  1. Yeah, this thread has been entertaining. However I have had about all the re-quotes I can stomach for a while. Any more replies to this are pointless. The sticks gonna break before he gets tired of waving the flag that's tied to it.
  2. Track ir stutter is when the game is moving smoothly with no tearing or stutter. However when you move your head around with the track ir, ie, panning, it stutters as you move your head around. Personally I use vsync in game, DCS. I set nvidia to maximum power management. Seems to work for me. Every system/monitor setup is different though.
  3. The only stuff I came across that caused a stutter problem for me was Corsair software. Even then I can be 100% sure. I use to have Corsair iCue managing some lighting. Plus Corsair Link managing my Corsair AIO. Since upgrading to Crucial dram managed by Mystic Light and swapping my Corsair AIO to one where the fans are managed by the Bios. Some regular stutters have gone or got a lot less. It could be a placebo effect but I am happier with my system having less background software running. That's not just in DCS, most games have smoothed out.
  4. I can recommend the Corsair TX850m, unless you want fully modular. I use one with a 5600x and a MSI 2080ti, doesn't even get the fan going.
  5. Ok well my system is as follows... 5600x 4.6ghz @ 1.2v X570 mobo 32gb Crucial 3200 C16 Sabrent 1tb nvme. OS and games with stock pagefile size (windows managed) 2080ti 1980mhz 0.950mv Dram used max 26000mb Vram 9600mb I fly low in the weeds and get in multi aircraft dogfights on purpose so any stutter is noticed. Caucuses, Nevada and Persian Gulf use less of both. Settings... Textures are high Preload, clutter and trees are maxed Distance ultra MSAAx2 Vsync on Fullscreen off. C3PO if nothing else contact Scan and make sure your nvme drive goes in slot one of the motherboard, the one nearest the CPU socket. X570 motherboards have a dedicated pciex4.0 slot with a in built heatsink and small fan on slot 1. Your better off with the Sabrent Rocket or Seagate Firecuda. That Corsair drive can't be fitted because it already has a heatsink attached, ok. Unless Scan remove it. Like Thunder said their good but they WILL cut corners. This is one of them. Genuinely trying to help you on this one mate.
  6. Come back and let us know how that 3090 performs please. I would like to know how it runs DCS at 4k.
  7. That's fair enough. If the thread gets lost down the list. Feel free to send me a pm if you need any advise or ideas. Happy to help.
  8. Ok so at least you have eliminated the riser card. No I don't have any stutter now. My specs are... Amd 5600x 4.6ghz @ 1.2v Msi X570 gaming edge wifi, latest bios Crucial ddr4 3200mhz c16 4x8gb single rank Sabrent 1tb nvme OS and games, page file windows managed stock Msi 2080ti, latest drivers MSAA enhanced, 2x MSAA, power max in nvidia CP. The other setting stock Track IR5 set to priority high Hisense 4k TV 60hz/fps DCS is set at... Textures high Vis Distance Ultra or maxed Preload max MSAA x2 Shadows Flat Vsync on Full screen off Since your other games work. Is your DCS install ok. I only have Beta installed. I play single player in DCE campaigns but even in a big Mig ball over the trees in Caucuses I don't get a stutter.
  9. Mate fitting an AIO is no harder than an aftermarket air cooler. It's all sealed and pre-done for you. I replaced my Corsair one last week. Took just over an hour max. The extra 200mhz won't give you much. I have a 5600x, to save voltage I lock it to 4.6ghz and undervolt to 1.2v. (I know I can use curve optimised to max single core). DCS using ultra setting at 4k even in Syria never maxes it out. Lower latency dram however did eliminate a stutter problem. I use to use OcUK too but the last 12 months their prices have gone up.
  10. Bones man, its your system at the end of the day. So this is my 2 cents. I have done hard piping once and it was a couple of years ago. Only if you can mate this is what I would do..... Get some soft piping that will connect to your hard pipe fittings temporarily if you can... Drain and fit the soft tubing to the GPU connections only and remove the riser adapter. This way you wont disturb the rest of your water cooling or have to remove your gpu waterblock. Fit your 3080 into the motherboard without the riser and set Gen 4 like its suppose to be in the Bios. See if it fixes the problem. Thats only my personal opinion. I would want to know for sure whats causing the error. Just incase it is something else. Do the test re-fill with some de-ionised water to save money if your using more expensive coloured coolant.
  11. Well that spec is definitely a nice spec. Not thought about having a go at it yourself??? There are a couple of things I would change but its not a big deal. It would also only be worth it if it was self assembled anyway. Thinder is right though G Skill lower latency memory, ie, 3200 C14 would be better than the Corsair Dominator. I personally think those kits are overpriced. For reference, MSI motherboards are cheaper, and just as good. (Personal manufacturer choice there) an example...MSI AMD Ryzen MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI AM4 PCIe 4.0 ATX Motherboard LN99486 | SCAN UK Corsair coolers use an app in Windows to controls the fans. Better done in the bios. Cheaper models are available. G.Skill memory is better than Corsair and faster thanks to lower latency That NVME cant be fitted inside the motherboards #1 M2 because of the heatsink. Sabrent would be cheaper and just as good. That mug wont hold enough coffee or tea!!!! I can however re-assure you that Scan build some quality systems and their customer service as far as I have experienced is second to none. If I am in the market for a new component I go to scan. I check their RTX 3080 page every morning!!!
  12. I looked up that exact cable on Amazon. Check out the 3 star review from "Lisa". Looks like she had the same problem. I would doubt a lot that its a problem from Gigabyte, I would predict that you would have this problem with any mobo. If it is the riser cable. Scheduling is "GPU Scheduling" Display Settings/Graphics Settings/Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling/ Some flight sims dont tend to like it. On my system DCS prefers it off, I get a micro stutter using Track IR if it is on. It is only slight though and only really noticeable on Syria. DCS is a funny title. I can run Battlefield 5, Sniper Elite 4, Call of Duty WW2 no problems. DCS was the tricky one to pin down. I think it is the size of some of the textures. While your flying around or looking with the Track IR the scenes change much faster than they do in a first person shooter game. The only other thing I can think of is that some other process is disrupting DCS on your installation of Windows. Use DCS with Fullscreen set to OFF. Then ALT-TAB out and open task manager. Set DCS to high priority and see if it makes a difference. Its a long shot but worth trying anything before resorting to removing the riser.
  13. C3PO whats this? Is this a pre built system from Overclockers UK??? Can you get in the Bios and enter settings yourself or does it get over-ridden by an Overclockers pre-set. If you have now changed any components the OCUK pre-set might nor be totally stable and as you have changed the Dram. It could be that causing a problem. I would like to know how the OCUK pre-set is loaded, via Windows or though the Bios???? I had a check through an old notebook this morning and my old Intel system couldn't do 3200mhz with 32gb installed and would default back to 2133mhz. However I could run 3000mhz and it gave me a performance boost. So if your up to it try the following, Enter Bios, Check CPU multi is 45 Check BLCK is 100.00 Check CPU vcore, set to 1.28-1.3vcore. If OCUK have already set a value, let us know what that is and leave it at that. Enable XMP Check Dram Voltage, if on "auto" set it to 1.35v Check Dram frequency, you obviously cant do 3200mhz with 32gb. So see what you can do. Raise it from 2133mhz a few steps at a time see if you can get close to 3000mhz as possible. Until you can get you 3090. Try using MSI Afterburners OC scanner with your GTX 1080. Remember when you get your AMD chip, this will all change. It will also be a lot lot simpler. Let us know how it goes if you decide to have a go. Take it easy mate. Forgot to add, all of Thinders advise regarding your dram is bang on. I am just trying to help you get the most out of your system as it is right now. Regarding your plans for your 5900x system. Choosing the correct dram to get the most out of such an expensive chip is sound advise. The G Skill sets Thinder suggest are probably the best performing and most compatible available. A lot of people spend big on the CPU and then skimp on the Dram. Not a good idea for your 5900x plans as its all part of the same system. My advise, we dont know when the component shortage will end. Get the most out of your system now as it is. When it comes to speccing your 5900x, listen to Thinders advise about memory and latencies. It could help you not spend a load of money on the wrong bit.
  14. I think your knowledge regarding DDR memory exceeds mine for sure Thinder. It could be down to using 4x sticks against 2x. However I deep dived some old 6700k and Z170 reviews, browsed a few old forum threads too. 3200mhz on the DDR4 should be totally possible, the problem seems to persist from the bios not setting dram voltage to 1.35v. Just from some digging around. Multiplier to 44 BLCK to 100.00 ---(NOT FLCK) DRAM to 3200 or closest available in the bios Dram voltage manually set to 1.35 CPU vcore 1.28-1.3. Checking temps thats important. C3PO please please take these as suggestions and remote advise. I would suggest reading a few old 6700k reviews to see the overclocking and dram settings used. However from a 30 minute stroll round some reviews and user threads. What I have suggested should be possible. If this is stable then move on to using MSI Afterburners OC scanner and see if there is any more juice in your GTX 1080. Even achieving an undervolt can decrease your running temps and actually improve in game performance overall. I have been an AMD user for nearly two years now. So if anyone has anymore info on this please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. #1 Do you have DCS excluded as a process from you anti virus. #2 Do all your games run smooth at 144fps Is it only DCS with the problem #3 Got a Track IR?? #4 Game mode OFF, Scheduling OFF?? #5 Check anything to do with re-size bar in the bios, long shot I know?? #6 Try disable hot plug with an autoexec.cfg file use this... no_device_hotplug = true If I was you, and I use to watercool everything too. I would try everything before re-piping your system. It could be the riser card though.
  16. Hi TmanSteve. Dude I just had a browse around on eBay. With things the way they are its obviously not ideal. A 1080ti will be from £500 upwards and a 2060 super is about £450 upwards. As far as AMD 5700xt's go just forget it. You would have to be clinically mad to buy a used one for £750. I took a stroll through the sold listings for this month. I use to run a 2060 super on a 1080p screen on high settings and it ran at 60fps ie vsync without a problem. I went through every retailer I trust and they have nothing at the moment. A boxed example from a seller with good feedback is the only option at the moment sadly. Unless something comes in at CEX. If you really want one. Keep checking CEX like Thinder suggested. Or snipe a badly timed listing on eBay. Ive stayed up till stupid hours to get a bargain before.
  17. HI C3PO, Just catching up with this sorry for the delay in replying. #1 You CPU and Dram are getting maxed out by the looks of resource monitor. If the resource monitor screenshot is with 16gb installed then that the dram problem. However XMP should be working. #2. Straight up your GTX 1080 wont run Syria at 4k if you are using textures on high. I have had to tune my 2080ti coupled with a 5600x on a X570 to just about be able to do that. You are also using online multi player which will factor your network connection into any performance problem. So this is my two cents. Get DCS running as smooth as you want offline. Use that to shake down your system for bottlenecks and performance problems. Get a baseline working. After that if MP still under performs you know its the dram capacity or network connection etc. If you have the FA-18 installed check its mission section. There is a mission called Valley Run. This is a good scenario to test DCS performance. If its smooth in this mission. There is a good chance it will be smooth in most scenario's. #2 Your system, This needs fixing, with your CPU DRAM and MOBO this should be possible. You should also be able to get your CPU running at 4.4ghz minimum safely. Obviously I cant see your Bios options page. I have tried to find an example online to reference. Try setting your dram speed manually to 3200mhz. Then set your dram voltage to 1.35v manually. Try rebooting it then. Its no good deep diving problems unless we get some basic speeds stable first. XMP should be working. Once XMP is working. Then try a cpu overclock of 4.4ghz using THIS IS A GUESS!!! 1.28vcore as a start. If you can get that working to squeeze a bit of untapped performance from your system. Your cpu running 4.4ghz and your dram running 3200mhz in XMP that should remove a few bottlenecks. Then tweak the settings in DCS to get a smooth playable experience. The more info you share the more I can help. I visit these forums regularly under while the UK is in lockdown.
  18. Its only my opinion but I think the fix might be on the way with Nvidia's recent move. Crypto mining is a thing now, has been for a while and I think its here to stay. Until the next evolution at least. So far it has swallowed up gaming hardware. Its simply time for developers and manufacturers to alter their outputs so there is one lot of kit for miners and another for gamer. However I think this move is the wrong way around. Make the mining kit incapable of gaming and sell it slightly cheaper than the gaming kit. At least let gamers do a little mining when their systems are idle. I think something close to this will please both camps. I will leave the details to experts!
  19. Yeah while I would love to go to a shop and buy a 3080 right now. I don't think Crypto currency deserves being demonised like that. The argument you present is one sided and a narrow view of the worlds reality as a whole. Drugs, guns and slaves have been paid for remotely long before crypto existed. Money laundering and dodgy transfers have been around since illegal items have been for sale. We can pick one, drugs. Miami in the 80's, they didn't use Bitcoin. The bad guys will find a way to do it regardless. Stock market speculation screwing the global economy that too, Wall St crash 1929. The bankers will screw it up no matter what currency its in. They will make bad bets on it. Regarding carbon footprints, there is so much more to have a problem with. Especially when you consider that most mine crypto while trying to pull as little watts from the wall as possible. How do all the crypto farms in the world compare to a large city anywhere. As for the days of the USSR, I'm sure that a quite a few people in the former eastern block would maybe opt out of going back to those times. I know several people who lived there in those times. I guarantee they are not a fan or nostalgic.
  20. Ok C3PO, Can you please post up your system specs in full including model numbers. Please include your monitor and connection type. HDMI or DP etc. Then take a screenshot of your DCS settings and post that too. In addition can you run DCS with "fullscreen" set to OFF. Load up a mission, any mission and leave it running. ALT TAB out while it is running and check resource monitor for your CPU and Dram usage. Then check GPUZ for your graphics card usage. Lets see if we can help you get to the bottom of the problem. To answer your previous question about 32>64gb. I would leave it at 32gb for now. I am 99% self sufficient now solving any computer/game issue. However I only got there learning from the advise of others.
  21. Yeah I tried it on my 2080ti and it used a higher voltage than I got before. I went back to using MSi Afterburner OC Tuner then under volt a bit to save temps and watts. Never let me down. My 2080ti runs 1980mhz using .950mv.
  22. Download MSI Afterburner. Use it to check how much dram you are using in game. If it starts knocking on the door of 15200mb then an upgrade to 32gb will be beneficial. I only went to 32gb when I started using DCS at 4k, big improvement though as all maps use up to 20000mb and Syria can use 25000mb. Thats single player in a DCE campaign. I dont know if it would be the same at 1080p. I do know it improves multi player.
  23. The best I personally used for 1080p was an Nvidia 2060 super or an AMD 5700xt. DCS ran super smooth at high/ultra settings with decent power usage on both graphics cards. That was using a 1080p screen @ 60fps with Vsync.
  24. Yeah I should have added I have a 3TB Mech drive that just has data on it , no programs at all. Simply backups, photo's, videos and document files.
  25. If it helps I have the OS and all my games including DCS on. 1tb Sabrent Rocket M2 nvme Gen 4. I have no problems at all. This system is for gaming, web browsing and a little Photoshop etc. Just calculate your space required and get one big enough. I'm sure your aware of that already mate.
