Hi everyone, I am not sure whether this is the right place for my issue. Pleas feel free to move it. I have on 32" 4k display (let's call it display 1) connected to an NVIDIA GPU and a 27" HD display (number 2) connected to my onboard intel iGPU. Due to the fact that my NVIDIA is not powerful enough I am playing DCS on display 1 (because of size) configured at 1080P and I try to use display 2 for documents, internet, etc. The issue arises when I open DCS to play. When I do that all programs in display 2 minimize. If I try to "ALT+TAB" to see anything on display 2 then DCS minimizes....it seems I can't see BOTH screens at the same time. I've tried all combinations of full screen, cursor confinement, etc. the only thing that seems to work is using the game at 4k but FPS are horrible. I want to be able to use my 4k SCREEN at HD resolution for DCS while I can open software in the secondary screen at the same time. Thank you!

Hi Since more than 8+ years ago I have been using a 75'' Sony TV at 1080p for DCS World with track IR. My PC is a 2700K overclocked to 4.6Ghz with a RTX 2080 and 32GB of RAM. I have no issues running DCS World at 60fps on most conditions and the new clouds at normal definition. My TV was back in the day the most recommended TV for gaming and I have no issues with it. I like the big TV with DCS to be able to see the cockpit instruments roughly at the same physical size of the thing in real life. However, somebody is selling me an almost new (6 months old) 75'' Sony Bravia XR75X90J 4H UDH at a very fair price. Excluding other applications (4K HDR movies or other games) can you advise if switching to 4K and HDR is going to give me a better experience with DCS World (2D with trackir)? I have heard that in fact, switching to 4K actually makes things harder with the pixels 4 times smaller affecting visual enemy detection... thank you for your feedback

I just switched to a triple screen setup with 4K Monitors. Setting up everything with the options.lua and monitor.lua worked fine. Only one issue: when using the center monitor fur UI, the map in F10 and Mission Editor is shifted to the left. Right side is a blank part and every klick is offset (only on the map, not on sidebars, menues or anything else). I would guess the GUI is positioned 3840 pixels from the left side, the map only 3000 pixels. If i switch the UI to the right side the offset is doubled, if i move it to the left monitor (so coordinates 0/0) everything is fine. changing monitor resolutions and options.lua to 1080p also fixes it. Is it possible that there is some limit to offset the map? Any other 4K triple users having the same issue? Thx in advance for any help Attachment: options.lua and monitor.lua currently used + screenshot of the mission editor when running dcs with those configs. 3Cameras.lua options.lua

I have done several performance tests of my newest hardware and compared them with each other. I have used DCS World 2.8.3.38090 Open Beta with Single Thread ST and Multiple Threads MT with an Instant Mission: AH-64D, map "Marianas" - Battle for Saipan: Dawn Invasion" After starting the mission, I have pressed OK, then [Right-STRG + Break/Pause] for two times (for displaying the frame rate) and then I have pressed the space bar. Directly after that I have checked the frame rate. I know that my graphic settings are very hard.....: null All CPUs as well as GPUs are slightly overclocked, except the CPU Intel I5-13500. Here are the results, including the fps / framerates in DCS World with ST and MT: Here as a table: 4K performance comparison between four of my computers Type Description CPU GPU RAM DCS World Battle for Saipan – Dawn Invasion Time Spy Time Spy Extreme Port Royal ST MT Total Graphics Score CPU Score PC Self build Intel i7-12700KF (12 Cores, 25MB Cache) RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X 64 DDR5-6000 84 98 („GPU-Bound“) 31977 37570 17394 16227 27128 PC Self build Intel i5-13500 (14 Cores, 24 MB Cache) RTX 3080 LHR 10GB GDDR6 32 DDR5-4800 48 58 („GPU-Bound“) 17325 17624 15810 8406 11529 PC Self build Intel i7-2600k @ 4.5 Ghz (4 Cores, 8MB Cache) RTX 2080 Ti 11GB GDDR6 16 DDR3-1600 21 38 (fast changes between „CPU-“ and „GPU-bound“) 9996 14096 3775 4506 8941 Notebook Alienware 17 R5 Intel i7-8750H (6 Cores, 8MB Cache, up to 3.9GHz with Turbo Boost) GTX 1070 OC 8GB GDDR5 32 DDR4-2666 6 7 („GPU-Bound“) 4404 4459 4118 1815 1030

Hello everyone, I'm trying to build a simple setup for my DCS, so I'm having a single 33" 4K monitor which I'm planning to make it the center camera and two 27" 1920x1080 monitors that I wanna put them at both sides of the 4K... Of course I'm making this to have a wider view of the surroundings, but my concern is that the center monitor is almost double higher than the two at sides (in terms of resolution). will I be able to see the sky with the side monitors or it will just show the panels and maybe the edge of the cockpit ? I know my question is a bit noobish but I'd rather be a noob than spending days playing with the Monitor.lua file

Hello all, I am sorry to be bringing up the same topic again as from months ago, however I feel it is still worth mentioning again and something that might help out a lot of people who are having issues since the latest few releases. As pointed out in a post in March 2023 by @Taz1004 a lot of the normal map, roughmet, and FLIR texture sizes in the game are absolutely huge. These texture files do not need to be this huge (22+MB and some reaching 64+MB) and are furthermore stored as uncompressed 32bit textures when they can easily be compressed without giving up any visual quality. The FLIR textures don't have to be 4K since all we ever see them through is our MFD's or similar sensors which do not have this resolution in the first place. The textures that are affected are mostly found in a lot of the newer modules but they are not exclusive to them. They are also not exclusive to player controlled modules or aircraft/helicopters. Ground units have the same issues. The issue also occurs with many off the addon modules not developed by ED themselves so perhaps a word from ED to the other developers to have a streamlined and standardized texture creation procedure could be considered? From what I can tell from some of the videos I have seen regarding the latest issues with stuttering many of us seem to be suffering from, it appears that DCS is trying to use as many cores as it can get to constantly load/unload textures between SSD->VRAM->RAM->page file leading to massive bottlenecks on the SSD side as the threads end up waiting on the SSD and thus each other. Perhaps one way to combat this issue would be to have the normal map, roughmet, and FLIR textures reduced in size which would, without sacrificing image quality; 1. Alleviate some of the bandwidth requirements between all these different components. 2. Reduce overall VRAM and RAM usage. 3. Reduce texture loading times. 4. Reduce the size of the sim itself (which stands at 861GB for me personally as I own nearly all modules and terrains). I totally understand the dev team is busy but if a modder can make these changes in a matter of a week or two it should be possible for the dev team to put someone on the task of hunting down these insane textures and make them a much more reasonable size. I implore you @BIGNEWY and @NineLine to please pass this message on to the responsible people and take another hard look at these texture files since this was first reported already over a year ago. As someone who has been using DCS since the days of LOMAC, please pass this on and take it seriously because I feel this could make the sim so much more enjoyable for many. Kind regards, Vincent van Veen
