere else too. Looking for specific information. Most of probley understand the basics of the win 7 switch and the vitualization.

The only thing good about winter is that I get to do some serious flying again. Unfortunatly I am going to retire the q6600 rig to the living room after 4 years of great service. Cali it helps alot that you are on vista or win 7 64 bit. Those OS handle the memory , virtual memory in a different way, much better than XP!

While Ill agree on all front that the TM is a better product from a superiour company I gota be honest and say that the g940 has been really cool in BS and I like it. I have not had it flake out on me yet. I did take the time to study the threads here and get it set up against a few working recommendations. It really has been great. ???

I always make final decisions on components around Christmas and put together my new main computers in Jan. ASAP. You see all the sales and get your parts right. If something goes wrong hopefully tech support is slow with holidays going on. Mine is 4 years old in Jan and plays Crises 2 with some vpu recover sometimes but overall just fine amped up.

I did extensive research on what was out there around Jan 2011 and The TM really was a disapointment . Sure it seems to be stable now and that great. For my budjet I choose the G940 and made it a hobby to play with it. I have not experienced huge problems with the setup after some hours of tweaking and reading ALL the threads and resources on it. I havent opened it up to loosen the wire but like here there are people in the world that have had great success with it and so far it is performing in an acceptable manor. BUT Logitech really should have finalized the concerns of the community and we will not forget how they treated the flight sim gaming industry.

i would buy a new PSU too.

Need Advice - best bang for buck?
emenance replied to MSBoxer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I used to run a similar set up. Both upgrades would probley require a new PSU so your really stuck. 4 years was a good run. Its time for a new one. I would work on the CPU , im assuming its a q6600 or something, see if you can find someone with a board like yours that has overclocked the CPU and match those bios settings. Maybe you can run at 3.0 ghz. Should be easy. Getting rid of the 3850 made a big diff. You can try and find a 4870 Dark kknight on ebay for cheap but you will need a BIG PSU to run it. Like 850-950 watts check AMD website for required specs for the cards. Your in the same boat Im in but this newyear my comp will be 4 years old and Im spending the money and building a new computer. This one will make a nice new HTPC. -
AS a long time user of WD drives I thought I would add this. I even have expensive data recovery and harddrive tools for WD drives :) First if you Raid WD drives you should really go look at the WD website for the Raid edition drives. Raid edition drives are ....made for Raid and have a 5 year warranty, your black has 5 and supports 6gb/s I dont know if I would sacrafice moving away from a real RE drive for that. I am using Raid edition 3 drives and they have been absolutley perfect. Better to trust my work with them than a plain old drive version. I wouldnt raid SSD drives either. Sorry, but i dont think anyone should raid anything without raid edition drives that are made better and a solution to image and reinstall your OS to DISIMMILAR hardware like Symantec Backup exec Desktop edition 10 that you can find on ebay with a single license. We have too much time invested in our OS build to just trust it to standard drives and a weak backup solution. So yes IMO go for raid, you can use the Motherboard controller just test it compared to someone else who has a similar board or a review. pcper.com is a great forum for that. http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/SpecSheet/ENG/2879-701281.pdf

Reformatting: Erase all or only OS?
emenance replied to genbrien's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
genbrien Since you have so many games and a huge configuration task. You life would be made simple with Symantec back up exec desktop edition 10 . You can buy the software on ebay. It will come with a year of support. With this software you can back up a drive or partition and restore it to dissimilar hardware. Maybe you installed new drives or board. Back up exec will allow you to restore your OS in ten minutes. Not 10 days. ( in any case ) -
http://pcper.com/hwlb.php You can check the forum for people with similar setups and just copy what you are seeing as proven stable systems. No geeking.

i really like elo i have a e1545l and last time I looked they have win 7 drivers. If you call them like I did because i was confused about something with the drivers and got a very helpfull woman on the phone with a nice voice. try it. i am using one with win 7 32 bit for a jukebox. Im looking forward to using the second I got for helios or something on a new win 7 64 bit system someday. So I hope you get your answer. Are you using a usb to seriel cable too. Or are you using serial to serial? Thats what makes the touch part work.

I have owned a 940 for a few weeks and have not had enough time to sink teeth into it yet but so far I can see myself maybe being ok with it. Just like some pro's I have seen here and on the net be happy with it for lock on and BS but some demand better and right fully so. Bottom line is that its all up to personal preferance and its totally a GAMBLE to find what you like. I thought that theg940 would give the flight sim world a real boost and a quality controler. The world is still waiting for something that works that is precise and doesnt have a bunch of bugs or worries. I ordered a x52 pro but i got sick of the thought and sent it back with out opening it. Amazon has the g940 for less around 260

i HAVE THE MR YENKO G940 A10C ZIP FILE. The following is the read me SEE ATTACHMENT. I have not applied this myself and am only 3 weeks into a new G940..... so would like to see feedback. MrYenko's G940 Profile, DCS: A-10C Beta2 Profile, Quick-Reference Card, and Excel File for alterations to the QRH. ----------------------------------------------------------------- None of the files containted here are my own work, all of it being ruthlessly stolen, and then mercilessly edited. Ill attempt to get my original sources right here... --- QRH Card and XLSX file: StrongHarm http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=59306 --- Base for G940 Profile: jimiC http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=59480 Note that I use 100% settings on all four sliders in the Global Device Settings window. --- The DCS internal profile is actually my doing. It was rough assigning all ten axis, let me tell you... The reason to install this one is to get good curve settings. The standard uncurved axis settings are borderline unflyable. --- Any comments can be sent as PMs to "MrYenko" on the Eagle Dynamics forums at http://forums.eagle.ru/ Thanks! Install: DCS A10C.xml goes in the C:\Program Files\Logitech\Gaming Software folder. Depending on your install. g940.lua goes in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta. Note, that it goes there, even if you use the x86 DCS client, on a 64 bit OS. (Curse you, NaturalPoint...) I'm not liable for anything that happens to your DCS install, your OS install, your computer, your dog, or your person due to using these files. They are supplied for your personal use, and may not be sold, or distributed in a package that is for sale. Feel free to redistribute, as long as this readme accompanies the files, so that the original content creators are recognized. Mega-Thanks to ED for making a REAL study sim. Again. MrYenkoG940.zip

Logitech g940 price drop and new firmware!!
emenance replied to emenance's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
DONT BUY AT AMAZON. i HAD TO SEND ONE BACK. The manufacture date on the box was July 24 2009 !!!!!!!!! Update: Just got one from walmart and the box had the same date. Therefor like alot of things made in china they must have contracted for a huge run of the ITEM and then sit on it untill it sells. this doesnt look good... -
http://www.amazon.com/Symantec-Backup-Recovery-Desktop-Support/dp/B002RYVR7M Great system. I connect an external drive via esata connection and have a safe back up. I can restore my OS in ten minutes not ten days! I have been using this for 5 years.

Its very strange how some people here and other review places like amazon or newegg has not even a hint of the reversal bug or spike problems. some do and there are reasons for it in the thottle like cables being too tight. Best to read up here too. http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming/bd-p/pcgaming
