Beacon Map

Recommended Posts

I think the way it is currently in the map is a good compromise between the paintet number of each airstrip (which most users is enough information) and the magnetic headings (for the pro pilots).

Fair enough :)

I´ve uploaded the new version 1.43 of the beacon map. The file can be found here:

Changelog:

- Implementation of the L-39C ATC radio channels

- Reworked the classification of all available aircraft in frequency categories. Now it is more handy to assign a specific aircraft to the related ATC frequency

- Some minor changes (Thanks to Piston85 and majapahit)

Any plans on cutting it up and making it suitable for the kneeboard?

Due to the small space that is available and that it is not possible to zoom the map manually at the kneeboard, this will not satisfactory work.

You have to use the beacon map preferred with Windows Photo Viewer (easy zoom function with mouse wheel, fast image formation) on a separate monitor / laptop computer. An alternative solution may be the use on a tablet or a mobile phone.

Hello from Germany,

nice, detailed and truly helpful map, thanks for your efforts.

There is only one thing I didn’t understand well. The legend lists a yellow hexagon sign with center numbering

which means this field has the Russian RSBN and PRMG as navigation aid.

The map displays 16 fields with this yellow hexagon sign. But as far as I know DCS world has only 4 fields with this Russian version of VOR/ILS.

What do the other 12 signs represent?

The 16 channel numbers in yellow hexagons are valid for the MiG-21bis by Letherneck only. It is an early form of implementing RSBN and PRMG into DCS World. The more realistic approach for RSBN and PRMG is now implemented with the release of DCS World 1.5 Beta and the L-39C module (with just four supported airfields). These channels are also shown in the beacon map.
