No VR Switch for startup?

is there a switch we can use to start DCS with VR off?

I'd like to create 2 shortcuts on my taskbar.

1 to start normally with VR

1 to start with VR disabled.

I prefer using the mission editor on my monitor but it's a pain to start in VR to uncheck one box.

I'm thinking there must be a switch I can add?

I haven't tried the --force_enble or disable VR myself but i dont think this calls the updater were as my way defo does.

You could also just use the GUI updater. It now has buttons to launch DCS World in VR or not.

It's simple, and effective, and won't be undone every time an update comes along.

Any chance this is no longer working? it seems i can't make this happen on my system since i reinstalled the whole thing (fresh hd, no backup).

It's working fine for me in DCS 2.

The path to the exe is quoted, e.g.:

"D:\DCS 2 OpenAlpha\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR

Yeah, you have to be careful about the directory tree. There are three or four versions of DCS running around if you participate in alpha, beta, and GA trains.

Would it not make sense to leave the standard shortcut, as is, so that you get updates when you start normally for VR, and have the second shortcut as force_disable for creating missions etc?

Your choice. You can always kick off the upgrade manually. But I created two icons - w/o VR and the factory default one for the same reason you cited.

Yes, I know, but want to make shortcuts myself.. strange it worked on 2.2 and not anymore on 2.5..

I'm away, so I can't test it yet.

Tbh, the only way I know to launch in VR is through SkateZilla's Updater Tool.

I just edit the options.lua when I need to start non-vr. Caveman method I suppose.

I do have two options.lua files. One is all the VR settings, the other is the full 4K experience for recording.

It does work rather nicely. Things I like about this utility

1) You can set the mic/headset to Rift when you launch

2) You can set one branch as the master, and whatever input you change gets propagated to other branches. I used to manually set symbolic links, but this is easier. Although we only have two to maintain soon.

3) This one is big. You can create alternate configs (c:\users\name..\Saved Games) and switch them around. So perfect if you want to have one for your monitor and one for VR, one for testing etc.

And it does the VR, no VR thing. But it does connect to numpy.org when you fire this up. So I have a question into the author to confirm he used numpy.

That one worked for me. A snap to set up and run. It created the routing icons and turns headset speakers on for the sim and off when I exit reverting back to desktop speakers. Great app.
