Gary M Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Friends, Does anybody know if the "Cub" guy who was selling Hall Sensors for the Cougar HOTAS is still around? I've emailed (twice) him through his site and haven't heard anything back... first email was over a month ago. I've got a Warthog setup now, but am going to convert the Cougar over to an F15/F18 stick - and I'd like to rebuild it (and my TM RCS) in the process. Anyway, yeah, I'm looking to source some "drop-in" Hall sensors. Thanks, Cheers! Gary

leafer Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 GaryM, try this place: http://www.admtech.com.au/midori-precisions-rotary-sensors. The "QP-2H/QP-2HC" is the one sold by CubPilot. The link is from another forum member here. Lance666, are you selling hall sensors? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Lange_666 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Nope, i don't sell anything man. I just forwared Ian e-mail adress because his U2/Übermod used to be a combined effert with CubPilot. Ian made the mod, Cubs delivered de sensors. If one person who may still be in contact with Cubs, it is/was Ian. CyStryker Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Uber2nxt need Hall sensors for Cougar Gents: I have the uber2nxt unit but no Hall sensors. You state CubPilot sold the GP-2H/QP-2hc Hall units......... the site u listed does not list these particular halls.......... is there a replacement Hall that would work with the Uber2nxt? Roland
DudleyAz Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I would love to find a source for Hall effect sensors to replace the pots in my old Cougar! I just tried doing it with a Honeywell HRS100WAB090 and I couldn't get the thing to register any output. I have reached out to Honeywell about it but haven't heard back yet. Anyone have any sources or ideas? I really don't want to try building my own with a Hall sensor and some magnets, I would rather just have a drop in Hall pot... Anyone? :) If it worked perfectly... what's the fun in that? :joystick:
CyStryker Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 DudleyAZ: ANy idea who was the manufacturer for the Hall effect Sensors? Is Hall the manufacturer or is that a type of sensor? Roland

CyStryker Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) Midori Precisions Hall Sensors Gents: I have provided the site page of Midori Precision where the Hall sensors are available. they are the same referenced above in this thread. Check out Cougar.Foxy site ... photos of the CubPilot Hall Sensors used with the Uber2Nxt mod package for the Cougar... I am going to find out the price this afternoon... $100.00 each. Also... Pewatron out of Switzerland sells the same Hall sensors.. however, on the spec sheet for the QP-2HC (single shaft) the manufacturer is listed as Midori I hope this helps everyone improve the Cougars .... https://ssl.alpha-prm.jp/midori.co.jp/english/index.php/products/detail/7/roll Roland Edited October 9, 2015 by CyStryker

Spadje Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Don't mean to hijack but I have been looking for a potentiometer for my X52 FOREVER, tried ordering from Amazon but the order keeps getting cancelled because the seller either does not have them anymore or cannot ship it in a fashionable manner. CyStryker Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Middori Hall Sensors Position or Angle Gents: Potential problem... My manual for the Uber2Nxt mod states the Hall sensors are "Position". The Midori I referenced ... although they have the same reference number of "QP-2H/QP-2HC" are "angle" sensors. What is the difference? They responded and told me they would respond in depth within 3 days... Monday.... Roland
CyStryker Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Lange-666 Could you ask him if the sensors must be position or angle and if the Midori Precisions are the correct Hall Sensor... Greatly appreciated. Midori responded to my inquire and will respond in full within 3 days... I will post reply. back when the Uber2Nxt was made the two Hall sensors were $100.00... not cheap.... Man I paid over $495.00 for the Uber2nxt... but it is a work of art:<) Roland

Bucic Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) For one of the hall-based sensors there's a warning "Don't use as variable resistor." Could anyone explain this to me? Isn't it that the sensor is fed e.g. 5V and it's going to output e.g. 5V +/-2V depending on the direction of rotation? It works differently than a resistor so why would anyone want to use it as a variable resistor?
