BitMaster Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Hey All, it is extremely time intense and almost impossible for a newbie to get an overview about which MODS are currently in use, make sense to have and are compatible with 1.2.7 final. I started DCS about 3 Month ago, by now have got all Modules and are fighting my way through Skins, JSGME, Add-Ons and some Mods. What MODS are you, more experienced DCSers using successfully ? What makes sense and why ? What MOD is not used anymore and maybe tell why. What Add-Ons are helpful ? What Helper-Tools are in use ? I really think this is shorting the time a newbie needs to catch up with current Mods, Add-Ons and Helper Tools . We want everybody to enjoy the EXTRAS that the community has created for DCS. Thank you very much for your contribution to this list :) Bit ----Here you find my test results after trying most of the mentioned MODS further down this thread. I try to keep it up-2-date as I test new MODS. MODS TESTED: --SweetFX 1.5.1*: downloaded and tested ! WORKS with some editing: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/585372/ seems to be the newest implemenatation of SweetFX 1.5.1<-->DCS follow the instructions from poster kekkai to add an additional line in ../DCS Wolrd/bin/SweetFX_settings.txt to look like this: /*-----------------------------------------------------------. / Splitscreen settings / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ #define splitscreen_mode 1 //[1|2|3|4|5|6] 1 = Vertical 50/50 split, 2 = Vertical 25/50/25 split, 3 = Vertical 50/50 angled split, 4 = Horizontal 50/50 split, 5 = Horizontal 25/50/25 split, 6 = Curvy vertical 50/50 split #define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0 /*-----------------------------------------------------------. That fixes the DCS startup crash when trying to disable splitscreen with a single Monitor. Pilots with Multi-Monitor output can leave that line out and adjust the "define splitscreen_mode...." settings to their needs. *This MOD caused some lower FPS due to my crappy card in that Apple. It is very well worth a try if you call a good VGA your own and usually run at mid to high settings. With low settings overall there is no real benefit from it afaict. I will try this MOD on my Asus G73 whenever my son feels like handing it over again for a week or so... should have never showed him PC-Games ! With a NV-GTX-460M 3GB that MOD could very well make sense since I play on medium settings on that Asus Laptop with good FPS. For my sake most of his games also run on OS-X and are in general more fluent on the MAC despite the less powerfull VGA card. So I will update this soon... Update after a night of flying with most of the MODS mentioned: Tested most of the MODS being mentioned and all worked so far with the latest 1.2.7 as of 09.Feb.2014. I played a few hours with SweetFX, Sound Mods, Clouds and Shadow Mods but had to revert back to stock 1.2.7 simply because my NV-GT-650M in my MacBookPro Retina is not strong enough to compensate for the severe FPS hit those mods cause. Might also well be that you need a ded. SB Audio card to have the modded sounds without negative impact on playability. This is a personal issue and does in no way say those MODS are "BAD" or"non functioning", all I need is a Gaming Rig and not a 2 kg Laptop :) Well, as time goes by I will eventually be able to get myself a decent rig again and that will let me use those mods too. I really loved the new looks and audio given by those MODS, very well worth for anyone whos graphic card can run them !! Very well done and a BIG THANK YOU for the guys who spent countless hours creating them ;) I have found 2 MODS that are of high value if you fly the Ka-50. Those 2 MODS alo have zero impact on FPS but add a lot to immersion, reliabilty and playability. The first one is the TurboHog's JTAC Mod for Ka-50. Easy to install, easy to understand and use and gives a whole new way of deploying the Ka if you fly for BLUE. This is a must have I guess ;) Very well done TurboHog ! The second MOD that deserves to be mentioned is the Ka-50's LASER TEMP GAUGE for the HUD. Since many Pilots suffer from burnt out Lasers this MOD tells you the exact TEMP of the Laser in °Kelvin, so substract 272° and you know how hot your Laser is. Telling you its better to wait a bit to let it cool down or if you can go on using it a little more before critical temps are reached. This goes to Devrim ! Very well done Mate ;) Edited February 9, 2014 by BitMaster typo...as usual Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

Davis0079 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Backup ADI tweak ..... for blackshark gauge fix Diveplanes Shadow mod ..... adds better cloud shadows over the terrain Laser temp mod .... show the blackshark laser temp on the hud Highways Village Mod - 229th ..... this is a tweaked version that also has toby23's realistic terrain mod, but with stock fields PeterP HDR & SweetFX & Mustangs Clouds .... this is a 3 in one Ka-50 Audio Production Mod .... By Diveplane Blackshark shell port ... this is a mod that makes the spent 30mm cannon shells drop from the body of the gun instead of the muzzle Edit.....and PeterPs realist neck/head movement for trackir....but this is done through the server.lua and not in my jsgme mod folder...but still a very important modification.... I also have a blue pit for the BS, the Jtac&awacs mod for the BS, and Dtacs terrain and trees....but these last three arent active....but well worth the time......
