Are you linking them to the Stennis and checking "OFFSET FIXATION"?

Yes, tomorrow I will do further testing ... deactivate all my Mods, to discard any interference.

Thanks a lot .. double checking I found the problem, I was checking "offset fixation" but left blank the link unit ... now is good, and I've made a Static Template, so it's easier to include on existing Missions:

This templates uses no Mods (I will make another one with the Deck Crew Mod as soon as I find it, seems to be gone from ED's Forum), but it does use this livery for the Seahawks

If you want to try the Template, just unzip into /saved games/dcs/StaticTemplate (if the folder doesnt exists, just manually create it on Windows' File Manager).

Best regards

Edit: Found the deck crew Mod :D here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301580/?sphrase_id=14818392

pity that the crew has just a single pose .. hopefully a 3D Modeller will eventually create a few more poses :)

Though, if you don't mind me making a friendly suggestion. Maybe remove the av8b's from the carrier deck. It's a bit of a spoil on realism. Iirc there have only been some tests with Harriers on USN carriers somewhere in the '70s (correct me if I'm wrong though)

System specs:

i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU

HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM

You are not wrong .. I will remove them, pity that DCS has so few naval aircrafts to choose from :(

What's with the huge bow wakes? Are they steaming at 50 knots or something?

Not really, they were navigating at 25 knots ... but I agree that the wakes are unsightly, so I reduced the speed to 14 knots just for the screenshots sake .. on real missions the speed should be higher.

Thanks Rudel

I fully agree, I've corrected the Template and also added the deck crew Mod, now it looks like this:

Mods required:

Deck Crew: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301580/

Deck Textures: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3302651/

The Stennis on this template is set with the Tacan operating on channel 74X and the ICLS activated.

Once you load the Template, you can relocate the whole Group by moving the Stennis (its the 1st unit of the Group) and change its orientation by relocating its Waypoint 1. Unfortunately, when relocating the fleet, the helos on the escort ships must be relocated manually, as they will end up over the center of the ships rather than on their flight platforms. :(

Best regards

Apparently nothing has changed since WWII from what I remember seeing on Baa Baa Blacksheep back in the nineties. The Navy just doesn't welcome guests. "They're pigs" the boys said... rdlaugh.png

But since there'll be AI Intruders and Vikings that aren't double ugly in the future, it might get easier to populate the flight deck properly. Just the A-7E's will be missing still...

Love it, Nice Template Rudel :)

Thanks ... tried to not overdo it, in order to leave space for my mission's air operations :D

I hope that ED will flesh out more the Static Templates mechanism, in such a way to also contain triggers and trigger zones ... that way I could also have included a Rescue helo on the Template using FunkyFranky's script.

.. cant wait for a more finished Stennis ... and hopefully with more liveries to impersonate other ships of the class

Cheers

Thanks Rudel (also for adding those mod links). Looks great!

I really hope ED will implement a few more cold start spots on the Stennis. Like on the bow of the ship. Or even better, give us the "take off from ground spot" option, like we can choose with helicopters. That way you could start your ramp start at completely customized positions.

Some very nice templates in here. I’m going to use this thread to ask if there are any guides on where aircraft spawn and how they taxi. Right now I’m using a setup with static aircraft along the starboard edge and I consistently spawn in I think the six pack. I’m sparing with an AI wingman and because of the static a/c I use Cat 2 to takeoff. The AI follows me to the same cat. Is there a way to get them to use the waist cats? I tried taxiing to one of them but as soon as o turned in front of the AI he drove forward and hit me...

Sorry it's kink of out of the loop, but my carrier group wont accelerate past 11 knots for some reason. How did you manage to get 25 knots out of them Rudel ?

I did nothing special .. perhaps your fleet includes a slow transport?
