Just wondering - what is the purpose of the screwdriver (if that's what it is) inside the M2000C's cockpit (see screenshot)? ...or is that an Easter egg?

I'm guessing, but to break the canopy "glass" for emergency egress.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

We have rope in A-10 to hold left and right parts of the plane together, now we have screwdriver to tighten screws inflight in Mirage. Everything looks quite normal for me. :)

It's not screw driver of course. It's pick in case off the life raft inflate by accident in the cockpit.

The pilot is seated on it, folded in ejection seat.

Maybe it's to quickly open one of these in case of emergency?

Now, why would any one inflate a life raft in The cockpit?

Nope its for adjusting Qhn on The backside of The instrumentpanel:music_whistling:

So, among the more serious replies, we have "break the cockpit glass from the inside" if needed, and "deflate the life raft" if needed.

Is that what it's for? Do the devs know? Does Dassault know? :)

In Tu-22 pilots have to use pencil to pierce rubber cushion behind own back (intended to separate pilot from chair during free fall after ejection). Cushion was located in chair backrest. So in case if cushion accidentally (and very fast) inflated in flight - pilot was heavily forced forward to dashboard and control column, sending plane to dive.

It's not a screwdriver, it's a Special Weapon meant to be used if the missiles fail. You open your canopy and throw the screwdriver, I mean the Special Weapon, into the enemy. :P

It's a knife and can save lifes .... .

On 30th September 1997 a HAF Mirage 2000EG from 332 Sq.

was on a night final approach at Skyros airbase. As you can see from the

attatched photo, the airport is near the sea. Due to fatigue / vertigo the pilot landed in the water few meters before the runway threshold. Media claimed, that the pilot was distructed from lights of small ships, that were fishing in the area . The plane ditched perfectly, and intact sinked to the bottom of the sea  (depth was couple of m). The pilot realised the situtation and tried to save his life in the pure darkness. He managed to open the canopy and release the upper harness of the ejection Seat. As he tried to release the leg restraint lines (see ejection Seat photo in razbams manual) the survival life west, oppened automatic, as supposed to be (when coming in contact with water). Due to that the pilot couldn't free his legs and drowned .... .

Don't know if he tried to use the knife to blast the survival vest and cut the

Lines. The plane was repaired and returned to service.

Man that is funny...never seen some of that footage before. The pilot flips upside down and everything falls out of his storage - notebook, tissue, papers, and a taco.

Good post, thanks.

I can't wait until an adcanced submarine model will be made, so we can experience such a terror and count the fishes from the cockpit. That would add a lot of .. Immersion.. Litterally:D

Okay then - that settles it. Thanks IvanK to put a name to that thing as well!
