Lock On: FC3 - Unwilling to buy previous game

Is there any possibility this won't require the 2003 game at any point in the future? For me this is a huge barrier. I kinda want FC3, but there's no way I'm gonna spend $30 for some old game I'm never gonna play. I'm guessing this is related to licensing?

Yes it is related to licensing, and yep it is a common feeling. The modules that Wags mentioned in his newsletter are an attempt to get away from this requirement, but you will always have to have lockon for FC3.

Yes due to the license with ubisoft. You need Lomac only(lock on modern air combat). Have to install lomac and then install your module FC3. Then you can uninstall lomac.

Also you might find it boxed cheap in gamestore/musicstore bin's.

Or second hand on the internet. I believe it doesn't need to cost more then 10$ for Lomac

The original Lock-on is available at my local game store for 7 euro, its part of a 'collection of classic PC Games'

I have the added problem of being in Japan. I'd have to pay to import something. I got CA and P-51D in the sale, perhaps that's enough for now.

Found a used copy for 0.01 UK pounds deliver for 4 pounds to Japan. Guess I'm ordering after all!

I just got the digital download straight from Ubisoft this week for $9.99(us) and worked fine for me. Now I'm trying to learn 5 more planes and a Huey and KA-50!!!!! Too many to fly and not enough time!

For further clarification, it's Flaming Cliffs (FC1) which has the old style Starforce protection.
