  1. Absolutely love these large tape instruments that were introduced to the plane quite early on I believe. (btw quite a lot of the F-106 manuals can be found at https://www.f-106deltadart.com/manuals_documents.htm)
  2. They did quite a lot with the cockpit early on Contrast the above picture with this one:
  3. Those are all in the rear seat of the UB model aren't they?
  4. Remember that F-16, Su-27 and F-18 all have fly by wire systems. The MiG-29 9.12 and 9.13 on the other hand do not have a fly by wire system. They have a electro-hydraulic system assisted with dampers so you have pretty much close to direct input to the flight surfaces.
  5. I hope I'm not too off topic. If you are very serious about protecting your private data you could always run both win7 and 10 as Virtual machines from within a linux OS and use hardware passthroughs to run DCS or other games at very close to or at full performance.
  6. Now if we were ever to get a K, I for one would prefer the original K even if it wasn't mass produced. Much more beautiful lines and two nice CRTs side by side in the cockpit. It would surely open up lots of possibilities for use in DCS. Still the original original 9.12 with those unnecessary fins that were later removed, and composite engine covers that could crack and fall off. Now that dream could only be matched by the pre-production model or was it prototype that had the forward landing gear right below the ejection seat. Perfectly happy with a standard 80s 9.12 which would be wonderful.
  7. Found by accident the original DCS in 1997 I think in a local gaming store. Bought it immediately with the remains of my hard earned summerjob funds (I was a little kid back then). Even recall posting a lot on the forums in the 2.0 era.
  8. I believe Fast Jet Performance's interview with Simon Pearson might just be the source in question.
  9. I would buy it for sure, but for a "pure" Air to Air US of A jet I'd prefer an F-106A with it sleeker lines and old-school high-tech cockpit. And if/when we get full fidelity F-15C I'd prefer to get the 80s version similar to what we've already got. Or perhaps both the 80s version and a super new version like we got with the 16 and 18.
  10. Yeah I also started to watch Bruce Gordon. Though it was the Millenium7star fellow on youtube who really introduced me to the F-106. Such an absolute beauty and I would love to fly it in DCS and it seems that basically all the documentation down to how to assemble one in your garage is easily accessable on https://www.f-106deltadart.com/manuals_documents.htm The hard part would be recording the sounds since none of these fly (as far as I know) any more.
  11. Any chance you are using Nvidia GPU? There is a temporary fix if so. Just use Nvidia drivers from earlier this year or get a Radeon.
  12. Redfor can take off from Jan Mayen (1,6km) or they could use the runway at Egilsstaðir 1,8 km or Akureyri 2,4 km if they got to North East Iceland. Runways at Keflavík are only slightly longer at 3km each
  13. Looks like its time to do carrier landings on the 29 :D
  14. What about the F-106? The air-2 would be a brain- and facemelting missile in any event. Also flying with an eye-patch like a pirate would be "interesting" to say the least and especially in VR I'd surmise.
  15. Sounds like the MiG-29 and other Soviet fighters really have the equivalent of a 'RIO'. Just ground based one with a huge ground based radar to search with. ED now just needs to develop the Jesterovitch
  16. Very interesting. Could be useful to have R-27s on the middle racks when the inner ones are occupied by drop tanks for longer flights.
  17. As it certainly should That out of the way. I have no problem with adding other customization options for our ingame pilots. Maybe something like they have in Eveonline with loads more moustache customization options. Be assured that as soon as we have full-fidelity MiG-29 ED has my fullest blessings for commencing this endeavor.
  18. Regarding different voices being available, as in female voices for the females or even "black" voices for blacks etc. Modern neural networking tech has made it almost trivial to generate your own custom voices for the game as long as you have the text you want to be read. The biggest problem with DCS pilot customization however is the lack of moustache customization, which shouldn't be mere texture without any 3d geometry on the pilot. Absolute travesty considering how important moustaches are in proper aviation
  19. Apparently this is possible in real life, where the drop tank switch only drops the centerline tank. To drop the wing mounted tanks you'd select inboard stores and then hit the drop stores switch.
  20. Would be so nice indeed to have that skin in DCS. I remember having that pic you posted as a wallpaper on my computer for a long time couple of decades ago.
  21. I did find a gettyimage photo labelled as a "sukhoi-su-33-fighter-aircraft-on-a-mission-to-carry-out-news-photo" with R-77s. However its most probably an Su-35 in Syria since it doesn't have canards and has a long tail. Unless its very simple and cheap to configure the Su-33 to carry R-77s (as in just new launch shoes and make the weapons control system treat it like R-27T? maybe?) I don't think the Russian navy is going to modify their Su-33s to do so because they have just gotten a bunch of brand new MiG-29Ks which have them while their Sea-Flankers are a bunch 30 year old airframes. But thats just my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong.
  22. Thank you guys for the comments. I just noticed that my quote from the book wasn't quite "information complete" and really should start at pg 291 (292 is full of pictures)
  23. I recently read the following passage in the book Famous Russian Aircraft Mikoyan MiG-29 by Yefim Gordon (page 293) Does anyone here know the veracity of this claim or if it is modelled in DCS at all? Or any other possible details regarding this. So far I've not been able to find any further material online on this matter.
