Aeroscout Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Ok, i know this has alreay been beaten to death, but i'm going to ask it again. I'm not asking for which one you think is better, but who flys what. I started with the Eagle. I then moved the Flanker because i though i would do better in dogfights. however, BVR is quite difficult. I then Moved back to the Eagle for one mission and found it to be VERY easy. Which one do you fly and/ or find easier? DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
Poopskadoop Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 The only thing I like about the Eagle is the auto-trim. Otherwise, I always fly the flanker. I don't know why, but it feels more natural to me. Besides, it's my favorite aircraft. :smilewink:
Cosmonaut Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 70 percent Su33.. and the other 30 percent everything else(F15,Mig,Su25 etc..) if we had an F18 then it would be 35% Su33 and 35% F18 .. If it lands on a ship I'm interested. :pilotfly: Cozmo. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Minimum effort, maximum satisfaction. CDDS Tutorial Version 3. | Main Screen Mods.
JonTex Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I like flying the eagle when I dont want to worry about locking my targets. For everything else theres the flanker. sooooo 5% eagle 95% flanker for me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Frazer Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 As good as 100% Flanker for me. I don't like the F-15, its poorly modelled and the cockpit instruments are hard to read (took me hours to find the light for the airbrake). If you ask me about BVR, I wouldn't know which one is better, never took the time to learn it since I'm an aerobatics pilot. In the few dogfights I do I prefer the Su-27, but thats more because i'm used to fly with it (though made some nice kills with the F15 too) About the looks, the Su-27 is far more sexy than the F-15 IMO. It's not because it's an american plane......I love the F-16 more than any aircraft. My second favorite is the Mig-29, it just feels so damn real :D Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mustang Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Same, i like both jets, they both have their merits.
Kuky Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 They are both good in their own way. I fly MiG-29 the most, then A-10 and Su-25T then Su-27 and F-15. Online I think I flew the F-15 only once. 4c Hajduk Veljko Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I recently started flying F-15. I want to learn areas of strength and weakness of it. Otherwise, I only fly Russian birds. Aeroscout Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Really, i dont know which to like. I think the Su-27 looks better and preformes better. it's only downside are it's missiles. I guess i'm just not good enough. And i agree with the F-15 being poorly modeled. (where is the air-brake light?) and the displays are hard to reed. (especially the HUD! i hate reading the nav info) the Su-27 eels more real and i think is more fun to fly, has a simpler hud and all, BUT THE DARNED SARH MISSIMES SCREW ME UP! (again, i need practice.) Thanks for the input! I think i'm going to stick with the flanker now. Pilotasso Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I recently started flying F-15. I want to learn areas of strength and weakness of it. Otherwise, I only fly Russian birds. Youll never know it enough that way. You would need not weeks but several months of heavy F-15 use to understand how best use it ingame. Anyone who likes flying the F-15 will always get the better of those who just take a peek to see what makes it tick. But its misleading. What you may percieve as a weakness might not be such at all. Its radar is difficult to operate for example, but despite being very difficult to handle is actualy its strongest point. Some people find it impossible to maintain lock or detect anything closer than 20 miles trying to go under your nose but I found its actualy quite good at it, better than any russian bird. .
Guest IguanaKing Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Heh...its true it'll take weeks and months, but if it'll help him use his MiG or Sukhoi against it, then he's on the right track. What better environment can you ask for? You can do your own intel on many of the enemy aircraft you face. If he is used to flying a certain maneuver in the Su and tries it in the F-15...and the F-15 goes "Hey! I don't like that!". That's another coin in his tactical knowledge bank. :)
Pilotasso Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Well, Im still discovering new ways and new tactics to use each plane, even after 3 years of launch, to such a degree, I find myself and others doing stuff with each planes that I though never possible to do. THe vanishing act could make anyone think passing under the nose of the Eagle undetected. I've seeen many people getting nailed thinking their exploiting a weakness thats not realy there. It was just a miscconception generatted by miss-use or unoptimized practices, such as HOTAS programing. It will change the way you fight if you keep diggin deeper. A casual flight is not going to allow anyone percieve things like this. IMHO So hajduk, fly eagle with passion. You better be. :D .
chrno120 Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 The Su-27 Flanker is the reason I bought the Sim in the first place So i only fly the Big Blue ;) The most stupid member in the forum
Scart Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I haven't vote, coz there no my variant... I fly mostly Su-27 - considering it the best plane IRL, but speaking about the "easy flying" i think "Eagle" is much more easier to fly, and to win over most of opponents. Althought it has a lack of really good IR seeker missiles and some RWR downs it has a really sophisticated radar system and 2 targets simultaniosly engagement capability... ....ouch what a terrible english - sorry :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] летаю на заказ, дорого... PFMM Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Mr Picky says; the question should be What do find easier AND what do you fly? As for me it's the SU27. Sexy beast.
leafer Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I used to love SU 27 and still do. I mean, the Crane is all grace but...I'm starting to fancy some of the American fighters more than I do Russian birds now. Sim wise anyway. U.S. fighters are more complex to operate, so I'm in love with the idea that one day ED is going to give us an American bird with AFM and complex avionics to operate. Although I prefer the Hornet, can you imagine operating all those MFDs? But really, any U.S. fighter will do. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
airea Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 After seeing AFM of 25t, I quit flying others but Su-27 is my favorite. It looks more beautiful then f15...
leafer Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Same here. I stopped flying the rest except the two froggy. Can't wait to fly the A10 with AFM. Not that I like the HOG but because it's next in line for AFM. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Cosmonaut Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007  How could I forget the Mig29K  hehe well if we had all three Su33, Mig29K and the Hornet I would never see land in Lockon. ;) . ....or find easier? That has to be the Eagle. It flies so smooth and between the VSD and TEWS it gives you close to data link SA on the situation, sometimes better because of the ground threats displayed. Also the F15 being a true force multiplier you can use a set of tactics for each mission that the Russians fighter just don't allow you to. Cozmo. gundelgauk Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 For me it's mostly MiG-29 or Flanker. I only fly the F-15 once in a while or if I have to go blue and there are no other jets on that team. I don't know what it is about the F-15, I don't like it very much. It's a good fighter and in my opinion it's a bit easier to fight and win with but somehow I plain don't like to fly it as much as the russian jets. Now if there was a Typhoon, I'd probably not get any time to fly any other jets. :D
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Youll never know it enough that way. Oh yeah? So hajduk, fly eagle with passion. You better be. :DI will never fly F-15 with passion. I do need to know how it works in this game and that’s why I’ve been flying it for few months now. And I will continue to fly it for considerable amount of time.
